Likewise, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.  You get used to it there after a while and it looks a bit quiryek, so it's ok there by me. :)

Horses for courses.
I loved my 6 Foxeye, one of the best bikes I ever owned. I've had 2 Gen 1 Fazer thou's which were also fantastic. Fancied a change and test rode loads of different bikes, but in the end I came back to Yamaha Fazer, this time the Fazer8, and at my age and condition it just is the best for me. Easy to handle, plenty of power, and very comfortable. Of course there are one or two tweets which I would like to have resolved, it's a tiny bit too revvy and the rear sus is not proprly adjustable (tho it is on never models). Despite this, I love it and it does everything I want it to do. Put a Mivv can on which sounds great and got rid of all the yamaha stickers, fitted rack and top box for touring, just waiting for this glorious summer we are going to have. Taking it to South Devon Coast at end of the month and can't wait.  :D

Hi
Sorry you've been given such a crap price. Not surprising if you are selling to a dealr though.
I might be interested in the radiator protector depending on condition/make/price. Don't need anything else thanks  :)

You'll be back.  I changed from a gen 1 thou to a F800ST, nice bikes but just too bland for me. They do everything extreemly well, but just got no soul.

Back on a Fazer 8 now, love it.  Enjoy the beemer, but see you back on a Fazer soon  :lol

Not had a bad year apart from hitting that damned pheasant 2 weeks ago. Got bike repaired and went to Dartmoor last weekend. Came back filthy, 3 hour clean now nicely tucked up in garage waiting DRY day for rideout before the year is out!
Dartmoor in background, Stonkingly good Fazer 8 in foreground !!!! :lol

I took my Fazer 8 away for the weekend last weekend. Forecast was for absolutely crap weather round Dartmoor which is where I stayed. Turned out to be ok with last Sat being a brilliant day. Did 450 miles over the weekend and had a great time.  Looks crap at the moment tho, and clocks change tonight, so even less chance of getting a long ride in. Oh well, maybe next weekend.  :rolleyes

had five of them fly into me from roadside halfway round a big righthander, ended up with broken pelvis that time :( :(

Blimey, I got off lightly then !  Hope you are fully fixed up now ;)

I have the Yam one, weight limit is quite low but then I keep my gold bullion in my waist band. Its fine at speed and great for going away.  Use throw overs rather than hard side panniers, but I must admit I would like a set of hard side panniers, just too expensive for me.

« on: 13 October 2013, 01:30:34 pm »
So there I am, cruising along on my Fazer8 on a nice B road, minding my own business, when a suicidal pheasant flies up from the very grassy and overgrown verge, straight in front of me. No chance to do anything except hold on tight and watch as it smashes into the fairing then over my head.  A fraction of a second either way and it would have failed in its attempt to kill itself, and no, I did not stop to pick it up and eat it as road kill.
Pity really, cos I could have put it down as the most expensive meal I have ever had, £850 damage!

Need a new fairing, headlamp, and wing-mirror, thanks very much. Maybe we should start a campaign to have a pheasant cull, or better still, make the farmers lock them all up. I had heard of this happening before but never expectd it would happen to me, I thought the odds were too long. Just shows you, still, could have been worse, had it hit my head I would have been off the bike and who knows what would have happened.

Ride safe peeps and watch out for depressed pheasants. :)

My rule is simple.
20 30 and 40 are gospel.
50 and national are up to you.
BUT
Any time you break it you risk points

Thats plus 1 for me. Except in a 50 I would be pretty close to the limit, but in the National speed limit I ride as fast as I feel like according to the conditions. :)

Definately like the colour.

Akros are very good, had one on my beemer 800st.  Got a Mivv on the Fazer 8, looks really good and sounds great. Better than the Akro on the beemer, but don't know what the Akro sounds like on the 8. Definately like the Mivv though, very pleased with it. If you get a chance have a look.  :)

Got a Mivv on my Fazer 8, sounds greeeaaattt. Tried it with the baffle out, way too noisey, but really nice with the baffle in. Loud, but not so that it would be too annoying  :) .

Yep, 160 - 170 miles does seem a lot. I try to fill up at around the 130 to 140 mark  so I guess it could do more. Just not had the nerve to try it even tho there is a reserve. Range is ok IMHO.  :)

I go to Wales every year or so and have been for the last ten years. mainly Brecon area for a long weekend with a few mates. Have to say, by far the marority of the time weather has been between pretty good to excellent. Only once has it rained over a whole weekend.
Great area, I love it.
Nice pics. :)

Thanks Tork.  I know a guy locally who can make one up for me, but I wanted to keep the original as well, so I will just keep my eyes open and see if one comes up on fleaby. No rush. I can always give myself some more padding by eating more doughnuts  :)

Thanks for the offer, it's a bit far for me. I'll have a look next time I am near a main dealer, I'm not in a hurry, just something I am considering.  :)

Did I read somewhere that the seat for the FZ1 is the same as the Fazer8. Just wondered as it might be easier to get a second hand replacement and get it made to suit me. I was ok with the standard Fazer 8 seat but have lately found it a bit hard. I have a gel pad but it spoils the look I think, and I want to keep a standard seat for when I sell it.
