I don't think you're going to change BBB's mind anytime soon.

It only seems to be with event tickets. I don't mind a booking fee or anything like that (people need to get paid), I just feel it should be included in the advertised cost. So if a £15 ticket has £5 booking just advertise the darned thing at £20. It seems like a backward way of doing things, and quite possibly just a ploy to make things seem cheaper than they were.

"Oh hey, do you wanna go here? It's only a tenner a ticket?"
"Yeah!" *get's the kids all excited or something
"Oh, we can't afford it actually because they didn't tell us the true cost was £15 a ticket"

Not on. Get paid by all means, just sort out how you get paid.

I saw some sort of dark blue Fazer thou in the camping site. Not sure what model, possibly Foxeye, perhaps something even newer? Was a little drunk.

Ace that, doesn't look much clearance left at all. Bet your tyres have wear all the way across after that?

You can still buy online I believe, and you can definitely buy on the gate.

Brother whizzing up the M1 from Rugby, he should be home for 5 meaning we should be up at Knockhill by 9 at the latest. Buzzing!

Stationery vehicle for hazard lights. So how come Renault got away with making my hazards come on automatically when I slam the anchors on (really got to slam them on) in my Scenic? I don't buy that you should only use them stationary, and yes, I think it's a good idea to use when filtering past stationary traffic. Not so good for filtering past anything going faster than a crawl though (I class undertaking slow outside lane hogs on a motorway as filtering too, I wouldn't use hazards here).

I'll be at Knochill this weekend, can't wait. You'll probably find me and the lads sat at Clarke's all weekend. We like it there.

« on: 24 June 2014, 09:25:34 am »
Not a thou, but I bonded straight away. Which is crazy as the more I look at the bike the more I realise I was palmed off a bit with it. I've had to do various things myself, spending quite a lot of money on it, and that has probably held me close to the bike.

As a matter of fact, I pulled up at work this morning and headed to the door. I turned back and there it sat. I'm sure if it could it would have winked at me. And in that moment, I couldn't picture myself riding any other bike.

I bought a project off eBay - it was sold as 'working but needs a new starter motor'. Well, anyway, I got the starter motor working after a decent clean out and new seals. But I'm thankful I had always planned to strip the bike down and put it back together piece by piece (after painting etc). Last night I stripped the frame down to its bare bones, and I'm so glad I bought it and not someone who would have jumped on and rode the thing. There was barely a tight nut on the whole bike (and those that were only were due to rust), and the amount of incorrect nuts/bolts/screws - I'd take something off held on with 2 bolts and one would be a 10mm and the other a 12mm, or one would be a 14mm and the other would be a philips head. Not the worst thing in the world, but just stinks of DIY bodgit.

Anyway, frame stripped - time to grind the tabs off and have it painted.

Cheers mate. Still a long long way off - just trying to get the seat design down now before I start pulling tabs off (as known my luck I'll pull one which I needed).

Cheers mate, very helpful that. Thanks for the offer of the seat too, but I think I've decided (for now) what to do.

I think this one will be easy to do on my frame, and I really like the way it looks. A bit of alloy sheeting, a bit foam, and leather and job done. Any ideas on the best way to detab the frame (and get rid of that mount the rear mudguard attaches to)? I was thinking angle grinder as close as possible without marking the frame, then some good old hard graft with a file? What did you do?

So have you got a custom seat yet? Any chance I could see?

I'm not fussed about the mud guard anyway, it's going the journey.

« on: 19 June 2014, 03:12:25 pm »

Posted in general as not a Fazer, but could use some of your technical expertise.

I've got a KZ440 (G1 I believe). Anyway, the frame is the same shape as this image below.

I'm trying to work out how to design the seat for a brat style bike. I quite like these bikes and seat styles but can't see how I can make it fit with my frame.

I am 6'4 so I don't mind the seat being stepped up a bit (more area to house battery, better riding position for me) but only if it fits with the overall look of the bike.

I'm just after some advice from you guys on what you think, and how I might be able to achieve it.

EDIT: I must add I'm not willing to cut the frame, except to detab it - I don't want to modify the frame for a seat to fit, I want to use the frame as it is now.

Thanks in anticipation.

EDIT 2: This one looks similar to my frame.

Sorry for your loss.

We've been to a few funerals recently, which gets you talking about your own. I'm adamant mine isn't going to be as glum as the wife's grandad's funeral. I told her there and then, while everybody was sat slurping a pint looking like the sky was going to fall in, that mine had better have some punk music playing in the church, and there had better be a band playing at the wake. Anybody looking glum gets thrown out.

You got any photos punk?

Of anything in particular?

Just of your life on a boat in general. I love narrow boats, just anything you can post to give us a feel of what it's like living there.

It would be cheaper and easier to buy a new Ka than clean that up. What's a Ka cost now, £50?

I just bought this:

Haven't fitted it yet, but looks the job. Planning to fit under seat although cable should be long enough to go to bars should I change my mind.

Well yeah, GPS works on satellites, the unit won't be able to pick up those satellites if covered by a house. It be the same with a Tom Tom or Jim Jim or whatever.

Does it only show live data? So if you text and somebody has it stored in a lock-up or something it will it show the the middle of the ocean again? Or would it show you the last place it was before it lost the signal? (The latter would be better as it would still lead you to the lock-up etc).

Always forget where you put down that one tool you had in your hands only 5 seconds ago...

To then discover it's right in front of you - can't see the wood for the trees or something like that

I went to see him and Ade do Bottom live, it was ace.

When I tried to remember though, I'd have placed the year about 2002, but apparently he had a quad bike accident that left him injured in 1998? Is this right? I'm sure it wouldn't have been any earlier than 2000 at least when I went to see him.

Here's my bike from a weekend away just gone. Think I used 2 webbing thingy's, and about 6 or 7 bungees. If I'd had more I would have used them too.
