FZS600 Fazer / Fork oil balls up?
« on: 26 August 2015, 07:28:32 pm »
While I had the forks off to remove a snapped exhaust stud I thought it wise to change my fork oil with 15w. Like the numpty I am, I used the boxeye level instead of the foxeye.
It's nice and firm, maybe too firm. Should I remove the excess oil? I'm afraid I might lose the front end cos its not compliant enough.

General / Spada Panniers - Opinions?
« on: 30 July 2015, 11:04:37 am »
Anyone have Spada Sport soft Panniers or the touring ones. What do you think of them compared to Oxford etc?
They are more expensive but the quality seems good in the shop but didn't have the bike with me so hard to tell if they fit well on a 600.

FZS600 Fazer / Complete loss of electrics whilst riding
« on: 31 May 2015, 11:52:51 pm »
Hi all, been a while since I posted on here and hoping some of you learned folks can offer a sad focer some pointers on my problem.

My 2003 600 foxeye has lost all electrics while I was riding it. No lights, no dash lights, no nothing!

I always ride with full lights on and recently after I had started the bike, let it warm up and then switched my lights on I noticed the oil light would come on for a second along with the orange light and the tacho dropped to zero but the engine didn't falter or cut out.

Anyway today I was luckily only half a mile from the house and going round a corner when everything just died.

Battery is only a year old and showing 12.7v but doesn't dip when I turn on the ignition switch. Disconnected the earth lead and no leak from positive to ground so I'm guessing its the ignition switch or maybe starter solenoid but I'm not splashing out till I'm sure.

Any advice on what to check to narrow down the issue?

Thanks in advance folks.

FZS600 Fazer / Battery recommendations
« on: 30 June 2012, 05:03:03 pm »
Went to start the bike today and it turned over once then the starter relay started buzzing. Connected on an intelligent charger and after 10 minutes the charger says the battery is fully charged!

I'll leave her on charge over night but it's looking like the battery might be goosed. :'(

Anyone got any recommendations on a good quality battery at a reasonable price? I don't even want to ask how much Yamaha want for e newun  :eek

Hi all,

Bought an FZS600 (03) in blue a month ago and have done around 1000 miles on it. Wasn't sure about it at first but warming to it with every ride. Last bike was a TDM850 and I'm a bit tall and a bit lardy so getting used to the smaller dimensions and less torque but loving the around town drivability and handling, so much so that I need to get new tyres next week (PR2s).

Looking forward to contributing in some small way to the forum and getting to know you all.

Cheers,
Bob :)
