I also have the touring boots from ALDI as i bought them last year - they are identical to the ones they are selling this year and are extremely comfortable and actually 100% waterproof (which surprised me no end if i am honest - as they are only labelled as water resistant)

Haven't leaked a drop in heavy downpours for me yet anyway (motorways etc)

I debated buying a new pair but mine are still in perfect condition and nice and comfortable

I know you get what you pay for but how good are the lidl jackets and trousers? I'm losing weight ATM and my current gear is getting far far too big but I have another 2 stone to lose so don't want to buy something expensive in the interim

Is it waterproof? Etc

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: oil filter?

I'm fairly sure the K&N oil filter IS a HiFlo filter with a nut on it and the branding (read it somewhere)

Ah Ghosty - a topic i unfortunately know all to much about.

Nothing really works - not in a permanent way that will always stop your glasses misting up at this time of the year - I simply leave a crack open till 30mph - after which i shut it and leave all vents open

or rather i did - now i wear Acuvue Contact Lenses all the time - and the problem is gone lol

but the reason i wear contacts is BECAUSE Of the above problem doing my head in!!

My friend has the Beowulf Can on his FZ1 and its rather nice - I think they will also do one for the FZ8 as similar design - may be worth checking them out

I have a Beowulf Warrior on my FZS600 and its great :)

I've had a Shoei XR1000 for nearly 3 years and it's just as comfortable and waterproof as the day I got it. Can wear for hours and hours without discomfort. Would definitely recommend as now you can get them for your budget new as replaced by the XR1100. Hoping to get a XR1100 at the NEC show next Saturday :)

Side panels off and a straight ruler - you can unlatch it this way with a bit of fiddling

I have used the puncture safe stuff in my bike tyres and had no problems at all. Had a few pink parts come the end of the tyres life where it had obviously done it's job

I would recommend it definitely

General / Re: earplugs
« on: 05 October 2011, 03:53:04 pm »
if you don't use good fitting plugs you WILL damage your hearing - and it's irreversible.

anything above a 30 limit and I'll wear mine. I use the orange Max ones, bought a box of 100 of ebay. Ive always had problems fitting one in my right ear and over the years have developed tinitus in that ear. actually depresses me sometimes when I'm lying in bed and it's quiet and all I can "hear" is the two tone ringing in my ear. wished I'd take more care.
tried the custom plugs a few years ago from the Scottish Bike Show - were OK until I tried them on my bike - hadn't been fitted correctly cos my lid pushed my ear back further than it was at the fitting. so they're useless on the bike. next helmet might be a schuberth (had AGV Q3 - good, Xlite 801 - ok, Shoei XR1000 - ok)

like eddie, I take them to gigs too.

This is exactly the issue I had with my custom fitted earplugs - absolutely wonderful off the bike - as soon as I used them on the bike my ears got moved somewhat by the helmet and they let in all/most of the noise/sound - so waste of £50 odd :(

Ironically I have the opposite problem :P if i ride without them I find myself ridding alot slower as the noise from the engine makes me think i am going faster than i really am!

I tend to have headphones or earplugs in 90% of the time i ride unless its literally from Worle to Weston or another short-ish trip
