O rings, don't you just love 'em. You compress them axially they expand radially! Have you got a pair of vernier calipers handy? It's a standard engineering part, with a bit of work you should be able to source what your after for a few bob  ;)

FZS600 Fazer / Re: fazer 600 carb
« on: 11 June 2015, 12:42:56 pm »
Hi Mort,
you say the vibrations there when stationary so it's probably not from the transmission. Does it disappear when you pull the clutch in?
Also, have a look at the carb rubbers does the vibration change in tone if you touch/move the carb rubbers a little?

Many years ago my mate Chalky was biking along Beachy Head when he came across an attractive young woman walking out completely starkers! Well being a simple lad he didn't know whether to pull in or toss himself off . . .

I'm with you on the use of earplugs Fazersharp, essential for me on motorway. I'm not too fused riding about town though as I'm a bit deaf in one ear from years of working a lathe. Unfortunately no wine last nite Colin,  :tape It's amazing what a google search can bring up these days, it turns us all into experts  :lol

Those draper wrenches are good quality for the money.  :thumbup If your flush with cash, Norbar and Roebuck wrenches are the high end products, it's possible to pick them up 2nd hand but it might not be worth taking the chance? I'm lucky enough to be able to borrow one from mechanic friend.

FZS600 Fazer / Re: New fzs600 rider who is heavy
« on: 07 June 2015, 03:25:51 am »
It was not my intention to give the bike a 'look' but I have to confess it does look good and is a very practical bike now I have done most of the popular mods - ( sprocket nut, braided pipes, front and rear suspension upgrades, double bubble screen , foxeye mirrors, better pegs, shortie adjustable levers, rental bars, stainless steel exhaust system with cut down scorpion can,  hugger and a bigger late model tank).

Now we have the way forward  8)

It's an achievement to keep any bike rolling winter after winter, to do it with style is an art in itself ;)

WoW! Awesome Val! You are definitely awarded a BSc ( bronze swimming certificate)  :D

The rule of thumb for me is torque equals force times radius

Dude! I've never done this but I'd assume you just remove the whole filler cap unit by removing the seven cap screws located round the outer ring.  ;)

Hi like folks have said I wouldn't worry too much about it. 22 stone is still less than having someone on pillion, the bike will cope.
On a different note I'm loving that boxeye, kitted out in 'stealth mode' by Ponkster  8)

I use this high end product-

You can sometimes get it in poundland or other such fine retail establishments   :)

General / Re: Opinion on used fazer price
« on: 26 May 2015, 08:59:12 pm »
As it's been said by others, it's overpriced but you've got to expect a dealer's markup as they're in the business to make profit!

If you're a bit like me once you get your legover a new bike you've already sold it to yourself :rollin

I'd go in and talk turkey to them, see what are they prepared to offer to sweeten the deal- movement on price, free servicing, free helmet etc . . .

Just be prepared to walk away if you're not completely happy ;)

I've had this one too! :wall  Logging out then back in again done the trick for me.

« on: 25 May 2015, 11:40:27 am »
It's a difficult one, the old elbow in mirror problem. I've got the little disc mirrors fitted, not ideal but they give a good view of the road periphery.
