FZS600 Fazer / uneven chain tightness
« on: 29 July 2014, 06:25:39 pm »
noticed for a few days now ive had a strange noise coming from my chain so i put the bike up on a stand and checked the chain. with the markers on the rear swing arm the wheel seems evenly centered. when i spin the wheel round the chain goes tighter in certain points. i took the rear sproket off and put it on a flat surface to check if it was bent but it seemed ok and when on the bike it only had a tiny wobble in it. i take it i need to replace the chain? but do i need to change the sprokets as well? if so where is the best place to get a chain and sproket set? thanx

FZS600 Fazer / harder wearing rear tyre
« on: 23 September 2013, 08:56:46 pm »
ive got maxxis supermax on my bike front and back and the rear has squared off till there is no rubber left. theve only covered around 3500 miles. i cant really aford to get a new tyre every 3500 miles so whats a good tire that will last longer that isnt ridicilously priced? i mainly use the bike for commuting and the odd trip on the motorway.

FZS600 Fazer / how can is top my sparkplugs arcing?
« on: 30 July 2013, 02:31:08 pm »
im having a bit of trouble with spark plug number 3. everytime it rains water settles near the spark plug and makes it missfire. ive checked the drain hole and its clear. it rained a bit this morning and my bike was outside and when i start it up you can hear like a poping noise and when i level the bike up you can see water draining out. also when the bike was running i touched the spark plug lead and got a shock :| could i have a problem with the ht lead not getting a complete seal around the plug? i did try putting a bit of copper grease around the base of the rubber to try and stop water getting in but obviously hasnt worked. any ideas? thanx

FZS600 Fazer / slight tapping noise in engine?
« on: 19 May 2013, 10:05:44 pm »
Ive got an 03 fazer with 17900 on the clock. After repairing a hole in the exhaust, changing the oil ad fitted new plugs I've noticed that there is a tapping noise coming from the head. I can hear it on both sides but its louder on the right side. It there all the time even when the bike is warm. I tend to hear the sound more when im on the bike. Is this normal for fazers?

FZS600 Fazer / bike misfiring at around 25mph
« on: 02 May 2013, 08:53:28 pm »
so i decided to give my bike a proper clean using in these steps, WD40, de greaser, autoglym car shampoo, then once dry i gave it a coat of WD40. took the bike for a spin and mainly in 3rd gear when im doing around 25mph and give it some power it misfires like water has gone into something. once im doing 35mph or more it runs fine. when i first noticed it i came back home and gave it another coat of WD40 and it seemed to have made it worse.  ive changed the plugs and ive dried the rubber part that goes onto the plugs and its still doing the same. any idea what i could have done?

FZS600 Fazer / snapped spark plug no3 :(
« on: 07 April 2013, 08:56:09 pm »
so here is where it started. i decided change the oil and filter on my bike since i had easier access cos my exhaust off being welded. after changing the filter an oil i cleaned the bike with wd40 then Fenwicks. i then washed it with warm water and car shampoo, let it dry then gave it a coat of wd40. after putting the exhaust back on i took it for a 50 mile spin and i noticed at around 20-20mph when i put it under power it was juddering a bit like there was water in the spark plugs, could this problem also be caused by water getting in where the exhaust conects to the engine since i had them off while cleaning but i was being carefull enough to avoid getting any water there.
anyway decided to take the spark plugs off for a look to see if any of them were wet and to give them a clean. number 1,2 and 4 came off easy but with number 3 i turned it quarter of a turn and it snapped off leaving the thread bit in only and the white bit it still in the middle of it. ive taken then tank off, tried to drain the water coolant through the drain bolt but nothing came out which was another problem, but i drained enough out near the top of the radiator. next i moved the part where you put the coolant in and disconnected the 2 pipes that was stuck to it so i could move it out of the way. now ive got better access to try and do something with the broken plug. ive had a quick look on google and found that other people got it out with "easy out" screw/bolt extractor. do you guys recommend using these? also if i was to use them do i need to drill or break the white bit inside first with a thin screwdriver?

FZS600 Fazer / best way for me to repair my downpipes?
« on: 26 March 2013, 05:22:31 pm »
i was checking over my 03 fazer today and i noticed a small hole in the downpipes. i cant really afford to buy stainless stell ones at the moment so i need to try and repair it. am i better off takeing the downpipes off and cleaning the rust off then welding it? Ive checked the nuts that hold the downpipes and all of them can be opened so i dont have to worry about any seized ones. if this is the best option will i need like a new gasket or soemthing to re seal the downpipes? also what paint would you recommend for the downppipes? thanx

FZS600 Fazer / is there a way to adjust the gears?
« on: 15 November 2012, 09:24:20 pm »
Ive had my fazer a couple of weeks now and I can't get use to the gears. When shifting gears I find that you really have to lift the gear arm up for it to change. Is there a way to adjust something so I only have to move it about an inch to change gear instead of about 3 inches like it is now. Thanx
