Are the spark plugs connected straight to the coils then? no HT leads?

yup, that fuse part is switched, thats why I went through the trouble of getting the connection from there rather than just going to the positive terminal :)

It seems people get much better fuel economy than me :( I ran out of fuel the other day at 191.6 miles on the tank, this is all commuting but I et about 44mpg:

It is possible that they are too thick, but you can pump the pistons further in, try using a c clamp with apiece of wood on top, I used a vice with a piece of wood last time.

I gave up with trying to change it. Like you said its a characteristic of the bike. 1-2 nd at low revs and then rev out

Funny you say that, I did exactly the same thing yesterday, about a mile away from home dropped into 3 cylinders, then 2 then 1 then the last half a mile was pushing!

Not sure about the compatibily question, but if its a boxeye , which it should be at 2001, then its compatible.

If you do bodge the cylinder piece on then adjustment is fine, as the adjuster moves the whole reflector and socket.

Very true, my mum is like that too.

Mce are very good at the mo, got fully comp at £150. 4 years ncd, with free rac, and any mods,

I have had less than favorable experiences with MCE

The whole lot is ridiculous.

I changed my car at the same time as my renewal was due, and it went from 1100 per year up to 1950! Called them up, and they said let me talk to the underwriter, came back and said, we have applied the maximum discount available and it came down to 1530 or so!

I said why didnt you do that first! Mental.

yes yes and yes :)

All soaked in brake fluid whilst I was dismantling the old MC, I also laid out the parts in order that I removed them.

I pulled the hole thing apart again as I missed the washer initlaly and checked the bore at the same time, all clear.

Anyway, I have sorte it now :) there were air pockets in the caliper bodies, pushing the pistons in further and then pumping them out again sorted it :) Nice firm lever now, thanks all!

100 percent.  I'm keeping it topped up.  Pulling on the lever does move the calipers a tiny bit.  Making me think there is still lots of air in the system.

If you aren't getting pressure then there must be a leak somewhere in the system. Is brake fluid leaking from anywhere obvious? Make sure the reservoir never gets too low otherwise you will draw air in...

I know I am stating the obvious, but its the best place to start :p

Defo no leaks! I have gone over every joint, cant see any leaking fluid, nor any from the calipers.

what bleeding method are you using ?

Pump lever 2-3 times, pull lever all the way, open bleed nipple, close bleep nipple, release lever, rinse repeat.

Hi all

I have recently changed out all the lines in my 1991 XJ600. I have replaced them all with goodridge lines.

I have also overhauled the master cylinder. (new mc kit)

The problem I have, is that I cant get the brakes to pump up, I have clear fluid showing at the bleed nipples on the front fork, but no pressure in the lever.

Any thoughts?

To adjust the idle, you twist the big thumb wheel on the left hand side of the carbs. The thingy on the throttle is only for cable slack :)

Hi

I thought it was an MOT failure if the Clutch/brake lever or handlebars hit the fairing or the handlebars trapped your thumbs against the fuel tank.

Indeed it is!

Thats a big difference! I have a journey similair to your description, in the car, exactly 50 minutes, in the bike normally 35-40 minutse.
