I've been looking about to see what it's replacement could be and to be fair I'm struggling to find anything so might pull the advert.

£7750 (in case you can't open up the link). This really is a great all round bike that makes all the right noises with all the right bits on it.

Nice looking bike, you must be well happy with your new purchase  8)

The 10 is without a doubt an awesome bike but you know what it's like when you fancy a change of bike.

Yes, if you change your bike, a photo of it might fit on the page  :lol

Ha ha, I've deleted them now as it does my nut in having to scroll across.

recently looking at the FZ1000S purely for the fact they have a better fuel range.

As understand it the FZ1 has worse mpg than the FZS... see fuelly thread - http://www.fuelly.com/motorcycle/yamaha/fz1 - average is 43mpg. The Z100SX I rode showed 51mpg for the test ride and the fuelly thread for that bike show average of 47mpg - http://www.fuelly.com/motorcycle/kawasaki/z1000sx

Whoops. I should have put the FZS and not the FZ1  :rollin

That is what attracts me to the FZS. My old FZ1S would get a rough or average minimum/maximum between 85 to 150 to a tank. The MT09 Tracer would do near on 180/200 to a tank and that was mostly kicking it's head in. The best I've got for the MT10 was 140. The fuel gauges on the both the MT09/10 are a joke and more like switches than proper gauges.

The 10 is without a doubt an awesome bike but you know what it's like when you fancy a change of bike.

Your opinion is quite interesting as the Z1000SX has been on my radar for a while but the service intervals are quite low and always put me off. I sold my last FZ1S for an MT09 Tracer that I owned for about 8 months and I've had an MT10 for the past year and a bit, but looking to change to something else now.

I've been looking at either a red or black FZ1S and recently looking at the FZ1000S purely for the fact they have a better fuel range. The MT10 is pants on a good day but the sound of the cross plane engine with decat and Scorpion makes up for any short comings.

We've recently gone from an SLK to a CLK sport. It's a good car and having the extra 2 rear seats is something that was missed.

I found the Saabs had too much scuttle shake and you could feel it flexing on some cambers on the road. Didn't the Audi 2.0t lumps have problems through the whole range? I know oil consumption on them can be a joke with how much they use - while Audi claim it's within it's guidelines. Something stupid like a litre every 1/2k miles  :eek

If it were me I'd be looking at the older SLK's - 6 pot, MX5 - mark 1 or a Z3. You'll be able to watch the values increase while you own it.

The Fazer I quite liked was no longer available.

Bit the bullet and bought a 10 and I get it next week.

Cheers Dazza, sounds like it's not built to the same standards as the 9. I ran an 08 plate FZ1S over 2 winters and it was fine compared to the 9 over 1 winter and both bikes were washed the same amount of times in my usual way with the same stuff.

How do you rate your 10 overall. I'm tempted to get a used one. They seem to be starting from £8.5k for the non fluo colours while a decent late'ish Fazer from 10 plates are less than half that amount.

How are your bikes holding up for age related wear and tear?

I'm debating to go back to an FZ1S or to get a 16 plate 10. After seeing how my Tracer 900 has taken to the UK weather/roads with a fair bit of corrosion, rusty bolts, etc, I thought I'd see how yours were doing.

Sensibly priced bike.
I sold my 08 last year and bought an MT09 Tracer. One thing I find with the MT is it's more of a struggle to get my leg over it than what it was on the FZ1. I also find the top end rush just doesn't happen on the MT. If you were closer I'd probably entertain this.

That should fly out the door at that price. I sold an 08 that had done 25k miles for £3.5k. I put it on autotrader as they seem to make a bit more money on there compared to ebay, gumtree, etc.

I had a go on an MT09 a while back and quite liked it apart from a few things. The snatchy throttle, the fuel range and as it was a fairly hot day I couldn't really gauge the wind blast. I've got my FZ1 up for sale and seriously thinking of pulling the ad as I'm really struggling to see what can replace it. Mine is an approx £3.5k bike that does things quite well.

The next possible potential bike will be at least £1k more or the Tracer even more. The tracer is more appealing to me for a few reasons. What keeps going through mind is what can they do much better than the FZ1? I'm not a knee down rider but like to make progress but the fuel range on the FZ1 can get annoying when the light starts flashing from anywhere between 75/120 miles. The most I've ever been was 160miles with not much left in the tank.

I liked the MT10 when I took one out last year but to me it wasn't really a "Take my wallet" coupled with the fact dealers pissed me off with long, needless waiting times trying to make the bike more exclusive than what I thought it was.

Got my eye on another bike and only got a short time to sell this. If the other one sells, I'll pull this advert. I think it's a good price ... :-)

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Tyre query on an FZ1
« on: 13 August 2016, 04:08:18 pm »
I bought this one last year on 15k miles and it's now done just over 22k. When I bought it, it had Bridgestone BT16's - skittish in the wet and cold but awesome in the dry. I changed the tyres in March at 18k to PR4's as the 16's were nearly shot and noticed that - although I hate the words "chicken strip" - that they're no where near the edge unlike the BT 16's. Nor how they were on my last bike, a Sprint 1050.

Just wondered if anyone else has found the hype to them unfounded. I'm thinking of ditching them for Bridgestone. Is it the S or T 20's? These just feel a bit too pointy for my liking. I'm not a knee down person but nor do I ride it upright all the time and i like my twisty roads as opposed to cr4p motorways.

Edited to add the edges show about 1.5/2cm.

General / Re: Which of These Two Bikes Will Be The More Reliable
« on: 17 July 2016, 08:37:21 am »
Out of those 2 I'd go for the first one. I like Triumphs but not the cost of the big service. The 1050 is without a doubt a sweet lump. The 1250 is nice and torquey and parts are cheap enough. The place in the 1st link I've been to a few times and they add an admin fee on top for some reason and they're not the cheapest but most of there stuff is decent and presented well.

Any reason in particular you're looking at bikes from dealers as I'm sure you'd find cheaper like for like on gumtree, autotrader and ebay.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: 06 gen2
« on: 01 July 2016, 07:07:53 am »
The only thing I'd say is a bit pants is the fuel range. I could do 180/200 on the Sprint. The most I've ever had on this Gen 2 was 150. The least? I can quite easily do 75 then the light comes on. 4 litres left? Although out on steady runs it's roughly 120.

I'm sure the Gen 1 is a lot better. At some stage if a sorted Gen 1 at a good price comes along I might get one and then decide what happens to this one.
