FZS600 Fazer / Re: Crap mirrors on '98
« on: 28 June 2016, 10:12:35 pm »
Hey guys, I'd like to change my fazer's mirrors as well and wondered if these would fit: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Replacement-Mirrors-Left-Right-Pair-for-Yamaha-YZF-R1-07-08-/331854222184?hash=item4d440d9368:g:sp8AAOSwl-FXNFfE

I would reckon it's best to contact that seller and ask the questions like bolt hole distance etc as finding anyone on here who purchased these would be quite slim I'd think.

Scotsman walks into a pub. There should be an Englishman, a Welshman, an Irishman and an Ulsterman there...... but they're all off watching the Euros
Now you can change that to....
A Scotsman, Englishman, Irishman and an Ulsterman were in a pub, there should of been a Welshman but he WAS STILL AT the Euros

Well here is the one my daughter decided she wanted...
https://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/suzuki-scooter/1175025037
Pleased I persuaded her to go in this direction, think she'll be happy riding it, I drove it the 30 miles home last night covering A roads, motorways, and 30mph roads and I reckon it's well up for the job, fealt really good, nippy to keep up with traffic and at points pull away from them!
Overtaking those trucks on the motorway was interseting :)
Fast enough to get upto 70mph :eek bit scary but could do it downhill and wind behind me but would certainly sit at 50mph with no hassle at all.
Wee clean and overhaul at wknd and it'll be ready for her after she does her CBT on Wednesday.

Oh meant to say....will need to remember when I'm riding it that to go up the gears I need to press the pedal down at ALL TIMES, nearly ended up going over the bars when I didn't! :eek :lol
PS, didn't pay the advertised price, after a haggle we agreed on £570 plus a pair of leather trousers thrown in by the seller :)

My vote is in, I mean out, foc knows what'll happen and no matter what happens I guess we've all got to get on with it :(

FZS600 Fazer / Re: front discs for 2003 foxeye
« on: 19 June 2016, 07:35:24 pm »
If you do go for new discs you're gonna need new pads.
I still can't speak highly enough of Galfer pads for the front calipers.
I just did a service on my calipers earlier and i still can't believe what great condition the pads are in 3 years later.
Now i know i don't do a lot of mileage as it's mainly a commuter, but i'm on the bike a minimum 5 days a week all year round in all weathers and i still have to stop the bike, but the fact is they don't seem to wear out, plus the discs don't seem to wear either?
Highly recommended from me anyway.

Not bad at all for 3 years constant use!
Foc me darrsi, that's sounding like a Scottish deal there with those pads :) buy and use and they don't wear out :thumbup

Out driving my truck today in Glasgow City and in front of me was one of those scooters delivery guys with the big topbox on the back with deliveroo on it and the obligatory L plates.

The guy on it is constantly looking to his left hand area and I'm thinking he's looking at the only mirror he has!

Wrong! As he's looking there, he's lifting his left hand and pressing a satnav or mini computer or something WTF!

We stop at lights and I gets out my truck and walk upto him and he's oblivious I'm even there as he's too busy tapping away, so I tap him on the shoulder and ask him why he's doing such a stupid thing and his reply was how car drivers say...."what's wrong, I wasnt doing anything wrong?"
My reply was "I ride bikes too and when car drivers etc fart about using mobile phones or satnavs, a fellow biker gets killed or seriously injured!"

Fekkin stupid idiot, can't believe these clowns are allowed on the roads!!!!

« on: 17 June 2016, 06:20:26 pm »
:agree
But I have my running light and cree lights wired into the sidelight harness and have removed the original sidelight bulb.

As far as the reflector in the nearside most people have taken it out, it's actually not good if you've got an hid in there anyway (in my opinion)
Removed by bending the tabs and pushing into the actual light area and then 'fishing' it out through the H4 side with something, don't be using anything harsh or you'll just scrape the rubbish reflectors and make them worse, I used a long tie-wrap with the grip end being used as a hook to get the thing out.

have u been through an MOT with there mods?
Mine? Yes, well it didn't fail with the nearside hid, the daylight running and 2 cree's. I'll find out if the H4 HID passess next year but I've no reason to think it won't as it's not pointing in the wrong direction as far as I can tell with my tests :)

if we vote brexit on the 23rd we won't be in any further european tournemounts anyway so our opening games this year won't matter....

Not quite, we're voting to be out of the EU, not Europe. (ffs)
:rolleyes
Wouldn't make a difference to us Scots then as we're never in the competition anyway :lol

FZS1000 rear caliper including modified bracket for Fzs600
Can these just be put on using existing brake lines as they are or do I need braided or rerouting of line etc?

Go on Anutz, admit it, you just went out and bought a new one as there's no way that's a DIY job :pokefun

Excellent work on that :)
On a note of someone telling you not to touch exhaust studs, your now a qualified mechanic since you picked up a spanner to tackle your 'wee job' on the :faz :lol

for a moped / small bike I'd use a van!
Might use it to tow mine down there as I work there sometimes too :)

Mine does 175 in 2nd, has custom paint though, when sprayed Kenny Roberts colours I expect it will do at least 200, on the back wheel, up hill, head wind, with the brakes on.

Don't listen to all the other speed claims, they're all deluded................
:lol :lol

On the note of trailers, what's the recommendations for a single bike trailer?
Might be looking into getting one to move my daughter's scooter from Glasgow to Carlisle as she studies there and wants to use her scooter while she's there and obviously she's not wanting to ride it up and down the back roads.
Cheers.

:agree
Is it a blue bike per chance? :lol

A possible reason for the rubbing sound could be the front discs are slightly out, have you checked them? This would cause rubbing onto the pads which in turn would heat them up, so check there too.

What revs have you got at this speed? Reason for asking is are you sure your using all the gears? Might sound daft but a mate bought a bike years ago and found out it had the top gear missing so as much as he thought he was in top it actually was only in 5th so therefor couldn't get maximum speed out of it, just a thought.

If you are replacing bearings etc make sure you grease all the moving parts.

It sits a wee bit taller bit more upright tbh but not to my liking tbh

Surly sitting more upright would make it worse - it needs to be sitting more at an angle to stick out more and not more upright
Need more beer
Yep, well it didn't work for me!
Just normal position works fine for me, maybe I'm just lucky :)

Sit on the bike, take the left mirror off, keep it facing you and then move it over to the right hand side and locate it in the holes.
Now you see thats the bit I dont get because the left mirror points to the left if I took it off whilst keeping it facing me it would still be pointing to the left and so sitting over the clocks.
Maybe I need a few more beers to understand

You can turn the rubbers around and then twist the mirror housing (as you mentioned earlier) 180% and try that but as I can see ok I didn't pursue that option.
