I should add that the forks were drained well, upside down for at least three hours, so no left over oil.

Dunno if this helps, but I just looked in the official dealer workshop manual that I got for the 1998 R1, ( same clutch I think ) and it says 70nm.

 ordered some short adjustable levers from e bay, mainly to get over the slightly too big span for the clutch.
They came and are really good, cures it , nicely finished too.
£ 45 from a firm called SG racing.
Just in case any body wants some.

If someone annoys you on the road kick their mirror off, if you abide by all the rules of the road yourself you don't get it, well done ,buy a micra because you wont get wet and you can carry more shopping.

Oh yeah, I got the ones you can just dry out and reuse to absorb water, take camping etc.
when I am away I use them, when at home just the airing cupboard with newspaper

I don't really know what all the fuss is about, I was around before we joined Europe and it was fine, we aint all gonna burst into flames if we go it alone. Scotland had a vote to be independent, it voted to stay with the UK,  the UK had a vote to be independent it voted to leave EU.
that's democracy.. lets leave, get on with it and talk about motorbikes.. :)

I voted leave too but I didn't think it would go this way, glad it did .
I think the biggest mistake the stay campaign made was the fear thing...I think british people are by nature polite and tolerant but don't respond well to threats , we just dig in  and wont be bullied.
I am now off for a FULL ENGLISH down the café.. :)
