i have just replaced my standard downpipes for s/s ones and end can for a scorpion :D
whilst having a brew afterwards, i realised that i ought to check the tightness of the downpipe bolts on the engine after it has been running for a bit.
what would you do ?
go for a quick ride (10-15 mins) then let it cool down and check ?

p.s. if you have done this yourself how did you get at the 1st bolt for the 2nd cylinder on the right if looking from the front ?
was a right sod to get at!

was expecting a few more "i'll have a flake in mine please" type comments  :lol
i'd really prefer to use something i can put on the bike rather than a rucksack as i'll probably have to have a rucksack on as well to carry mutes / music / stand / etc....
most of the things i have seen would only hold my cornet if it were stood up on end (think small suitcase or thicker briefcase) and whilst notoverly heavy, it would be quite annoying to have it banging into my back if i had to brake hard.
it might end up that i'll have to use a large rucksack, but i'll hold that in reserve until all other options are exhausted :)
any further suggestions would be appreciated :)

as i play in a brass band, i'd love to be able to go to rehearsal on my bike (fortunately i play the cornet not bass!)
does anyone know of a tail pack or similar that would hold my cornet ?
needs to be 400x350x170mm minimum.
i'm tempted by the hard luggage (givi, etc.) but i can't justify the expense.
any help would be appreciated :)

i use ear plugs all the time (thanks for the suggestion though :D)
fairly sure it's not my lid (Nolan N104) as i had the same problem with my old one.
would really like to get it sorted as it gives me a headache after a while.

i am getting a lot (and i mean lots) of wind noise at anything above 40mph
at the moment it looks like i have a "double bubble" type screen fitted.
if i were to replace this with a flip up type, would that help ?

got it off...... eventually.
got the bike nice and warm and sprayed (carefully) some cold water on theplug for 10 mins or so, then cracked and loosened the nut.
looks like the bloke who had the bike before me was hanging off the spanner he used to tighten it!
muppet !
found a good use for the waste oil also !
my grandad wanted it to keep his garden tools in (spade, fork, etc.) to stop them going rusty!
takes all sorts ! :D

it seems to hold the bike back a bit (or at least that's the impression i get. maybe just a mental thing)
anyway, it's really only at low revs (say sub 5k) that i need it to be quiet :)

i'm thinking of getting an endcan for my bike (2001 fzs600) as soon as i can afford to replace the oem downpipes with stainless ones.
really needs to be a bit quiet, especially at low revs (mainly for where i live and the times i need to leave for work).
any suggestions ?

ideally i'd like it to be dark coloured (as my bike is black) but thats not essential.

having looked at the top yoke, it looks like the screws / nuts are all the way in (can see hardly any thread)
i'll give the cable tie trick a go (great idea btw!) and see what the travel is.

feels rock hard and makes my arms really tired after a while.
never adjusted suspension before (except rear) so not sure if it's possible

for anyone with an astronomical interest, the last transit of venus across the sun for our lifetime (unless someone manages to figure out how to make us live a lot longer!) will occur on wednesday morning
this is the last transit until 2117!
unfortunately the transit starts before sunrise here in the uk so we will (weather permitting) only get to see about the last 40 mins of it.
if you do go out for a look, please be careful !
looking directly at the sun can cause instant blindness !

done an engine change on a combine harvester before with pallets, pallet truck, scaffolding pole and lots of swearing so i'm sure i can make this work :)
