I've seen orangey brown crystals form that block jets happened to my XT600 last year after a short while of been laid up over winter.

Is that definitely attributable to the ethanol contained in the fuel?.

Would that have happened in the past when petrol didn't contain a portion of ethanol?.

Can't directly say but varnish in green/orange/brown forms in any fuel systems but petrol defo goes off quicker nowadays since introduction of the stuff !

Ethanol is hygroscopic it absorbs water great when it's in fuel !

Simply put we really don't need ethanol we pay top money for fuel but they mix shit with it that probably costs less thus they make more £s nuff said 😡

Why not do the simple mod takes a few mins literally I done my one a few weeks ago it's better but I still need more light.
I'll try hid light but buy a car set off eBay much cheaper than one so called made for the bike Ive done other bikes &
it's a straight forward fit no wiring mods needed just find somewhere to put the ballast.

They don't need a dyno jet kit.
Been there, done that, had to change back to OEM for it to run right again.

Ok thanks I'll forget that then

On my bike I had carb problems blocked green/brown crust after cleaning them still not starting or firing ?
Found out O rings knakerd thus flooding tried a 2nd set that was on donor bike it ran but not brilliant but it ran,so I took them apart but not the best condition the screws only just came out of the float bowls ! so as my originals are clean I swapped the seats & O rings.

Bike started ran but died after warming up ? I realised too rich pilot screws set at OEM so two & three quarters of a turn out it runs ok now don't need choke to start either bike has a K & N filter.
I still get a slight hesitation around 2000rpm otherwise it pulls like a train I'm considering a dyno jet kit

I think issues are caused by the heat from welding process distorting the tubes so although they are jigged they spring back when taken out to cool off,I had simlar issues with an XT600 front pipes got partial refund from seller luckily I've got tools to do the job myself :)

Been an old bike could be a dirty contact within the electrics or switches pop the tank off the plastic box with all wiring inside unplug & replug everything spraying a cleaning agent inside.
But you might find its a switch that needs to be dismantled & cleaned be careful cos they have springs & ball bearings in some !

Sounds like the immobiliser could be playing up 1st thing I did was get rid of the 16 year old alarm off my recent purchase, as had one on my 1st fazer a few years ago went tits up & was lucky it was a simple job to remove I remember happily bashing my large hammer onto it in joy 😂
Some are wired directly into loom & same color wires easier to change that than faf about too much lol

In my van I often make them swerve back into their space cos I don't slow down or stop like some pussys do my road is classic enough room to have parked cars either side & still pass a bus but they will sit over white line 🙄

Prob the best way is to run an aux fuse box I had a centech AP 1 on my BMW GS ran extra lights, sat nav,USB socket, plus spare space ready for something else very easy to wire in :)

Why not wire direct but have a switch under the seat 👍🏻
