12 of us did the annual pilgrimage to my house in the middle of France, ride outs in to the beautiful Parc De Morvan, lots of beer on the patio when we got back, daft games, good food and great fun. Not too many photos of the ride outs, too busy riding.

Did a bit of fishing too!

On the bikes too!

Been catching up on this thread -

Horses - Dangerous animals that can be spooked by a crisp packet in the hedge, never mind a bike or car, crap all over the road, the owners seem to think that we will be grateful and will shovel it up for our roses  - Shouldn't be allowed on the road.

Newspapers - The only one i read is MCN, and then get angry when the try to whip up reactions by quoting the thoughts of some loony who wants all motorcyclists to wear a flashing beacon on their heads or something. The "proper" newspapers just aren't worth reading. I dont really want to know about a fooballer's latest indiscretion, or if they scored a goal, or if one team of overpaid dickheads beat some other dickheads in the only professional game where cheating is actually condoned - Winning a penalty by throwing yourself on the floor when no one touched you. NO, ITS CHEATING, THE CHEAT SHOULD BE BANNED FOR THE SAME PERIOD AS THE CHEATS IN ATHLETICS!! The rest of the papers are just full of the latest "celebrity" who has been shopping and bought a new dress and biased political opinion. I wouldnt read them if i was given them for free.

For Sale & Wanted / Victory Vegas 8 ball for sale £4,800
« on: 04 August 2018, 04:01:31 pm »
For sale is my 2007 Victory Vegas 8 Ball, 1634cc 5 speed. Ok so its not a Fazer, but it does look good next to one in the Garage. The only reason i'm selling this bike is because i don't ride it enough.
It has done 11,200 miles, only about a thousand of those have been done by me over the past 2 years. The pipes on it are Victory's own loud pipes and the noise they make is pure eargasm. This bike accelerates faster than any cruser ive ever had and handles beautifully. The tyres have plenty of tread on them and the belt is tight.
The bike is being sold with the standard black Victory panniers and fitting kit (never used by me) and a Victory Mustang seat (never fitted or sat on by me), not got a pic of these as yet but i will add later. These are not fitted, but to be clear, are included in the sale of the bike.
The bike is fitted with a working Datatool alarm. The ghost flames on the tank only really stand out in direct sunlight the rest of the time you can hardly see them.

Now for the (not so) bad bits. This is an honest sale so i'm going to list all the things that, if i was going to keep it, i would put right. There is a small amount of paint bubbling starting to appear on the lower edge of the rear mudguard and at the top of the rear light, iv'e tried to show this in the pictures, but it can be felt with the fingertips rather than seen. I was going to have the mudguard re sprayed so i wouldn't have to write this, but i was worried that if i did i would probably want to keep it. The mudguards are gloss black not metallic so the paint job would be cheap There is a small amount of the black finish on the engine which has come off, about as big as a 20p piece, i will get a pic of this and add later. Probably where a previous owner has left it out in the rain and it has gathered in the bolt hole recess on the primary drive (?) cover. And that's it. The bike will be sold with 12 months MOT. I'll take it down to the MOT man next Saturday. I live in Stoke on Trent so central for all if you want to come and take a look. The price is £4,800 firm, iv'e had a look on ebay and that's cheaper than any Vegas 8 Balls and a couple of the old V92 cruisers. Any questions please text or call on 07837960448. Ive tried to post the actual pics but they are huge, so here are the links, if anyone can get them to fit the board normally i would appreciate it.

When we talk about a "Decent exhaust" when coupled to a Full Monty Kit are we talking about a full system (getting rid of the EXUP) or just the end can?

Look, i'm sorry everyone, i didnt mean to cause trouble.

I can only speak as i find. The Fazer i bought from this forum is not as fast, grunty or as downright angry as my old one (fact, not a complaint). This is the link to the sale  http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,23426.0.html

I'm not looking back with rose tinted spectacles here, my mate has got my old Fazer and we have done repeated rolling starts, and the plain fact is that my old one pulls cleanly away.

As you can see in the link above, Mike did the Full Monty himself.

By the way, i am not saying that i'm unhappy about the sale of the bike to me from Joe. Its a great bike that was worth the money, no question, and no complaints about the sale whatsoever.

it has it's problems tho, clutch drag at high engine temps (not slip), radiator has a very small leak (now fixed), and i think the TPS sensor needs adjustment/replacement. The clutch and the Radiator has no real effect on the power so i will see how it is after i adjust/replace the TPS.

By the way, it has no problem with top end power, it will still blast up to 160 mph, just not as quickly as my old one.

Dont forget everyone, i have never ridden a standard Fazer 1000, the only 2 Fazers i have ever ridden are the two mentioned above. So i do not know what the difference feels like from a standard one to a full Monty one.

Both bikes are in Stoke, so if anyone wants to come over and see for themselves they would be welcomed with a cup of tea and a beer after testing. I'll make sure my mate leaves his keys in his bike in the clubhouse for the week.

I understand and accept that Mike does Sterling work and makes a lot of Fazer owners very happy, but i think either - my old Fazer has had more work done on it in the past than i know about OR There is something which has gone slightly wrong with my New Fazer since Mike worked its magic on it.

Full Monty  :thumbdown  not really impressed. No where near as fast pick up on no load, no where near as good at the bottom end, no where near as good in the mid range, no where near as good at the top end.

All in all, no where near as good as a good dynojet setup done on a rolling road. My old Fazer started off with just over 130 bhp and was dyno'd at 138 bhp after the Dynojet kit and rolling road. And before anyone says owt, we have had them side by side and my old Fazer walks away. The power comes in harder and it pulls better at the bottom/mid/top end.

Plus my new Fazer sounds like a bloody VFR, no where near as "angry" as my old one.

The Exup is fine and in good adjustment. The only problem at the moment is an intermittent problem with the TPS, but i cans see it making any difference.

I'm gutted to tell the truth.

Ok, ive looked and looked but the only FAQ i can find are in the Help section directly under the "FAZER Owners Club Unofficial" at the top of this page. There are only 4 posts in it and none of them are anything to do with Fault Codes or Links to helpful sites.

What do you mean by "The main page"?

Sorry to be such a numpty, but i just cant find any more FAQ's at the top of this, the main, or any other page.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / 3K Tacho fault
« on: 24 July 2018, 08:31:00 pm »

On my Gen 1 1000, ive noticed occasionally that the tacho drops to zero, and then pops up and starts reading normally again, I thought it may have been a loose plug in the back of the clocks. Ive seen the 7K Exup fault lots of times before so i know how they are displayed. Then very recently i think the fault stayed around long enough for the fault code to be displayed properly, it went to 3K which i believe is a Throttle Position Sensor fault. Can anyone confirm this please?

Also, is it a matter of adjusting the position (if possible) of the sensor or are we talking about scrapping it and buying another one?

« on: 10 July 2018, 07:49:32 pm »

Just rode from Stoke to Cognac on my Gen 1 Fazer 1000 with Full monty Ivans kit, tank bag, top box and tail pack. Mostly on Autoroutes at an indicated 80 to 90 mph all the way, but mostly 85 (except for the UK with the 50mph limit for most of the M6) and got about 46 mpg, at 150 miles i still had a quarter of the tank left.

I'm pleased with that, if i dropped the speed down to about 70, i would probably get well over 50mpg, but i want to actually get here ASAP.

Right, 500 miles in a day then another 300 the following day using the Airhawk inflatable cushion thing. I've got to say, its really good. The limiting factor now is the pain i get from my pelvis where i broke it at Mallory about 15 years ago. I could never ride far enough for it to really kick in before, the pain from my arse always forced me to stop first. Now 160 mile non stop runs are ok.

You don't have to blow them up very much at all to get the comfort, it fact it feels flat. but once you are sat on it and get the inflation just right its bloody great. I'm going to ask him to sell it to me.

The best comfort thing ive ever used.

In a couple of weeks time ive got either a 520 mile ride and then a 300 mile ride, or a 600 mile ride followed by a gallon or two of beer with the lads when i arrive.

A mate of mine has got one of those Airhawk inflatable cushions, which im going to borrow.

I'll let you know how i get on.

I'll tell you what gets my goat. You don't log on here for about a week because you're busy, and instantly people crawl out of the woodwork selling stuff you have been looking for, for bloody ages, for cheap money. Bikes, Carbon race cans, someone wanting to swap a loud blue flame can for a standard can, yes yes and yes again.

Bloody typical.

My favourite 'bikers' cafe, Castlewood Cafe, near Uttoxeter, shut down in January. I heard last week that it had reopened recently, under new ownership. Decided to have a ride over from Wrexham on a gorgeous sunny day. I was delighted to find it open again, and they have restarted Wednesday Bike Nights. Have to spread the word to all the old customers who may not know that it has risen from the ashes ! Apparently it is going to be called K1 Cafe.

Great, i'll have to see if i can get up there on Wednesday evening.

Hardly cruiser/highway pegs per se. Just 4 M6 grub screws turning something that is made to one job into something that does two.

Well, we've got the big ride to Premery in France, 600 miles in a day, in July. Previous years we have done it in two bites with a hotel and an almighty piss up, but this year its going to be a single blast. To try to get some blood flowing around the arse area i tried putting my feet on the crash bungs, but because they are plastic my boots tended to slip off, so you sort of have to hold you feet on the bungs with the muscles on the inside of your thighs, which hurts after a bit.
So, when i was sorting out my Stainless nuts and bolt the other night (the things you find to do when the wife puts X Factor on the TV) i found some nice little M6 Grub screws, and thought "They'll do!".

So after drilling and tapping and not going completely through with the tap, i screwed the grub screws in and they tightened on the partially cut thread at the bottom of the hole, so they cant rattle loose and fall out. I took the bike out the other day and it works perfectly, my feet now stay on the bungs with no effort at all. It was a lot more simple than what i had planned, which was bits of ally with upward curved ends, screwed to the top of the bungs and sticking out a bit. Sounded like a recipe for bleeding shins to me.

I'm really pleased with the job, only took 10 minutes too. My mate will want his doing when he see these, hes got my old Fazer.

Went up to the Ponderoasa for a sausage sandwich via the Raven Cafe for a cuppa, Llangollen and the Horseshoe Pass. Left everyone i went with there and rode home on my own via the A534 because i wanted a bit of a play.

There was a lovely Rudge Ulster up there.
