Thinking of popping over your way this morning for a ride along the B6047 to Melton. But I usually start from the Melton end and don't bother crossing the A47

If you couple up that road with the B676 from Melton towards Bourne you will have a cracking ride.

A mate of mine drilled 13 holes into the air-box and claimed it went better - I couldn't keep up with him before the mod anyway so I can't say whether it was any better or not.

I've seen those air intake mods for cars and they look dubious to say the least. If they really do have any positive effect I will be surprised. I know the claims as I have read the same adverts myself but I was informed that unless the fan is independently powered it is merely a fan that moves because of the induction air flow and it doesn't increase pressures etc as claimed.

Unless you really want to get the most out of a 600cc motor by doing loads of mods the easiest modification is to buy a 1000cc bike as previously mentioned.

News to me Shadrack! Just goes to show that you can't rely on someone's local info. I've bookmarked the page just in case I need them.

I rode over the Cat and Fiddle a few months ago and the speed cameras didn't bother me as I was never gonna get up to that sort of speed - then the downhill bit was covered in loose chippings and I was down to 15 mph!

I had to drive to Norwich today and we left at about 2:30. Oh it was bliss. Empty roads and a good chance to test out how quick my car accelerates from 60 to 100. Nearly as much fun as riding a bike.

Hey Darrsi.

I am loosing my marbles! Too much sun!  :rolleyes :rolleyes

Thanks for you reply.

You're not the first and you certainly won't be the last!

I've not heard of Scorpio Electronics (and I live near Kings Lynn) I have also done a recent search on-line for electronics repair places and that name doesn't ring any bells with me.

Any chance it can go into extra time?  :lol

Probably because the penalties for being caught are quite severe.
Hope you've got some spending money left over...

FZS600 Fazer / Re: LED Flashers
« on: 04 July 2018, 07:59:07 pm »
The in-line resistors are easy to fit. They're not really a bodge as they are simply increasing the resistance load to match what ordinary bulbs would be - some LED indicators have them built in.

Buying and fitting one relay is easier though.

I am sorry to have to agree with Trebus and Darrsi.
It seems expensive to us but my son paid a similar amount to insure his RS50 about 7 years ago.

I reckon it's a dodgy relay too.

The original one is doing what is expected when you put LED indicators on. Not all the LEDs are lighting up because it's going too fast so don't worry about that part.

Just replace it - No idea why it does it when it's running but it's obviously not working right.
I fitted an adjustable flash rate relay which was cheap cos I waited 4 weeks for it to arrive from China but there are some in the UK, just a bit dearer. You might have to make up a couple of wires with spade end connectors as mine didn't fit directly onto my Fazer 1000.

Get a cover for the chain and take a little longer to thread it through your wheels.

As far as I can see there is only one clip - the top one.
These connectors can sometimes be a pig to undo.
Spray some WD40 into the joint. I can't remember if you push down on the clip or lift it - it's one or the other. Then pull apart. Be careful though as I have pulled one of the wires out before and that caused a whole lot of other problems.

Was still good to read. Nice bit of info there Falcon.

The caps actually screw onto the HT lead. They can be swapped easily.

What is Jodie Kidd known for?

She raced cars - can't remember if it was rally or just circuit stuff. Was she a model too? Can't remember but I believe being born with a silver spoon may apply.

General / Re: what did you do with your fazer today ?
« on: 22 June 2018, 11:52:32 pm »
The mechanic showed me the old ones afterwards, which were seriously rusted! Apparently there's a rubber stopper at the bottom of the headset which means that water can condense inside, then gets trapped, so the bottom bearings are sitting in water :(

I'll have to remember to take it out occasionally to let it drain.

I have mine absolutely lathered in grease. A mate once said I was wasteful as I used far too much grease on those bearings but I've never had to adjust them or replace them so maybe it's not such a waste.

« on: 21 June 2018, 09:15:51 pm »
That's a very good bit of info and it is certainly the first area to be looking at. Also check further down the loom as the steering may be pulling the loom upwards and shorting it out on the frame further away from the headstock.

The scores being admitted to aren't that bad as most of us haven't read the highway code in years - and some of those questions aren't in the highway code anyway.

I guess that those who only scored 10 haven't fessed up yet  :lol

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Bogging down
« on: 21 June 2018, 09:09:48 pm »
Bogging down at 6k revs is more a symptom of the EXUP valve not opening. Check to make sure it hasn't seized or that you haven't dislodged a cable.

General / Re: A rant about Bikesure 'Classic Insurance' policies
« on: 21 June 2018, 09:07:54 pm »
Surely all you would need from your present insurer is proof of 'No previous or pending claims' for any given period even if no NCD had been attached to  the old policy. The new insurer would then be able to offer the discount, if applicable.

I tried that and it didn't work.

It may be one somewhere near the headstock. I've not checked out the Fazers wiring yet but I had similar problems with an FJ1200.

44/50 which isn't too bad I suppose.
A couple of silly mistakes and a couple of bad guesses!
