Nothing to do with me whatsoever , just one I came across while searching for my next Fazer  :)

And almost as far away from you as could be, but....it's cheap!

For anyone interested, I have met Terry in person and viewed this bike in the flesh,  it is in really nice condition with a very sweet engine and Terry is a very nice chap. Anyone looking for a great condition box eye with low miles then this bike is definitely worth a look, I was very tempted but have an itch for a Foxeye after owning 4 x boxeyes

FZS600 Fazer / Re: My FZS600
« on: 28 December 2013, 04:45:53 pm »
Very nice, always did like the blue ones but in five Fazers have never had one, anyway "may" be in the market for another very soon, so....

how many miles?, where are you located? And what sort of price are you thinking?

Thanks

For Sale & Wanted / Re: Exhaust upgrade
« on: 18 November 2013, 03:58:13 pm »
I've had 4 x FZS 600 and changed the can on all of them, if it is just the end can you mean then my observations are thus:

Best looking - ART endcan, especially colour coded, but not often seen secondhand nowadays, easy to fit, slides on/off the link pipe very simply, didn't have removable baffle but never had an issue at MOT, was nice sounding

Best quality - Scorpion, not the cheapest but again easy to fit, sounded nice and had a removable baffle so no worries at MOT time

Least fave - Fuel endcan - not the easiest to fit (for me at least) and quite loud even with the baffle in, not my personal favourite as didn't like the looks of it much either

Best value - £89 380mm stubby jobbies from eBay , easy to fit , sounded great, had a removable baffle and looked okay as well

Fitting is pretty much take the original can and connected pipe off, clean joints etc, add gasket (although I didn't always bother). Fit new link pipe, fit can to pipe, line up with bracket, tighten everything up and off you go, about an hour or so max for me and I'm not very technical

Of course if you are looking to replace the whole system that is a different kettle of peanuts that I am sure someone else can help you with

FZS600 Fazer / Re: after market rad guard
« on: 11 November 2013, 01:15:17 pm »
If this is one of the £24.99 jobbies from eBay then I also had issues fitting to my 600 2001 box eye fazer, it was just too tight to line up with the side plate holes, and yes I removed the side plates.

In the end I had to file out the holes on the guard to make them wider and then it just about fitted, but I was never really happy with it as it bowed out slightly, it seemed the bend in each side of the guard was not quite in the right place.

Many years ago I had a Beowulf guard fitted to a 2000 600 box eye and it fitted beautifully with no issues, I don't know whether it is the guard at fault or a change in the radiator fitted to different years, I had my suspicions it was the guard.

Just my tuppence worth

Fitted my new eBay £99 380mm not quite a stubby endcan (easy fit, seems good quality and sounds very nice) and then rode the estuary / coast road in glorious sunshine from Exeter down to Babbacombe, thru Starcross, Dawlish and Teignmouth to meet an old buddy for coffee, then blasted back up the A380.....nice day.

Thanks, just bought a set, left my last ones on my last Fazer (doh!) and from memory they cost @£25 from a dealer so even with £2.99 post they are a good price.

For Sale & Wanted / Re: Wanted - Fazer 600 (again!)
« on: 14 August 2013, 01:53:31 pm »
Now sorted, thanks to everyone who pm'd me.

Didn't quite get what I wanted as nothing local and desperate for a bike while I am on hols, so in the end I got:

Gold 99 FZS600, 16k miles, service history, taxed and MOT till next March, not mint by any means but no rust just a few marks and rides perfectly, all for £1100 which I am very happy with.

Plan to keep as is apart from putting on a cheap endcan, ride it till next March, put a new MOT on it, sell it and then look again for the mint foxeye I really want

All the best

Hi,

I might have a boxeye coming in in px for a racing sidecar I'm selling. Its on a Y plate, very good nick with 9500 KM on the clock. I'm not sure exactly why its in KM but I will find out and confirm. It is a UK spec bike tho. I was hoping for a bit more then 1700 but I could do that for a quick sale. I'm up north in Harrogate but I'm sure we could sort some way of getting it down to you.
email me on jc@anodeelectronics.co.uk if you want pics and details.

cheers

john

Email sent, thanks

do you come over to west wales occasionally? i have a reasonable standard boxeye but it's developed a stutt-tt-er when i give it some gas. off to scotland for the next coupla weeks but i'll be trying to sort it when i come back. 25000 on the clock.

Wales not out of the question for location but looking to get one with no issues and a little lower on miles if possible, but thanks anyway and good luck.

I'd personally pay a tad more for one that is immaculate.

Hi, if its a Foxeye then "may" be able to do a little more, could you send me some details? I think my budget would get a pretty immaculate Boxeye but have had three of them and could be the right time to move up

Thanks

For Sale & Wanted / Wanted - Fazer 600 (again!) - Now sorted.
« on: 08 August 2013, 07:45:38 pm »
Okay, so recently sold my lovely mint Boxeye to pay a vets bill, in the short term I dabbled with a cheap super moto thingy which whilst great fun on the back roads wasn't really up to any long trips...so that's now sold and I am looking for my next bike, preferably a Fazer. I am a bit fussy as it will only be a sunny sunday toy, so am looking for:

600
Late Boxeye or early foxeye
Low miles, under 20k
No rust / corrosion
No broken plastics
MOT
Some recent service history would be nice
Excellent condition
HPI clear

I am based in Devon but can travel within the South West within reason, I am actively looking so may not be bikeless for long so if you do have or know of anything suitable message me ASAP, I will check in regularly and update this post if sorted.

Budget is up to @£1700 (no higher)

Thanks in advance

Yup, lots of quality bits, but the looks put me off (and thats from a man that owned a buell ulysess!)

Probably why it was cheap!

But like some other things can't see it when riding  :D

I think it comes with lots of jazzy stuff as standard, KTM plastics,  yammy 660 engine , good suspension, renthals and looks only a mother could love  :)

A large vets bill has led to the reluctant sale of my mint FZS600, got near to the full asking price and with the cash left over after paying the bill have ended up with an MZ Mastiff 660 supermoto thingy!

Fugly to look at but I quite like it, and should be great for the back roads of Devon.

Have had 3 x Fazers so far and in a perfect world would have one plus the Mastiff, who knows...maybe later

Anyhows just wanted to say thanks to all the people on this forum, whenever I have had a question it rec'd lots of helpful replies and hopefully I have also helped others a bit when able.

Pretty sure I'll be back again sometime in the future when finances allow

Now off to scare some of the yokels!

I would second BLD, used them to collect a bike from Chester to Devon, not the cheapest at @£130 and you need to bear in mind they do collections etc when they have other jobs in the area so you cannot specify a day but their customer service and delivery team were excellent at keeping me informed throughout, their van was also covered and well set up for transporting bikes. Overall I highly recommend.

FZS600 Fazer / Re: HANDLE BAR RISERS
« on: 22 June 2013, 01:51:33 pm »
Hi, I recently tried the below, they fitted easily on my 2001 fzs600 but I don't think the cables would allow any higher ones as it was a tight fit, i have to say they didn't make much difference and I have now taken them off,I think for a bad back it would be probably better to have some up and back risers which are more expensive and may need some altering of cables?

I check mine before every ride (saying that I only go out when the weathers nice!), I had two new tyres fitted this year and usually find the front is down a couple of PSI whilst the rear is always the same, not sure why this is? - I have a good foot pump with a fitted gauge in the garage so its easy to do
