FZS600 Fazer / Adding foam to fazer 600 seat
« on: 16 February 2015, 09:08:58 pm »
i'd forgotten the one thing I battle with on the Fazer. Cramp in legs after not too many miles. I'm not tall, about 5ft9, but seem to battle with this. Is it riding position or do others also experience this? Was considering having some extra foam added to seat but wondered if others had done this. If so, anyware southish that could do it?

Cheers

FZS600 Fazer / Fazer foxeye in White?
« on: 01 January 2015, 09:11:27 am »
Was the 2003 Fazer 600 available in white? Am interested in one advertised but not sure if it is respray or if it was a standard option. Can't seem to see white listed as an option in the year by year differences page. Thanks. Craig

FZS600 Fazer / 600 Boxeye vs Foxeye Dimensions
« on: 14 August 2014, 10:35:40 am »
As above - are there any differences in actual overall width mirror to mirror and length etc between the two? I Know Boxeye fits next to car in garage but was just wondering if foxeye might be longer or wider?

As above, does anyone have any suggestions? Please comment on my "rebuild" thread below. The pisons etc move but the chain is not moving and seems like it has come off lower gear/cog. Due to the angle the motor sits in the frame I am battling to get it back on. Any tips please? See thread below.

FZS600 Fazer / Tips for fitting collets FZS600?
« on: 27 May 2014, 01:19:54 pm »
As above - any tips?  I am battling to get this right and was hoping to avoid launching anymore across the garage floor.  Was thinking of supporting hed so the valve ssits vertically as i seem to be fighting gravity too.  So fiddly!

FZS600 Fazer / Removing FSZ600 Cylinder head with engine in Situ
« on: 11 April 2014, 12:34:56 pm »
I have a haynes manual but pretty sure first step says "remove engine"

What do i need to remove?
I'm thinking Carbs, Exhaust headers, Radiator.  Anything else?  Any tips from anyone who has done it before?  Also don't want to turn engine over to get to TDC before i strip as there is a stray screw in there somewhere.  Will that cause problems later trying to line up timing marks?

Cheers

FZS600 Fazer / Fazer parts prices - Engine ingested small screw
« on: 06 April 2014, 10:37:11 pm »
Does anyone have a list of fazer parts prices please? Tank, wheels, fairing, seat, frame etc.  i'm considering stripping a very clean silver fazer 99 model that has just ingested a small screw. Long story...

Anyway, want rid of bike now but think most economically viable solution may be to sell as spares minus engine.  Does anyone have a list showing going rates for parts please?  Thanks Craig

For Sale & Wanted / Wanted Fzs600 single carb body
« on: 19 January 2014, 02:01:39 pm »
Hi, pilot screw is broken on carb 4 on my 99 fzs600. The side that tps bolts on to. Does anyone have a scrap set of carbs that i could split that one out of please. I've already bought a complete set off ebay but it runs rough low down with them. Was hoping to build up replacement set to swap over.

FZS600 Fazer / Running rough under 3000 rpm
« on: 18 January 2014, 04:48:23 pm »
Hi all,  I have a 99 fzs600 which i bought with around 27000 miles on. It had been standing and was spluttering a bit below 3000 rpm. Took carbs off to clean and found one of the pilot screws was broken.  Could not get it out so fitted a 2nd hand set of carbs.

Runs beautifully above 3000rpm but is rough below. Just wondering if there is a common issue with fazers or is it just a case of needing to clean the "new" bank of carbs. They were supposedly off a recently running bike.

Have also changed plugs and plug caps but no difference.  After a ride all exhaust temps sit at around 120 - 160 deg C except for cyl 3 which is at about 80 deg. So i am guessing cyl 3 is not getting fuel or firing below 3000 rpm.

Thanks in advance! Craig

For Sale & Wanted / Osram night breaker plus H1 + H4 bulb set
« on: 11 September 2013, 10:48:55 pm »
Sort your Fazer for the winter. I bought a set of each bulb but only needed 1 of each for my '99 FZS600.  So up for grabs are bulbs to sort an early fazer. Brand new and not been touched or manhandled. Not looking to make anything extra on the deal so £10 plus say £2 for postage would be fine. Cheers Craig.

FZS600 Fazer / 99 p store fuel bottle
« on: 31 August 2013, 09:31:44 pm »
I recently replaced my fuel tap as the brass collar had popped out and i did not want to risk just pushing it back in. Bike almost back together but before putting tank back on i wanted to start bike and check all ok. Old fuel tap, some liquid metal and a 99p water bottle have turned into a good auxillary fuel tank. Drilled some holes at 90 degrees to thread in cap so can just crack the lid for venting. Would not store fuel in there for long but looks just the thing for balancing carbs etc..

Hi all, does any one have a set of carbs as above in good working order please? To suit 99 600. Thanks. Craig

FZS600 Fazer / Broken fuel tap
« on: 25 August 2013, 08:29:01 am »
Got the bank of carbs off last night ready to clean. When I took the fuel pipe off the bottom of the tank, the barbed fitting that the pipe fits onto came out of the fuel tap. It looks like it is a press fit. I applied a small amount of heat with a paint stripper gun to try and soften the fuel pipe a bit but I think this caused the problem in that the 2 metals expanded differently. Am I ok just pushing it back in or should i replace the whole tap?

FZS600 Fazer / Any deals on tyres?
« on: 17 August 2013, 11:50:03 pm »
Hi all, have just picked up a 99 fazer 600 in nice condition.  I've put a messgae up in the welcome forum.. One thing the bike needs is a set of tyres.  Has anyone found any good deals lately? Saw some avons and maxxis on ebay as sets but wonder what tyres are popular. Just general a an b road blasts so don't need anything too high performance. Thanks

Introduction / Back in the Fazer fold!
« on: 17 August 2013, 11:33:56 pm »
Hi all, picked up a 99 fazer 600 in really nice condition. I had 2001 model a few years back and sold it to buy a fireblade. Found the blade a bit much if I am honest. Sold it and bought an old car as my toy. 2 years later with bike no claims about to expire I thought I'd buy a frame and v5 to insure and stick in the garage. One thing led to another and I have ended up with a silver one owner bike in great condition. it's am import and has done 42000 km. really nice codition. Just a bit of a stutter from about 1k which clears out at about 1.5k.

Really chuffed to have one again as I think the carbed fazer is the perfect bike or me. So hello again!
