Fitted some secondhand acerbis dual roads and went out for a couple of hours to see what difference they made.

Definately better for my poor fingers,

Thanks peeps for the suggestions, I decided to skip the horse semen and have ordered some g5.

I forgot that I had tried polish and nickwax years ago, I must be going senile. Anyway thought I'd try the hi tech route this time.

« on: 08 November 2013, 12:05:23 am »
Anyone know of any secondhand fairing lowers for an FZS1000 fazer. Or a company or website  where you can order new ones. I have seen the TCP website but you cant seem to order off there, just email them.

General / water repellent for visors
« on: 08 November 2013, 12:01:40 am »
Does anyone have recommendations or suggestions for products to use on the outside of your visor to help make the water run off, without having to keep wiping.

Thanks in advance.  :)

General / Re: Thinking of one tooth less...
« on: 11 September 2013, 11:04:17 pm »
I dropped one tooth on the front and increased one tooth on the back. It has increased acceleration but the engine needs about 500 extra rpm at 70mph so at. A given speed it is more buzzy and the miles per gallon has suffered for the same reason.
If you like lots of twisty frenetic short blasts then the extra acceleration is a hoot. If you do lots of motorway or high mileage then you need to take this into account. I get about 170 miles to a tank on this setup with mixed riding so I am thinking of going back to 15 on the front and leaving the 1 extra on the back.

General / Re: Longest Recreational Distance
« on: 08 September 2013, 09:28:16 pm »
I Live near Newcastle upon Tyne and my recreational rides either go in the Whitby direction, lake district or Scotland. All A and B roads.
Usually about 150 to 200 miles.

However today I went to the Falkirk Wheel 345 miles round trip, my longest day.

General / Re: When did you pass your test and how difficult was it?
« on: 27 August 2013, 10:25:51 pm »
1985, had to do a cbt then a test riding round a block with the examiner running around, lol.
Passed both 1st time and took 3 attempts to pass my car test two years later.

Thanks for sharing, the best move ever, great memories.

I bought a polishing kit off eBay, chocked under the engine, took off the front wheel and mudguard, stripped the legs and polished them in place then lacquered them so I didn't have to keep polishing them.

I think a couple of people have fitted this now, did you bother setting the engine to TDC before swapping them or just go for as is.

Here are mine, in my teens I had a 125 superdream, passed my test and got a 400 superdream.
Fell off a few times and changed to a car.
Got married, had kids, no funds etc.
Twenty odd years later got given a ropey gs500, did that up nd got the bug again, needed something more my size so got the boxeye.
Now on a fazer 1000.

Saw a blue Fazer in west woodburn,  a red and a yellow Fazer separately on my travels to st Mary's loch.
Gave them all a nod, got none back.
