==============================================================================v
 HI

brought this of Luke / Devilsyam about this time last year as my lad wanted to start coming out on the back of the bike so needed something 2-up capable (and my KTM 950 SuperEnduro wasn't it!), but now looking for something even more 2-up tourable. An FJR1300 is current flavor of the month, so this needs to go.

It's one of Luke's / Devilsyam builds

  • 53 plate, 39,500 (ish) miles,
  • MOT until September 2017 (no advisories on the last one),
  • V5 in my name, at my address, nothing to hide, feel free to do any HPI type check you want to.
  • Powder coated frame and wheels,
  • The paint is in really nice condition and kind of sparkles a bit in sun light,
  • Tony Archer custom seat (REALLY comfortable),
  • MIVV Exhaust
  • R6 rear shock,
  • Rental handle bars,
  • Braided brake lines,
  • laser cut metal radiator protector,
  • Rear hugger,
  • Tinted double bubble screen,
  • The side panels, radiator side covers and hugger have been carbon dipped,
  • Pazzo style adjustable levers (not Pazzo but gives good idea what they are like)
  • LEDs in the indicator and Neutral tell-tale lights
  • Belly pan and front mudguard extender in same paint
  • AIS removed
  • DNA Security marked
  • Currently it's got the stock mirrors on but have a set of bar end ones with mirror hole blanking plates if you'd prefer. The bar end ones actually give a better view, but won't give enough room for my autocom switch.  Happy to put on what ever you prefer.
  • I put the gearing back to stock when I got it, as the front was lifting too much two-up, so got a very low use +3 rear sprocket to go with it.
  • 90-degree tyre valves make life so much easier!
  • Unfortunately no service history. Did an oil/filter change at 36k so will need another in ~500 miles
  • I can leave the Givi arms on, but top box and plate will be taken off as I'll need the for my new bike. Could be sold subject to separate negotiation.
Pictures show my GPS mount and Autocom which will be taken off for my new bike.

I'm in Fleet, Hampshire.

£2,500. If I put it on ebay classifieds I'll put it up for £2,600 and allow them to knock me down to £2,500. I don't mess around, and believe this is a fair price.

Test rides are OK with full cash amount in my hand.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / DIY service log?
« on: 04 January 2017, 11:09:08 am »
Hi

Time to get started on servicing the "new to me" thou and as it did not come with a service history, does anyone have a spread sheet / Word document type thing I can use to keep track of my servicing? It's a 13 year old, ~40k mile bike, so not going to bother getting it dealer serviced for "resale" reasons, but do want to keep track of what I've done. Also, I can staple receipts for parts to the document to prove at least I've taken care of it!

If not, I guess I'll just print out from the service manual, write down the milage and tick the things off as I do them, but assume someone's created something I can steal!

cheers

PS I won't ask what oil people are using :)

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Where to tape up head lights for riding in the EU?
« on: 19 September 2016, 02:31:50 pm »
Hi All,

so off to Spain in a couple of weeks and need to tape up the head light for riding on the right. Does anyone have a template for where I need to tape it up / pictures of where you tape up before I resort to waiting for it to go dark and covering a light at a time and shining it on the garage door?

Gen 1 thou.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Ordeing original parts online
« on: 12 July 2016, 11:29:08 am »
Who are everyone using for ordering original Yam parts online? Trying to order a rad cap.

Today using the phone:
Motts Basingstoke -  "sorry out parts guys is out today"
Infinity - "Do you have the chassis number?" no "well I need it to order anything" - followed by a - really? can't you just look it up? "no"

You do wonder sometimes, so who's the recomended on line parts place for OEM parts?

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Coolant loss - watch this space
« on: 11 July 2016, 02:43:09 pm »
Had my Gen 1 for a few months now, but over the weekend, found out it was just about out of coolant. Just put in ~2 litres and topped up the small white over flow tank but not had time to run it yet. No leaks on the garage floor (well except from the rad overflow pipe when I slightly over filled it!) so guessing it's either water pump seal or head gasket. Only put ~2 thousand on it since I got it off DevilsYam so confident it was full when I picked it up.

Will need to drag it out into the sun light and check the top of the exhaust for a leak from the drain hole, sort of hope it's the water pump seals rather than the head gasket (well actually hope it's nothing but very much doubt that!).

Anyone had a water pump seal go, and got some idea how much it loses per mile/100 miles in case I can't see any leak?

Either way, not going to be going far any time soon  :'(

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Gen 1 tool kit contents?
« on: 20 March 2016, 06:30:41 pm »
Hi - my recently purchased gen 1 didn't come with a tool kit, so as a starting point can anyone let me know what's in it? I won't use the "made of chocolate" tools that come as standard, but if I know what sized spanners, spark plug socket, Allen keys  etc come with the supplied kit, that'll be my starting point.

Cheers

Hi

These bar end convex mirrors give a great view of the rear (better than stock to be honest) but as I need to fit an Autocom PTT switch on the left hand bar, it won't fit with these installed, so they are up for grabs. They are in as near "as new" condition as can be after a few hundred miles on the bike (i.e. since I picked it up last month).

Blanking plates for a gen 1 thou (no idea about other models but the bolt gap is 28mm) from Luke / Devilsyam are also included.

£30 delivered, £25 picked up from either Fleet, Hampshire, or Hursley / Bedfont (on work days to be arranged) for the lot.

cheers

This is what is included:

On the bike front / rear and blanking plate installed:

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / BMW s1000rr mirrors

I hear these fit the gen 1 -  can anyone confirm if they are a straight fit or is some work needed? Also any particular years for the s1000rr and are they any good visibility wise?

cheers

Want to go to stock mirrors from the bar end ones the bike came with[1]. Anyone selling or want to swap? Need to be in good condition as the rest of the bike is as good as brand spanking.

Cheers

Markie

[1] going to fit an autocom and with the bar end mirrors, and no bar end weights there will be no room for the PTT switch.

Bar end mirrors are convex so give a good view, but just won't work for me with the push to talk switch.

Fairing blanking plates included if we swap.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Best places to buy parts online?
« on: 18 February 2016, 01:45:40 pm »
Can't get through to my local Yamaha dealer so wondered if there is a preferred online dealer the forum recommends? Looking for:

- a stock 44 tooth rear sprocket (mine came with s 47 which doesn't suit my riding style) - want stock steel (assuming stock is steel - my off road experience has put me off aluminium)
- want to price up the stock mirrors - unless someone wants to swap for some bar end mirrors that came with mine?

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Easiest switched live take off point?
« on: 07 February 2016, 04:04:45 pm »
In preparation for getting my gen 1, Luke mentioned the connector block to the rear of  the battery, near side, has a switched live take off point (looking at a GPS and  autocom). Anyone got details / pic / link to the best place? Haven't decided yet if to tap into there directly for the accessories  or fit a fuse block and a relay off there, but will start direct I think.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Seems like I'm back in Gen 1 land.
« on: 07 February 2016, 03:56:46 pm »
After a break of a mere 9 years or so, met up with Luke this morning and agreed a deal.

He dioes put a nice bike together, will probably change a couple of things for personal taste in time[1], but looking forward to having road rubber and twin front discs again. Knobblies and a single front disc with a 2 pot  caliper is ok 1 up off road, but 2 up on the road? Nope.

If we can all pray to the weather gods for a dry day next Saturday .....

Cheers

[1] Stock mirrors, Ivan's slip on, may re-powder coat the wheels black etc Will stick one of my spare gps mounts on it, autocom on and I think that'll be it. For now :)

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Hello from a long time ago and a question
« on: 26 January 2016, 02:35:31 pm »
<fx> dusts off FOC-U login and tries to remember password, blinks eye, and steps back out into the fray </fx>

Hi all, and if anyone's still around from when I was here last, you still owe me a beer....

Sold my last Gen 1 back in 2006 (I think) and been riding a lot off road since, KTM 990 Adventure and currently a 950 SuperEnduro, but as my lad's grown up he's starting coming out on the back, and to be honest the 950 is not the right bike for 2 up (Enduro seat and single front disc).

He's now 6' 1" and built like a rugby forward (which he is), so I am looking for a 2nd bike to do some 2-up riding, not looking to buy just yet, but come the spring...

Given Gen 1s seem to be pretty cheap now, want to pick your brains on their 2 up ability (other than the odd trip to the pub, never had anyone on the back of my old one). My memory was the rear shock was pretty soft as stock, so a new one with a heavier spring I guess is required, but what's it like ergonomically? As I say, he's no 5' 3" girly, so is there decent room on the back?

Anything else required on them (or bikes generally) for 2-up riding?

cheers

Markie
