A Note to Garage: If it needs doing, do it. If it doesn't and its not unsafe, why mention it ???

Continental Road Attack 2's are well suited to the FZS600 (well they suit mine) and they have 110 fronts available  :)

Courier which has been quoted for me.
I used to be a pub manager but sacked for breaching health and safety - I rode my rossi rep minibike through the pub!
I'd had enough by then anyway, never do that job again!

Awesome. Respect the Punkstig  :D

« on: 23 April 2014, 09:26:52 am »
Well my biking life started on a CB50J that my dad bought for me 2nd hand for my 16th Christmas. At 17 I sold it and passed my test and bought an LC. I loved that bike and had it for a few years until I was 21 when I bought an 18 month old GSXR750M. 21 Years later I still have the 750M but age has taken its toll and I don't find sportsbikes comfortable in any way. I have always sacrificed other luxuries to satisfy my hunger for bikes and have owned multiple and varied bikes over the years but have always hung onto the GSXR as it just reminds me of really happy times. In 2007 I saw a silver Gen 1 in Stratstones at Clay Cross (now known as CMC). I sat on it and loved the looks and the comfort compared to what I had been used to but it was just out of my price range and the dealer wouldn't budge so I walked away but had developed a soft spot for the brand. I put it out of my mind and continued with sportsbikes until 2009 when I saw a beautiful black Gen 1 parked up in Matlock. I hung around until the owner finally came back to it. We got chatting and he stated he was looking to sell it to fund his passion for MotoX. I made him an offer and picked it up 2 days later. I had never even ridden one but the ride home of around 50 miles made me realise what I had been missing all those years. It had sportsbike power, looked beautiful, handled as well as it looked and was the most comfortable thing I had ever slung a leg over. The Gen 1 is such good value for money its almost obscene. I hope I never have to sell it.

I bought my boxeye on a bit of a whim off Ebay for £1000 as I wanted something to put loads of miles on and save the Gen 1 for sunny Sundays. I didn't even go and look at it prior to making my bid but it just seemed like the way forward at the time. I have spent a few bob on it over the 18 months of owning it but the money has mainly gone on consumables and tidying it up a bit. I didn't regret the purchase and its been a cracking little bike. I find it a little bit underpowered but in the real world its all you really need. Having said that I will look to replacing it over the next year or two for something with a bit more umph but it will be a reluctant sale.

« on: 18 April 2014, 03:06:08 am »
"They all do that Sir".

Seriously though, they could well show signs of cracking on the outside but could still be very serviceable. The cracks have to be pretty bad for them to affect the running of the bike. Cosmetically they look rubbish but unless your bike is running like a bag of spanners I would save your money.

Regards

I must say if done right it could be a benefit. I'm actually having a tough time looking using search for info that I know is out there in the world of foc-u

That's my point. Come on foccers, lets make things easier on ourselves  ;)

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Baffled by my Exhaust
« on: 09 April 2014, 08:13:16 pm »
I feel your pain but I'm sure that most of the time you love your Fazer. Machinery is always a pain in the ass when something threatens to defeat us. The love will come back when you get this sorted. However, I'm not entirely sure I understand the problem. I have no idea what a graphite or a steel wool gasket are. I fitted an SP Engineering link pipe and end can to my boxeye some time ago and was supplied with stainless exhaust clamps to tighten the manifold onto the link pipe and then the link pipe onto the end can. A certain degree of manipulation was required to get the side stand bung plate to line up but its a question of taking your time and walking away for an hour if you start getting frustrated. I reinforced the seal at both ends of the link pipe by smearing a bit of silicone gasket inside the mating surfaces before fitting it all together. It may not have needed it but I did it just to make sure.

Just calm down and have another go at it over the next few days when you formulated a different attack plan.

By the way, buying another bike will only bring you a different set of problems or maybe even the same problems but on a different bike. They're machines and its what they do  :\

FZS600 Fazer / Re: ACF 50
« on: 09 April 2014, 12:59:59 am »
When I first looked into ACF 50 I was given the impression fromm all the bumpf that it would dry and leave behind a protective coat but it just stays a tacky mess

That's true but its a tacky mess that saves exposed metal turning to shite.

FWIW a chap at work recently test rode an MT07 and said he had only done about 10 miles when he decided to turn around and take it back. He said the engine was weedy and gutless and it was obviously a cheap bike for a reason, feeling very cheap to ride.

Despite them being released around the same time and having similar styling I get the feeling the MT07 and the MT09 are very different animals.

How it fits depends on which bellypan you have bought. I guess they all fit in a similar manner but there are a few different makes/models out there.

Some pictures might help.

How could it run out of momentum ? It would be a section dedicated to Fazer modifications and restoration that people seem to be doing all the time on this forum.

Try looking in the least logical place 1st. No doubt that's where you will find it. I don't know how clean your garage is but mine is pretty tidy and it has still taken me hours to find items I have dropped before. If you have any amount of clutter in your garage it will have most definitely rolled under something. With metal parts I generally use one of those telescopic/pen type magnets and push it into every corner I can get to until hopefully hearing a satisfying little clink revealing the offending item attached to the end of it.

Good luck with the search  ;)

Seriously though, getting back on topic. If enough foccers think this is a good idea who is able to update the forum and introduce a section like this ??? I have seen a section on another site headed 'Tech and Restoration' which covers modifications and how they are done. Surely its a winner. Can one of our worthy site moderators do such a thing ?

The 1st sticky thread would obviously have to be Luke's R6 shock Mod due to the number of people have done it and the number of questions that get asked about it. Not unlike the R1 front end conversion etc. I just think it would be good to have all this info in a dedicated section. It would also save a lot of needless questions.

Admin/Moderators/anyone ???

I think ive got Z tunnel vision right now...i love its looks, the reviews, its size, jap reliability, cheap finance options.

Look forward to trying it out.

Yamaha have shot themselves in the foot for the likes of me anyway...aspiring new bike owners on a budget.....the finance generation.....the must have nows & foc pensions :lol .......8% apr on a MT is bad.....& its not for credit crunch reasons...they are clearly selling them to the folk with the readies already......they offer 0% on the fazers to try sell them but they reveal that 0% is possible...which kinda focs me off......but beggars cant be choosers & im a beggar :o .

Kwak are ticking all the right boxes.

Nearly new is a good point...i can get a nearly new still on 0% but a grand cheaper...some of them only have 100 miles on the clock.

DO it Do it Do it. Live the dream that us poor foccers can only think about  :'(

I believe that is the intention of the "hot poop" page (which can be found on the navigation bar). Perhaps it does require updating though..

No kidding. I had a look in there and its a bit sparce to say the least  :\
