Heard the Ferodos on ebay for £100 each are good. Reputable brand anyway.

Mine has been doing the same, should be just condensation unless both of ours are on their way out!

Just get a good one second hand, ebay is your friend in this scenario. I picked one up with perfect bearings for £30 odd a few years ago

Thanks chaps, I have just bought replacement bulbs. Will replace both with hopefully brighter ones to help me in this awful weather. Good to know it's just a matter of removing the tool bag  :)

FZS600 Fazer / tail / brake light
« on: 14 October 2014, 07:26:13 pm »
Bit of a silly question but am not with my bike so cannot check. I understand there are two bulbs in the rear light unit. One bulb works normally, however the other does not illuminate *unless* I'm braking. Ie it's not working as a tail light bulb, only as a brake light bulb. Those bulbs seem a bugger to access - just a case of changing the bulb or is there a loose connection? I need the bike for a 100mile comute everyday so advice appreciated!

Haha, yes key to it is hanging off as much as possible like a monkey (whether you get your knee down or not), otherwise the Fazer will start grinding. I'm also only 10 stone so have to hang off more than somebody heavier for the same effect. Knee down looks cool but it's not essential, I however find it helps me gauge how much lean angle I've got left before grinding the pegs.

And yep, shorts legs know no bounds  :b

So they don't require you to tape up the headlights at trackdays anymore??

Doesn't seem it, maybe you only have to if your headlight's got glass lenses

Ace that, doesn't look much clearance left at all. Bet your tyres have wear all the way across after that?

All the way to the edge of the tyre, on the front and rear. PR3s are very good for a sports touring set

Those of you who've met me will know that I'm barely 5'6''.... I always have to get my leathers special order and have a lowered seat  :lol

You'll love it HarryHornby, Brands Hatch is such a nice track, enjoy.

Yes, standard pegs.... believe me, the pegs did go down quite often! The rear ride height is slightly higher than standard though, courtesy of Kebab's R6 shock conversion and it's accompanying shorter dogbones  :)

Last time I checked in here, there was a mass genocide of 600s... (yep, that month 3 or 4 Fazers crashed) Hope all has been well since  :b

Have not been on the forum for ages - have had no reason to as my little Fazer has been running like clockwork and after years of tinkering I'm now happy with how it's set-up (plus busy life gets in the way).

Had an awesome day at Brands Hatch recently and wanted to share a cool photo with you guys (I think it is anyway). Held it's own in the intermediate group and plenty of red faced sportsbike riders  :lol

Looks great this, what the Fazer should have had from the factory. Am tempted

FZS600 Fazer / Steering lock.... you learn something new everyday
« on: 30 April 2014, 04:08:38 pm »
After 4 years ownership, the other day I discovered that the steering lock also works when the bars are turned to the right.... thought I knew the bike inside out, clearly not!

Don't think my other bikes had this feature....or maybe I've just been a bit slow  :\

FZS600 Fazer / Re: sidestand play
« on: 30 March 2014, 08:48:53 pm »
Nope, that's it. The play is normal but gets worse with wear. I replaced my stand with a low mileage one and that improved it. I also tried some thin washers but even the thinnest prevented the side stand for moving.

I've always had Shoeis until I bought a Arai Quantum. It is indeed comfortable but my next lid will be a Shoei again. The Shoei is better designed imo and one thing that still pisses me off is how inferior the Arai visors are in the rain in comparison.

Latest model for 2014 called the Shoei NXR has just been released, replaces the Xr1100

That's a hotspot, it happens there all the foccing time. The number of times that must have happened on my commute through there. Glad there was no contact!

PS. At least you didn't get blanked by Warwick Davis again lol  :lol

General / Re: Fairing for fz6
« on: 20 March 2014, 01:16:45 am »
I don't know much about FZ6s but know that the updated FZ6 S2 had a different fairing. A retrofit has been done before but I think it's quite hard work and expensive unless you can find the fairing and parts cheap.

slither of info here:

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Broken Chain
« on: 20 March 2014, 12:51:05 am »
I've had 2 DID heavy duty chains and they have both developed multiple o-ring failures well before the rest of the chain has worn out. The first one was replaced by DID, and the replacement has recently developed the same issue. Carefully used different cleaners, products on both chains but same problem. My mechanic also had the same problem on his Fireblade.

Just a heads up. I might have been unlucky and the failures are not catastrophic but I would go with something else if you can.

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Rear hugger...
« on: 20 March 2014, 12:43:17 am »
I believe the box eye and fox eye swingarms have the holes for mounting a hugger in different locations.

There shouldn't be no holes at all on your hugger though - in that case I suppose you must drill them yourself.

I'm pretty sure the undertrays are the same.
