Andy - I am getting the vibe that you don't like staying upright? :(
I like being upright. But if you have to go slower then everything else it's nice to be able to see things in your mirrors. I'm looking forward to riding on a warm day where I don't have to choose between going 3 mph faster or having the vents on my jacket open.
Reaspect! :thumbup

Always reckon a true biker will ride any bike any distance regardless of size..

That makes me a true biker! :)

FZ1 Gen2 owner who has just ridden 80miles on a YBr125 :sun

We own The Fat Maggot Clothing Company and can be found printing stuff (normally rude stuff) on tees and hoodies in a field somewhere in the country on most weekends.

Just been on your website. Some fantastic stuff there Deefer. I will certainly be a customer of yours by the end of the night. :)

Made it yet?

Hi Rusty - Couldn't have asked for better weather - apart from the freezing head /sidewind which limited me to 50mph all the way - although I did get to 68mph & overtook a wagon on the A1 just outside Peterborough. I know - photo or it didn't happen. :b

Like paul1606 - I froze me nads off & all my other extremities & was burstin for a pee for the last 20 miles. Anyway as the title of the thread...It was an experience! :D

But not as much as.......
Jumping on the Gen2 an hour after getting home & riding it. I L-O-V-E that bike! :sun

Thanks for all the replies & support folks!   :thumbup

Plan to get in the slipstream of a wagon & sit at 55mph. If the A14 is gridlocked as usual then the 125 should come into its own filtering. Just hope its not raining.

Gotta be worth a bj off the missus! :D

Dangle the left leg off the peg & away she blows!  :)

Won a YBR125 on fleabay for the missus & am picking it up tomorrow.

I've decided to ride it back the 80 miles from Suffolk to Peterborough. The route consists of mainly the A14 /A1 - two of the best driving / riding roads in the country(not!) - as I've said....it will be an experience.  :)

Soon as I get back ( after a cup of tea & a thaw out) I'm jumping on my Gen2 FZ1 to take it to my mates unit to put in storage for the next couple of (snowy) months.

I wonder if I'll notice much difference going from 12bhp to 150bhp?  ;)

General / Re: How often do you change your oil
« on: 26 January 2014, 08:46:29 pm »
Hey Lew this is my mantra about winter storage.

I stick my bike in the shed at start of winter & i dont start it once until summer.....after an oil chamge.

As you sort of say my reasoning is that all the moisture & crap last years oil will not do the engine any good being chucked around the engine for 30 seconds at high revs once a week.

I just let it sit and accumulate...flush it out end of winter, replace with nice and fresh stuff and woola bobs my uncle fannys my aunt.

If it worked last year for me then maybe a fluke...if it works this year that's a trend. :)

The alternative to this is:

Do an oil change BEFORE you store it: Less chance of it emulsifying  (i.e separating) - Better when you start up the engine after it's winter lay off! :)

Brake Fluid: Replace every 2 years as its hygroscopic i.e. absorbs moisture & deteriorates - Therefore stops you stopping! (NEVER a good thing!)

What really pisses me off is when you go into the bank to withdraw money(cash) & they ask you what you want it for!

Apart from it being " My F**king money & I can do what I want with it" Grr!!!

I once replied that I was going to use it to buy heroin. It took over 45 minutes for me to withdraw my money. Funny as fook tho! :)

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Bike blown over in high winds today
« on: 26 January 2014, 08:02:28 pm »
I always worry about the high winds as I keep mine outside under a cover. Only takes one strong gust to get under your gusset & off you go!
I often keep mine on the center stand as well - can never decide whether this is more stable than the side stand? :think

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Removing OE Exhaust
« on: 26 January 2014, 07:55:21 pm »
As a certified eejit new to the forum - I would like to ask the following questions:

1) If / When I remove the OE exhaust (end can) what should I expect?

2) What effect will removing the EXUP valve have on the bike

3) Will it pass it's emissions test(UK) without the CAT /OE can

4)Would I have to put the OE silencer back on each time to pass the MOT? See? I just asked dat question before! What an EEJIT!!!!  :rolleyes

Going to buy a new end can when funds allow & these are on my shopping list (in no particular order):

Yoshimura TRC

MIVV Ghibli

Leo Vince GP Pro

Remus Powercone.

Has anyone got one of the above? I'm not after an increase in HP (Honest) just a better looking /souding can than the OE one.

Thanks in advance

Drax :thumbup

Well, have you got it yet?

See the previous owner has a VXR, likes his fast motors then!

Yes locksmith - picked it up this afternoon. Fortunately the sun came out a bit & the roads were fairly dry. :)

I got my figures wrong in a previous post - The last service on the bike was carried out on 11/12/11 @ 6752 miles.

I took it straight in for a service today 18/01/14 @ 6773 & I rode it 16 miles to the dealers.

I'm over the moon with it & can't wait for the better weather.....& to get the bike back next week of course!  :D

Then it wont be long and you will be hunting for those extra 5 to 10 hp :lol

Make it balls out, they are amazing fun

It's currently got the standard can fitted in black. I'm looking at replacing it -when the finances allow -with either ( in no particular order):

Leo Vince GP Pro

Mivv ghibli

Yoshimura TRC

Remus Powercone

Kitcrazy - you wouldn't happen to have a copperdawg speedscreen 2 for sale by any chance would you?  ;)

Cheers Mickey.

Slim - Yes I intend to look after it very well indeed - it's only done 250miles in the last 18 months & has been stood for over 12months  :eek so its straight to the garage for a full service & fluid change. Then it's going to be stored till spring? - No way am I riding this baby through winter!

Red - It was/ is a standard color on the 2010 ABS model. I've been waiting a while for one to come up & have hopefully managed to get a good one.  :)
