Apart from your Fazer, what else do you have in your garage???
I have a 2006 Honda CBR600F...

And I've got a 1980 Honda CB250N which I have spent FAR too long refurbishing. Bought it as a tatty wreck and now it
looks pretty much like the one I bought brand new in August 1980. Note the period Kangol helmet  :lol

The refurb-blog is here...

Hi Ian and welcome. I also have a SuperDream (sssshhhhhh!)  :eek

I bought an old knacker and decided to refurb it - something to do on those dark winter nights. Nearly finished fettling it and then I'll be selling it probably because although they bring back fond memories, they're pretty damned useless  :lol

Good luck with your new 600.

And why not dump that nasty Vista and move to Win7 while you're at it?

It's fairly straight forward, but can i suggest that you consider a portable USB Hard Drive to store your photos and such?  MUCH more practical and easy to move around (literally).

If I were you, I'd be VERY happy that Yam have made such a generous contribution.

I had a 13 MONTH old Renault and the engine blew for NO obvious reason. Renault would pay absolutely nothing even though it was just one month out of warranty and had only 6 thou on the clock.

Try to barter a little with the dealer and then stump up the balance. (My humble opinion).

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: fork rebuild
« on: 13 June 2012, 12:38:51 pm »
....... the forks are an arse to work on.

Ah well, if that's the case, might be a good idea to use them. I've not worked on R1 forks, so I got a little ahead of myself there  :rolleyes

Is it not a bit expensive for what is effectively a pair of seals and new oil??

If you wanted uprated springs, valves, and anodizing like Cable-Tie, then you might wanna farm the job out, but if it's just seals and oil, you could do it yourself  for next to nothing. Just my opinion  :o

I contacted the seller asking if he had any customer-testimonials because a few of us might be interested in these, but he just gave a rather pathetic answer and an even more pathetic guarantee....

Dear maddogmcq, We have sold many of these, you can check our feedback for customer comments. If you are at all unhappy we do offer refunds for UNUSED items within 14 days.

Needless to say, customer comments on eBay are the usual "Arrived quickly thanks" type remarks.

General / Re: Tyre pressure monitors......How safe are they ?
« on: 11 June 2012, 09:38:01 pm »
Agree with GhostBiker. I've used them for a long time but don't rely on them 100%.  In fact, just being there often reminds me to check the pressures. (And up to now, they've always been +/- 1lb).

« on: 10 June 2012, 08:05:41 pm »
You can get some reflective tape which IS black. I have a small amount here - how much are you looking for?

It's available on eBay. It lights up "silver/white" so may not be appropriate as a rear-facing reflector.

ZZZZzzzzzzzzz  :z

Hate politics on a bike forum.

This is not just a bike forum, this is a FOC-U forum...

anything and everything gets covered, its what makes it great (IMHO)  ;)

Great men don't repeat themselves.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: What changed in 2004/5 Fazer Thou's?
« on: 10 June 2012, 09:42:03 am »
Just found this...

In 2001 FZS1000 Fazer launched: R1 engine
and brakes, basic but capable chassis. The first Fazer 1000 was a massive hit. 143bhp at the crank – typical bikes dyno 122bhp at the rear wheel.
In 2003 it becomes available with a black engine (designation FZS1000S) and gets an updated instrument panel.
In 2004 the model code changes from 5LV to 1C2 but there are no significant technical changes.
In 2005 black frame, ECU and catalytic converter changes to cope with the latest emission regs.

Opinions please on the claims made in this auction that the exup valve can be removed altogether (without a subsequent dip in midrange and/or a flatspot).

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Its a sad day ! WHO WANTS TO BUY THIS !
« on: 09 June 2012, 05:45:59 pm »
Had I not just bought one, I would have GLADLY given you £3900 for that. ALL DAY LONG!

But take heed of all the advice already given. Friends of mine recently witnessed a young lad die on his bike and they said at the time that it was so distressing, they would be giving up riding forever, but of course these feelings pass. Just keep hold of it for a while and make your decision when your mate's recovered.

Very best wishes to your friend.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: 5LV or not 5LV that is the qn???
« on: 09 June 2012, 05:40:10 pm »
You gotta bear in mind that many bikes (and cars, etc) are from a particular manufacturing year, but sit in a showroom for an extended time and are registered in a different year. My 2005 FZS1000 is on an 07 plate. It's still an 05 model though.
