Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: 2006 0n R6 throttle tube
« on: 09 March 2019, 09:21:45 pm »
on a triumph street triple a known mod for quicker action throttle is a speed triple throttle tube...... but an alternate almost free mod is to cut a 5mm wide slither of plastic waste pipe.... cut that to make a C shape,  which you heat with hot air gun to shrink fit around throttle tube, effectively increasing its circumference and hence making throttle action quicker.....

if this method works on a cable throttle street triple, i don't see any reason why it wouldn't work on a fazer thou.....

just a thought

for her 15th birthday, i thought i would give the old fazer a deep clean....... drained coolant and removed radiator..... removed exhaust and gave front of engine its first proper clean in 15 years....... must say its come up remarkably well...... will post some pictures when i work out how to get them off my phone...... btw the jubilee clips attaching pipes to the oil cooler have rubber sleeves around them........ anyone know the significance of these rubber bands....... mr yamaha must have put them on there for a reason, but i don't know why

General / bike accident bit of advice please
« on: 01 September 2018, 12:28:37 pm »
ok guys/gals.... long story short ..... 22 august knocked off my new 790 duke...... first bike accident in 40 years !!!!!...... other party has accepted liability..... gutted... bike badly damaged but will be repaired...... that side of the claim seems pretty straightforward in that third party's insurer will pay for repairs..

but i have a broken ankle ....... bennetts my bike insurance company have directed me to minster law ( no win no fee ) malarky who are handling the injury side of things..

although they are "no win no fee" .... they charge a success fee of up to 25%...... research shows all these firms charge similar fees, so i suppose one firm not much better than another in this respect.....

Question is..... do i really need to use one of these no win no fee firms......i have always been anti these companies in the past..... can i just not submit my expenses to third party's insurance company.... there must be a standard "broken ankle " payment plus loss of earnings that i can easily supply and prove

i'm gonna be on crutches 6 weeks minimum , no load bearing on my broken ankle.....major upheaval really, but i suppose it could have been much worse....

Any advice from anyone legally minded/ or been through similar appreciated

thanks

dave

hi mike...... you ivanised my bike at drillers place back in 2004 or maybe 2005 i think....... iv'e still got the old skunk..... can never part with it although its getting a bit heavy and cumbersome for my 59 year old 5 ft 5 frame.......old driller was a bit of a character...he had some kind of special deal with george whites in swindon and got hold of all the latest bikes of the time..... i still remember the big grin i had riding the fazer back to essex from swindon avoiding the motorways....

happy days

have you got a current link to the 15 pound ebay one, cos i can't find it.....

cheers

Some eBay UK red LED gear indicators are now only £1.50, and some blue gear indicators are only £2.70, both including post and packing.

those use a magnet on shift lever to work..... i was looking for one that computed gear via speedo and tacho pulses

the bare wire goes to one side of black push button  and the other side of button goes to 12v

its all on christians multiguage website....... the 3rd button switches 12v onto the outside temperature sensor wire via a resistor and a diode that are soldered onto that wire...... i think i already did this on the  guage i sold you ..... the cct diagram for this is somewhere on christians website...

cheers

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Poor tickover/ popping in exhaust .
« on: 29 May 2017, 08:37:28 pm »
very similar to my problem.... i've done loads of research and most probable culprit is a blocked pilot jet and or perished
float needle o rings....i'm gonna run a tank of fuel mixed with redline carb cleaner...... if that don't fix it, it's a carb off job to clean pilot jets and replace o rings

mine runs like a dog from tickover to 3k rpm  but above 3k its perfect

Got a street triple now. A bit lighter as I'm getting older. Don't want to sell the Fazer. Bought it new at same time as tmation from same place in Southend. Decided to drain petrol from carbs and empty tank. Put it in back of garage for now
