Rear undertray and mudguard are a one piece moulding, so the 2nd hand one you have been offered without the mudguard is either cut OEM or aftermarket

In two minds about this weekend, weather for Sunday (BBC website) looks wet plus I've just bought a 2000 R1 front end with Billet top yoke and modded R1 bottom yoke so was planning on fitting that this weekend.
Going to keep an eye on the weather and make a decision nearer the weekend.

Went to Ilford to pick up some pannier liners for my Givi E41 panniers, forgot how wide they make the bike and tagged a couple of mirrors when filtering on A12.
Tomorrow pick up a set of 2001 R1 forks with modified Fazer lower yoke and CNC top yoke.

Bought pair of 2nd hand mirrors for £25 to replace the one that popped its pivot yesterday before my run to the Ace Cafe, got two fairing infills from the same chap with intact brackets and no splits, for an extra £25, result.

Got one on mine, does improve low down response and starting, thinking about doing a couple of dyno runs to see the actual results.
Need to find a decent Dyno shop in Essex or East London to get the runs done.

Done both, each has pros and cons, but the more people the more frustrated i seem to get as each person wants to do things differently stop at different times, go at different speeds, will/wont use motorways, etc etc.
As for planning, going on my own down through France, Italy to Malta then back through Italy, Austria, Germany, but as I'm going peak time, last week July first week August, I'm booking most of my hotels. If I was going at other times I'd probably not book and trust to luck.
One Last comment, just fu*"ing do it you wont regret doing it either way but if on your own take lots of photos to piss your mates off when you get home

If you want to learn how to maintain your bike I'm sure there are local (or not so local) Foccers who, for the price of a cup of tea, biscuits and/or bacon rolls
, would be willing to show you how its' done and have the correct tools to do the job.
is this not the reason we belong to such clubs for the info and help that people can provide and take the piss out of Christo obviously
There are other options such as the Oval Motorcycle centre (http://www.ovalmotorcyclecentre.co.uk/) that rent benches and tools by the hour and there are qualified mechanics on hand that can help. Maybe there is something similar nearer to you?
