« on: 20 October 2011, 05:34:51 pm »
I had a blackbird that had an alarm and I kept it on an optimiser over the winter, that actualy killed the battery, what I did in the end is use a timer and only charge at certain hours, that way the battery only got what it needed and it was allowed to discharge as well

well i got my exup valve from the states, which is a bonus as it has not had the salt treatment that we get here in the uk,i dont thing the bike that the exup valve came off has done a lot of miles, even the screws that came with it look like they have not been used, but i have to strip it as it sounds a bit squeaky

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / exup bearing price shock
« on: 19 October 2011, 08:04:10 pm »
how can yamaha justify the price of the exup bearing price? it is £41.10 inc vat for what is just a steel tube, luckily there is a motorcycle dealer selling them for £16.35 plus post which i think is still expensive, and why do i need it,both of my bearings are very worn, luckily the replacement exup valve is from a low mileage bike so has little wear on it but the breakers where i got my down pipes from took the bearing out
here is the ebay page if anyone needs one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290615237103?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

Thanks Ghosty

Do you have torque settings for the bolts?   I already have the bolts, and a wrench but gow did you hold the socket over the bolts on the disc?   Was it easy?   When I was having my rear wheel replaced in the then Blays of Twickenham,   they had sheared most of the bolts off, and had to drill them out,  which was why I thought the job might be beyond me.

They did an excellent job on drilling out all the exup bolts and setting it up.  Different bods I guess.

mick
the torque for the bolts is 18nm and you will need some loctite

i have a renegade silencer on my bike and i have to admit it is not over noisey, but as i live in a close residental area im fitting a standard silencer as i leave for work at 530am and dont want to upset too many people as some are old and some have young children, when funds are available i will get a better can and keep it legal,my vfr750 actualy sounds very nice with the removable baffles out and not over noisey,my firestorm used to set car alarms off, when i first got the firestorm i had art cans on it,i rode into a small town with narrow streets with a police car behind me,that bike was loud but i never got pulled on it

the selector forks are the same but the shift druum is unique to the fazer 600,the gears and internal shafts are the same

Dont forget to put plenty of 'HIGH TEMP' anti seize paste/grease (not copper slip) on them or they will just seize up again!

Hi, I always thought Coppaslip WAS high temp grease. What is the difference, and what High temp paste do you use?
Copaslip®Copaslip® (often misspelled as copperslip or coppaslip) - the original anti-seize compound. It is a very high temperature (up to 1100°C) anti-seize assembly compound, bentone based non-melt grease with copper, polybutene, and anti-corrosion additives.

they will look the nuts! for sure.

they will have to be long enough to tighten the collars sufficiently before doming out as it were. they don't have a high torque rating (surprisingly and thankfully) only 15lbft.

what's the link? it's a brilliant idea that i'd like to copy blatently if you don't mind.

here is the link on ebay for 10 nuts http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/370170347721?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
