Hmmm, I'm not so sure. I wonder what kind of situations those studies were carried out in? If there were only a few cars around, I might be more inclined to believe it, but when there are millions of the things everywhere, I think they might have less effect. Same with hi-viz. It has to have something to stand out against. If everyone is wearing it, surely that effect is reduced?

Let’s remove lights from all road vehicles and see what happens.

One key thing of daylight running lights is that nobody can drive off at night without any lights whatsoever.

Removing all lights from road vehicles could possibly have a positive effect, people would drive slower and with more care.
There have been moves in the Netherlands and a few other places on a small scale, inlcuding the UK, to remove all road markings, signs and even traffic lights from areas creating a shared space, and the result was fewer accidents and less traffic stoppages as people were concentrating on actually driving rather than being distracted by all the road signs etc.

New cars being fitted with with LED main lights - they are so focing bright and "glarey", compared to normal bulbs theres even that advert with the car making the fox squint - like its a feature that sels the car to nobheads cause it makes everyone squint

Don't get me started, and it means that said knob heads forget to turn there actual lights on in the dark.

Never mind lights, these automatic braking  / collision avoidance systems that some new cars have, the knob heads think they don' t even have to brake or look where their going.

Does it rev cleanly up to the redline when in neutral?  If not try these first.
Check air filter is clean, if not change it.
Check petrol filter is clean, if not change it.
Clean and regap the spark plugs,  these might need replacing also.
If you are capable clean the carburetors.
Also check all the HT leads and spark plug caps.

Going to work this morning I saw a car with a strip of very bright blue leds all the way along the front bumper and when the dickhead overtook me in a 30 zone I saw on his rear bumper two full length bumper strips of leds again, one strip was red and the other strip was green, but I was passing through that shithole Bradford at the time so its probably normal there.

Am I the only one who thinks that the increase in overweight people is linked  to a few things?

1. The drive to force people to quit smoking, they eat to replace the longing for nicotine.
2. The massive increase in takeaway outlets, there are streets in Leeds where it is just  rows of takeaways, and more appear every month.
3.Car ownership, no one walks anywhere no matter how short the journey.
4. Massive supermarkets selling every kind of sugary / fatty food available, strange how when they do a " bogof " it is never friut and veg.
5. The availability of cheap alcohol 24/7 , my local 24 hour garage even sells it.

As for overweight being an " illness " or genetic I would like to see some genuine proof from some reputable sources before I will believe that, I am overweight and I am not ill or bound by my genes, I am just a lazy greedy git.

Now there’s a thing that pisses me off.  All the folks who call themselves Engineers but are nothing of the sort.

Is that aimed at me?

The word " olympian"  when used as a prefix before a persons name because they have taken part in an Olympic games, don't know why but it just bugs the hell out of me.

Grumpy people is 'What Gets My Goat' :pokefun

Not grumpy but certain words bug me, like blogger, vlogger, activist etc. Seems like everybody these days needs a title before their names  to make them feel validated,  I don't put engineer before my name and I bet you don't put bricklayer before your name. What I do for a living does not make me who I am, my personality does.
Okay so I hold my hand up , I might be a bit grumpy sometimes :) , so I should have as my title grumpy engineer.

These low emission zones taxes are nothing to do with the environment but are a way to force the less well off financially onto public transport so that they have less freedom of movement and what movement they do have is controlled and monitored even more than it is now, then the roads are clearer for the " great and the good"  who are the ones making these proposals because they know it will not affect them.
I am not paranoid, well not much, just believe that we are being screwed good and proper.

Why aren't different sizes of clothing priced according to size? After all a small coat uses less material and must be slightly quicker to produce than a xxxl coat.
This could solve the "obesity problem" if the price difference made people think " I am not paying that price, foc it, I will lose a couple of stone and buy the cheaper size", :D

If you are keeping the bike a long time it is a worthwhile investment,  a small ( very! )  power increase is another benefit and to me that is about it.

A friend of mine told me about the plight of a poor African kid with severe disabilities who has to ride a completely dilapidated bike with only one pedal 6 miles each morning just to fetch water.
On his way home he falls off all the time because of the heavy load.
Anyway, I feel good because I sent my friend £5 and he sent me the video.

It was fucking hilarious.

Before splashing out on a new radiator I would flush the cooling system, it could be just clogged up with crap.

Ok, thanks for the feedback, will put some on chain today and see how it goes.

Take the bike for a spin first, it works best with a warm chain.

Good idea, but its pissing it down  and I am a commited fair weather rider.

I warned YamFazFan about waking VNA up from his hibernation! This is what happens when you do , he infests the forum like a virus and once started does not know when to shutup. Just like every pub has a pub bore he is the forum bore.

Please moderators can you make it a ruling that all political / religious debate is in separate threads and titled as such so that the subject is clear instead of them hijacking other threads.

Like most people I use this forum for motorcycle related subjects coupled with a bit a banter, and I have had enough of being preached at by political zealots.

Slappy, you won’t find a political thread started by VNA.

I agree with you it’s a bike forum, but I’m not minded to tolerate populist right wing political propaganda or bull shite, bigoted nonsense or racist crap.  And Christ almighty do we hear the bigots squeal when their views are challenged.

No you don't start them you just fill other threads up with your views because once you start you don't know when to shut up.
