This is one off my 2003.

I replaced it with one off an R1 as they are a fair bit shorter.  Makes gearchanges much nicer (probably my favorite mod really as it affects all round use).

A gauntlet of fair weather boys in the petrol station this evening.  Went in the shop just before me and made a predictable, lengthy, and frankly embarrassing scene when asked to remove their helmets.
They eventually did.  So I pay and exit, the bikers are now sat on a nearby wall smoking fags while one said "Geoff won't be long he is only coming from widnes".  So they were clearly intending to wait anyway and just wanted an excuse to argue with the garage guy...

I've had renthal 758's on both my fazers and didn't have weights in either.  I used the renthal plastic plugs (just thin inserts that cover the holes) and never had any issues with vibration, certainly not more than the standard ones.

Just one relay is required, it's a like for like replacement so just unplug the standard one and plug in the new.

Same connection as standard but need a different flasher relay as they are led, they are a plug and play replacement and cost three pounds

They look good I think although currently they are fitted on the std rubbers which means they are too wide really.  I will make some proper mounts in due course.  They are certainly more visible than stock ones due to the movement.

Tenner for all 4 plus a flasher relay for three pounds. Cheap as chips.

You can knock the ring around with a rod or large screw driver but it's not ideal.  Just get a c spanner off ebay.

Dry tools wrapped in a rag and put in  couple of those thick zip lock freezer bags.     If you wrap that in another rag so it doesn't rub on owt it will last years and be waterproof.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Rear tyre balancing question
« on: 24 March 2018, 08:22:27 pm »
The "cog" (and carrier) just pulls off as it's only held in the wheel by the friction of the cush rubbers.  It is always removed for balancing.  I've never seen anyone remove a disk to balance a wheel...

I've had a few sets off ebay. After 50k miles they still looked new when I sold the bike. Put some rear ones on my current fazer when I put an r1 rear wheel on. They are great.

If they are anything like the Gen1 the bolts have relatively large diameter shoulders that slot into the disk carrier.  Seeing as a set of SS bolts is only around £25-£30 is it worth having ill fitting bolts in?  Unless you can get bolts like that of course, if so have you got a link?

I thought there was one as well but my current bike came with two, both yamaha ones, one is larger than the other...

The one on the seat is for a d-lock iirc.  The two under the seat are for the toolkits, my old fazer only had one but my new one has two...

Fit a fresh set of heated grips after my throttle one burnt out... Was only 20 quid more to buy the whole lot new rather than just getting a replacement grip...

Decided to finally bleed my rear brake... Found an old bottle of "turtle wax" while looking for my bleed kit so gave it a wash and wax, then clocked a really old bottle of brasso polish so did the silencer! Proper shiney...

But did you get around to bleeding that brake?

Yeah, of course the little bolt holding the reservoir to its thin plastic hanger had seized so had to drill that out...

For Sale & Wanted / Re: What Fazer / commuter to buy

I commute in a gen 1 thou. Perfect for the job, get 200 miles out of a tank easily, low revs at cruise speed, plenty of power when you want it.
