QuoteYamaha didn't bother responding to my email after asking me for the chassis/VIN number. They must have got bored answering. Or thought 'go to foc-u'![]()
Been reading up. It looks like the fzs1000 had the shitty 2nd gear until 2002 production year. Used to be part 5jj1712100 which got upgraded to 5jj17121 from 2003 onwards.Could be just the second gear cog

My question is. When splitting the block and going for my repair, any idea as to what parts will probably need to be replaced?

My two bob's worth and friendly advice only, tell me to piss off if you want.
Keep it ..... join a local RoSPA Advanced group and change your style of riding!
and be VERY well behaved for as long as the points are active.
You'd miss it if it wasn't there and you are just as likely to get nicked in your car in a 30mph limit as you are on a bike. Just re-think how you ride/drive.
Best wishes

Just a note on the Ignitor 5LV-82305-00, it is only suitable for FZS1000 models with the lights on/off switch on the the right handle bar and possibly the US imports.
Not suitable for the 2003 0nwards models that automatically switch on the lights when the engine starts. The ignitor controls the switching on of the lights and has an extra wire to do this.
Hi
Just wondering if you still have wiring loom?
Cheers
Dave
Looked at the white connector a little bit of white oxide on the contacts so cleared with contact cleaner, and re connected. Short 40 miles and all appears to be ok,
Only time will tell.
Exup all ok.
How will i know if it is the correct wiring diagram for my bike?![]()
Why on earth did you not ask on here first when you saw a bunch of black wires. It's is a 5 minute job when you know how to do it. Now it is a totally different ball game and the chance of doing damage increasing exponentially.
Do you have the correct wiring diagram for the model of bike you have, there are 3 different wiring diagrams maybe even 4.
What bike do you have send a picture of the under seat code?
