General / Re: roadside puncture repair
« on: 02 September 2018, 09:15:39 pm »
I was speaking to a guy at my local bike meet today who said he used the plug type repair same as these, the repair bit was ever so slightly proud of the tyre for a few days after the fix. He set off from the lights one time a bit spirited like and it ripped the repair out of the tyre. I guess they are only supposed to be a temporary fix like, but I thought I'd mention it as something to bear in mind.

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Swap To Hazard Light Switch?
« on: 01 September 2018, 11:56:52 pm »
I did the swap for the later model switchgear to get the hazards when I was teaching people to ride bikes as it was occasionally useful if the stalled and stuck in wrong gear and take a while to get them sorted out.

It was a straight swap, I don't think I had to change the relay but it was so long ago I can't be sure, the relay should say on it if it is ok for 4 X 21w bulbs.  Later models have the  hazards linked to the parking light position on the ignition switch which you don't get if you just swap the switchgear but not really a problem.

Thanks Jules  :)

I have the same kit as the Fowlers one but without the air canisters. Never had to use it yet, touch wood, but it doesn't fit under my seat anyway!
I've been thinking of getting the Dynaplug kit, nice and compact.
Glad it worked, be good to know if the bike feels any different with the plug in the tyre.

Not sure it's really worth the hassle unless your planning on breaking down a lot. Smile

Not really if I can help it  :lol
It's just something I'd like to add to the bike if it's possible, where there's a will there's a way an' all that  :)

FZS600 Fazer / Swap To Hazard Light Switch?
« on: 30 August 2018, 07:36:34 pm »
Hi all, just wondering if I can swap to a new LH switch gear on my '99 Fazer so it has hazard lights?
Is the wiring/plugs the same between the two switches? Would I need to add any extras such as a different flasher relay etc?
Looking at photos between the two I can see that one of the plugs is a different colour but I'm unsure if they are interchangeable between years.
Anyone else done this?
Thanks in advance.

Abuse is abuse no matter where it comes from. It's not ok and you don't have to put up with it.
Although it is admirable that you want to stay for your children, what you are actually doing is giving them a standard by which to measure their future relationships. It might be worth finding a proper organisation, website or group for in depth support. They will help you to make the best and safest decisions for you, your partner and your children.

Best of luck.

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Logbook Query
« on: 25 July 2018, 06:30:46 pm »
Thanks BBROWN1664.
For anyone having this issue in future I just found out I would need to send off a form V70 with the V5 filled in with any changes marked on it, a current MOT certificate plus a cheque for any difference in tax rates and they should be able to make the changes.
Sounds too easy!
Thanks for the advice all, much appreciated.

Have you tried Wemoto? Or maybe Fowlers?

That should be 'MOTORCYCLE'

Isn't 'Scooter Combination' for trikes?.

I didn't think it was right  :lol
How difficult would any discrepancies on the V5 be to change? Would it have to be through DVLA or VOSA?
I'd imagine there will be a few hoops to jump through and some kind of hefty fee along the way  :rolleyes

Hadn't thought about Ireland, good shout.
I thought the taxation class should have been Motorcycle, my mistake  :lol

Clocks look original and are in MPH, no discrepancies are flagging up with old MOT's in regards to mileage and everything tallies up.
Already checked frame and engine numbers against the V5 and all seems to be ok in that respect.
Appreciate the reply, thanks.

FZS600 Fazer / Logbook Query
« on: 23 July 2018, 08:21:52 pm »
Hi guys,
I'm looking into buying an FZS600 that has been off road a while.
I asked for the reg so I could run a check on it and it's coming back as a different colour, it is a 1999 bike but shows as registered in 2012.
In the special notes at the bottom it says 'Was registered and/or used elsewhere in the UK. Declared manufactured in 1999'.
Date of registration is 1999, date of first registration in the UK is 2012, does this make it an import?
I was thinking maybe Guernsey or Jersey or possibly France?
It's also on the V5 that the body type is Scooter Combination, and taxation class is Bicycle, can someone confirm what these should be for an FZS600? I thought they were Sports Tourer or something like that?
Just want to clear these things up before I commit to anything and to ask if anyone knows if the details are wrong can it be easily changed?
Thanks in advance.

« on: 21 October 2017, 01:29:47 am »
They have all the different fittings to suit whatever you need.

The ones I ordered arrived yesterday. Much easier to install than a standard bulb as they are slightly smaller (fitting rear bulbs in a Fazer is an art). They work really well and exactly what I was after.

So thank you Northern Biker for the recommendation.

You're welcome buddy, glad you found some you are happy with  :thumbup

I got fed up with buying the cheap crap from eBay and the likes, so my latest set are from a company called Classic Car LEDs. They are made for classic cars and work very well in red coloured lenses or clear ones. Granted they are dearer, my last pair of stop/tail bulbs cost £15 but hell you can tell the difference in quality and performance.

Haha, no worries buddy, none taken at all. Should have mentioned I've been into bikes for years but was never in a position to get my license until recently.

Hi, welcome to the mad house. The 600 Fazer's a great choice to save for, it's not only a good starter bike, many of us on here have been riding for years, it's a great bike.
Just don't go buying the 1st cheap one you find, there are a lot of real snotters out there and it's easy to get your fingers burnt. It almost always costs more to make a cheap bike good than to buy a good one in the first place. Have you got anyone who knows about bikes who can point you towards a decent one? Good luck with the saving, we all look forward to hearing that you've found one. They're a knowledgeable and patient bunch on here so feel free to ask any questions. Just a word of advice, there's a guy an here who goes by the name Tommyardin, the chances are he'll tell you at some point to buy a silver one... Don't. They're really slow. :lol :lol

Hi Vinny, some great advice there, thanks pal.
I'm an ex Car Mechanic but I know my way around bikes too, so I don't mind a bit of a project if I'm honest!
If i do find one that needs a bit of love i'll start a project thread somewhere for anyone who might be interested.
Thanks everyone for the kind welcome, looking forward to getting a bike and getting stuck in on here  8)
