For Sale & Wanted / Re: Exup cables
« on: 30 July 2014, 08:57:21 pm »
Pretty certain they will not, the FZ1 ones are quite short.

1552
Put an aftermarket end can on and a k&n air filter, cost about £250 depending on which can you pick, this will get rid of the exup valve and the cat in the original end can. There is another cat in the headers but I personally would not remove that without something on the bike to remap , likewise with the airbox mod.
Those are the mods I have done so far plus I fitted a 2nd hand Juice Box Pro off ebay, very similiar to  a Power Commander but you cannot add things to it like quickshifter etc, but you can use PC maps in it .So far I have spent £320 and whilst power gains are probably minimal the bike runs so much smoother and pickup at lower revs is vastly improved so I am pretty happy.

And the best road in the Yorkshire Dales so far is...

B6479/B6255 from Settle to Hawes, via Horton on Ribblesdale - wow, just wow  :evil

Just got back from that one, and on this beautiful summer evening it was completely empty   :b
One of my favourites, when i have only a couple hours to play that is my go to road.

Fitted a s/hand Juice Box Pro to my gen2. Tried all 4 off the different maps already on it which meant putting the standard  can back on and off twice. The bike felt a lot more smoother at low revs and now pulls cleanly and glitch free from tickover. I am going to download some more maps and have a  little play , see what difference they make.

General / Re: Powering a Pump
« on: 17 July 2014, 09:56:49 pm »
Should be ok, I use a similiar pump from my cars cig lighter and it blows up a double air bed in minutes. It takes longer to deflate it and roll it back up!

I have got something similiar to that, called back to black. Bought it ages ago and gives black plastics a nice sheen.

Beware the lean burn more air in with same fuelling = lean burn

I thought they were a direct replacement and were ok to use without adjusting  anything?

Excellent Slappy

Id defo like abs on my next bike.

« on: 08 July 2014, 03:31:32 pm »
I could not believe the difference it has made. The old filter was in a right state,it must have been in the bike from new 7 years ago!
The bike accelerates a lot better and the induction noise just brings out my inner hooligan, 95 miles later I am pulling back into my drive with a big grin on my face.

I also managed to make the ABS trip in, totally my fault getting a little bit carried away and forgetting how tight one of the bends on one of my favourite routes is, and what a weird feeling it is, the lever pulsing slightly and a slightly remote feeling from the front.

For Sale & Wanted / Wanted, fce for an FZ1.
« on: 07 July 2014, 01:40:40 pm »
I know its a long shot, and I have just missed one :\  but does anyone have an ivans fce for a FZ1 for sale?
I have decided to do this first before I fit a power commander so I can see what difference it makes.

my home seems like a since from the film  mouse hunt at times !

Hope your house doesn`t end up like the one in the filmed end up.
If you have a multimeter you can check your charging etc, or borrow one from a mate.

We have all done something just as stupid, thats life.
If bike is running ok and starts up ok take that as a good sign. I would visually check as much of the electrics as you can to see if there are any signs of damage.
As for the mice traps and poison, or get a jack russell!

the ECU from 2010 models are much better.my 08 was snatchy but all gone on the 2010.
This may be a dumbass question but is it possible to retrofit an ecu from a later model such as a 2010 to a 2006/2007 to cure the the snatch, or are the ecu so expensive that it is cheaper to use the fce and a power commander? And when I say retrofit I mean just plug and play.

1567
That will teach me to try and save money.
Ever heard the saying "Buy cheap Buy twice"......... ;)

Or it something like that

I should get my money back on the PC5, its on ebay at the moment and its been bidding up to within £10 of what I paid for it :) .
Sometimes when you buy cheap you do get a bargain, just because something is expensive does not mean it is better. My mistake was buying something that I thought would fit but didn`t., but you live and learn.

General / Computer and chili tech camera problem.
« on: 03 July 2014, 02:42:49 pm »
I have one of those cheap chili tech cameras on my fazer that has worked ok for about a year and now I am having a strange problem with. If I import the videos to my laptop some of the videos play perfectly using windows media player but some videos will not play at all and I get the message that the format is not recognised. I have tried using the HP videosmart program supplied with my laptop but I just get the same message.
Anyone know how to get round this? ( bearing in mind my computer skills are getting pushed to the limit just importing videos).

well its all changed with the new sales contract rules now
web transaction must display complete transaction price and have a confirmation before sale is confirmed by the customer

Oh and in case anyone didn't know you now have 14 calendar days to return any mail order item as not required  :)
When did that become a rule? Is that a legal right?

Nicely put BBB. We do pay a door entry fee its just shop are sneeky and hide it in the price of goods.
To be fair though, supermarkets don't charge me for nappies even though I don't have kids.

I have my own small company and add margins to all products and services. Companies unfortunately have costs and overheads to pay to distributors, salaries, electricity, rent, rates, gas, phone bills, car costs, petrol, furniture, stationary, IT equipment etc even the general upkeep of doors....the list goes on....and even the effin taxman takes 20% of the profit....all of which have to be paid for out of these profits.....so all goods and services have a "cost of sale".....If I buy something at £100 and sell it for £120 the gross margin is £20, the net margin may only £5 or in many cases even less.

We are not being sneaky by hiding what has to be paid in the background, or have to justify it either. It is up to the customer to decide "is this value for money", if not they buy it else where or not at all......it is entirely their choice, that's why I gat a bit annoyed by people who moan about the price they have paid....after all you have entered into a contract, business or consumer agreement when you hand your cash over.....and that was your sole decision to do so.

Have you looked at the stats of companies that go out of businesses each year.....hundreds if not thousands of them....with a high percentage of them with unpaid bills or not delivered goods that customers have paid for.....then I would have the right to moan about a non existing handling charge.

We are a nation of shopkeepers anyway.

What you say is quite true but do you advertise your goods or services at a certain price then when people wish to buy them tell them there is an additional cost to pay which is not included in the price? The so called handling charges are tacked on at the very end of the transaction when they should be shown clearly at the beginning, this is why so many people get annoyed about them.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Fitting new MIVV exhaust!
« on: 02 July 2014, 10:17:27 am »
It's straight forward m8 took me half hour tops, if u can change the oil and filter then changing the exhaust is easy
Fitting an end can is a lot easier than doing an oil change, and you will find the more you do easy stuff like that it all helps to gain confidence for the more complex jobs.

It is a foccin con,my wife bought 3 tickets for the Leeds Arena and was charged £7 handling and delivery for each ticket. She had printed the tickets off at home.! If the tickets have to have a " handling charge" this should reflect what the charge is for and not what they think they can get away with.

1573
Is the pc5 you have fitted the correct one for an FZ1? The one I have is for a 07/08 R1 which I mistakenly thought would fit my FZ1 but they seem to be quite different to fit according to Dynojets instructions on their website.

1574
I think the PC5 is correct but for later versions of the FZ1s ,,early ones use the PC3 as i understand...

That does seem to be true so I will sell the pc5, I have wasted enough time trying to find a 2nd hand unit to fit so I will do what I should have done in the first place and buy a brand new power commander! That will teach me to try and save money.

1575
I have just looked on the dynojet website and the FZ1 and R1 have different fitting instructions so it seems its a no go. I had assumed the pc5 for an R1 would fit as it is basically the same engine and all I would have to do is download a suitable map for an FZ1 into it.
