What is it with people raining on other people's parade? Go on mate, you fit that linkage and enjoy every minute of it. And I know why you'll enjoy it. You worked for the money to buy it. You know your bike needed it. You spent a week bidding on it. You won it. You will enjoy a bit of time in the garage fitting it and your bike and soul will be the better for it. Enjoy

Awesome GrahamB...

Good find and only a tenner... nice job..

Just got to fit it now... i am thinking maybe a slight bend and a little mod to the frame area..??

Will have to wait till it gets here .. fit it and see how much frame/bar interaction there is...

Hi Graham B..

See my thread "Gonna fit this.."

I bought an 2009/2010 arm after doing some research and finding a good article with pics on the old Yuku site..

There is some info here about the 1999/2001 models arm looking quite agricultural and the 2003 being the best looking one... but i think there is not much difference...

I would deffo look out for a 2009/2010 one as i think it both looks good and functions well according to "Luke" the man...  aka Devilsyam..!!

Look on the Yuku forum under "Tech & Mods" and the thread entitled "R1 gear shift mod done" lots of pics and great info..

Here:-

http://fazer1000.yuku.com/topic/3700/R1-gear-shift-mod-done

Hope this helps...

and the trailor?

Well the trailer ... I replaced the black box section in the photo (it had rusted very thin and twisted under the weight of the Fazer..LOL) and then welded in the stub axle..

Introduction / Hi to all...
« on: 01 December 2011, 05:00:11 pm »

Well been on here snooping around a while..

I have been riding bike for a few years now.. mainly fully faired bikes.. ZX7r's, breif spell on a CBR600f, YZF750's, then ZX9's, built a nice street fighter..

Then went fully faired..

Now gone and got myself a wicked Fazer1000.. silver Gen1... 50k miles on an 02 plate.. it needs sprucing up a bit.. p/o had it to commute into London for 9 yrs.. kept outside, home and work, and only occasionally hosed down..

Had a bit of a drama getting it home though...

What wrong with this picture?

All good in the end thanks to a nice recovery man and his flatbed...

So on to the list of jobs to do..

AIS removal - thanks Justy
R6 shock - thanks Devilsyam
Wheels powdercoated - Pristine wheels in Woburn (where i had my blue 9r ons done, superb job)
New wheel bearings
R1 shift linkage
Grease up and clean all over (every nut and bolt really)

Well hope to chat to you all
Ride safe

FZ6 / Fazer / Re: Tyres
« on: 01 December 2011, 03:24:16 pm »

Most people like 'em matched... i have bridgestone 021's on at the mo, front and rear, (it can like it) but have run bikes with mismatched tyres with no issues

My ZX9r i ran with a really sticky Racetec on the front and an Michelin pilot on the rear only because the Racetec was free and i needed to change the front for the MOT but it ran fine wet or dry with the mismatched and i quite liked the sticky up front and the harder wearing rear..

Your preference really and it depends on your budget but get the best you can afford..

My tuppence for ya..

Excellent vid find Minty..

How your spigot problem coming along?? are they really a PITA to get out because my bike has done 50,000 hard miles and the front end is really mucky and corroded...

Have ordered some anyway... so will see when they arrive.. got my carbs out for refurb and hopefully jet kit and so may take all AIS pipes and stuff off following PAT's pages pictures in anticipation of arrival of kit... how long did your take to arrive..?

Sounds awesome...

I have a Perf Worx carbon on mine and it still sounds muted with the baffle out...!!!  no where near as meaty as that Stubby GP..

Nice...
