FZS600 Fazer / Re: Carburetor Intake size for pod filters????????
« on: 28 October 2013, 08:36:09 am »
Well good luck with it I saw your post featuring the modded back end on a 600, Does look nice.!
Speaking for myself ,This time round in my biking career "The 3rd" I'm just enjoying bettering my riding skills and being constantly amazed at the levels of all round performence offered by even a mundane bike. I never got chance to better my riding in the 70's as I was constantly repairing or scrounging bits to repair the last disaster! Keep us posted on progress1

I also used to modify older bikes and cars for that matter ,I'm just glad that Yamaha do such a good job of making their bikes go so well
small areas can be improved a little but they are dam good out of the crate,

Seems a lot of trouble just to get the pod filter look.? reading betwean the lines of various posts on the 600 engine there does not seem to be much more power to be got out of it.I would think there is a lot more tweeks to be done with fuel injection
mainly because of the tighter immissions. Also with a power cammander its just a case of tweaking software. whereas in your case its removing carbs and lots of dyno runs. Do lots of research before dismantle

Personally I'd chase up the guy on the forum who went down this route.
I would think a dyno centre will charge you a fortune.

Somebody on the site spent some time getting the jetting  right.  I would be surprised if you get a performance improvement.
good luck though!

Why do you want to change from the airbox?
Just as an aside I was thinking of getting plastic airbox covers chromed, I saw some on a Bandit , looked good !

« on: 19 October 2013, 12:54:41 pm »
At one point I tried a big rifle screen on my thou. trouble was I was neither looking through it or over it.  on reflection I'd prefer to look over a screen during normal riding. I'm  5ft 7 ins !

I have a home made vario on my 02 Foxeye , I got the brackets from the mra importer for around £25 . I then cut of the top of an old screen ,keeping the reinforced top edge. Works very well.  Strange that a proper vario is poor on my thou!

Fairing repairs are easy if the mounting luggs are ok and you have a bit of common sense and patience.
I had a low speed of last year ,I bought a damaged one on e bay for not much , then repaired  and airosol painted it over a couple of week ends.
Things to be aware of though , your clock mountings could be damaged , main fairing bracket could be bent " this throws out of alignment the infill mountings. transfers are expensive, My fairing  is a silver colour , I found that a Mazda metalic silver was very close

General / Re: Heated Grips
« on: 12 October 2013, 07:28:22 pm »
I have roxter grips on both my fazers, these are a budget oxford's . I fitted them to both bikes as changing to the thinner non heated grips took a while to adgust to. The grips work well . but a heated jacket is much better, my partner and myself got ours from e bay around £30 each
best biking extra I have ever used. I haven't seen them advertised for a while, a  company called polar heat . the oxford jacket looks similar but they are not £30. I wear a thin long sleeved edz under the heated waist coat with a kidney belt over it this presses the warmth against my body.
only problem I encounter now in winter is a tendancy for the helmet to mist up when I wear a balaclava

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Which Exhaust
« on: 26 September 2013, 04:45:48 pm »
I have a Carbon Can Co oval road legal can fitted. I find its a love hate situation, on a long ride the extra noise can be tiring, despite earplugs!
On a short ride the 4 cylinder howl is quite cool.
Don't expect a power improvement . A race can will totally kill the mid range throttle responce.

I would contact Mike G /Falcon 269 for  definitive advice I was warned that a race can would kill mid range (no ivanise) and it did!

If it does as much as you want it to do why change anything, If it ain't broke don't fix it! My thou pogo'd so I fit an r6 shock, after wasting £80 getting a standard shock re gassed ,  you pays yer money etc !

If your thou is not Ivanised , I would not bother changing to a race can as it will kill mid range!

The exup on the thou kills a lot of noise .I tried a viper race can on both my fazers , I could live with it on the thou but on the 600 instant head ache
Ive settled on a quill can on my thou , no different noise wise to standard

Hi mail me at bwizz60@googlemail.com,  just needs tidying and painting, I bought one in a similar damaged condition, and repaired it over a few days, then swapped everything over, unfortunately there was damage that i was not aware of on the clock mounts and also the main fairing bracket was bent, but the fairing repair was  the easy bit, transfers are dear  keep this in mind !
