I tend to agree. I could agree more or less if I actually knew what was what lol

Anyhow, the lot has to go. We want a combi fitted asap. I'm just trying to work out what is there first so I know what I'll need to do when we get the keys and move in. At the moment I have limited info - a couple of photo's, so it's a lot of guess work.

here is a better link - should be a bit clearer

Looks like an expansion vessel, but it's way too small. also seems too big for a valve.

Check out some of the new computer based cameras. A small pc or nas box and several cameras would be ok - but make sure they are not the cheap and nasties that have weak security and can be hacked. Wired it always better than wireless.

That nucrete site looks to be just about what I'm thinking of. All I need for the for the first few years is somewhere secure for the bike till I can save up and get a proper garage/workshop built.

All I seem to do on here now is post questions on every subject apart from the sodding bike lol.

This time it's garages. We're about to buy a house and the question is cheaper without a garage and build one myself or more expensive with one ready made. Problem is I've no idea how much a garage costs; either just materials and self build or get a local builder to do the lot.

Anyone know what sort of figures we're looking at?

(p.s. on the subject of the bike - did the front disc the other day and every single nut came out a treat  :D )

Yes in a way (strictly speaking the load is A x V (V X A = P when P is power in Watts))

You haven't seen my phone lol

mAh - does apply to all batteries; it's a measure of capacity.

One thing that never seem to be quoted - the exposure time. Obviously is gonna be different on a digital camera, but I remember friends having things that would blur an image unless you stood perfectly still for 20 minutes.

Any ideas how long a set of batteries last? I also remember digital cameras that would kill a set of AA's in 30 mins.

I'm looking to get a cheap digital camera - the £60 price mark.

I know sod all about the latest and greatest camera tech so I'm open to advice.

I know that optical zoom is better than digital.

I know that the more pixels the better the image quality, but above the 16 Mega Pixel mark I probably won't notice the difference.

Do I want a camera which takes AA batteries or one with Li-Ion cells? What else should I look for or avoid?

For Sale & Wanted / Re: Front break discs
« on: 10 July 2013, 08:10:54 am »
Well, lets hope they come out. the ones on the rear disc didn't. Well, they did in the end but they took the thread with them and all ended up needing heli-coils.

The one inside the stirrup is captive and you don't undo it. Undo the one on top the stirrup (the lock nut) and then use the one at the top of the thread to adjust it.

Might be worth getting/downloading the manual....?

Don't think mine will pass the MOT (October), so need a set by then.

(Anyone changed any before? Old ones come off ok?)

General / Re: Advance stop lines (asl's/ bike boxes) A WARNING!
« on: 09 July 2013, 09:07:18 pm »
Rule 178:
Quote
Motorists, including motorcyclists, MUST stop at the first white line reached if the lights are amber or red and should avoid blocking the way or encroaching on the marked area at other times

Note the use of the word "reached". You do not have to stop at the first stop line, but the first stop line you reach when the lights change. So, depending on speed and when they change you could legally stop at the second line.

Meant to post an update - swapped the starter with one from the breakers and it's fine now. Took the old one apart and the brushes are worn out.  Starter from breaker £45, brush set from Yamaha £39.40 + vat.

Problem is you need the o-ring and gasket if you take the motor out.
If I had more time I would, but for simplicities sake I'll just replace it. I can look at repairing and selling the old motor if need be.

I've decided to get a second hand one from Fazer Spares (I only work about 3 miles from them). The ebay one is interesting though. Also interesting to note he accepts no returns - an illegal position.

Does any have the (or link to) parts list for the Mk1 Fazer (I used to have a PDF, but can't find it now)?

Confirmed it's not the battery. Managed to get a friend to bring his car over and checked with jump leads.

yesterday  :rollin

Was on charge all night.

I think I'll hold on getting battery and check the wiring/solenoid. Hopefully that will show the issue and I won't need to pull the starter apart.
