For Sale & Wanted / Custom Fairing Lowers for Fazer 1000 Gen1
« on: 15 January 2014, 03:03:00 pm »
Hi there Folcs

I have for sale a pair of Fairing lowers for a Fazer 1000 Gen1. I attach the pic of a yellow bike with near identical lowers that inspired me to acquire them to make my bike a bit more personalised and distinctive. I spent time carefully check fitting them but in the end sold the bike before deciding to have them sprayed to match. So they are unused and in primer.

With the belly pan and top fairing I think they make the bike look much more streamlined and integrated but without hiding that beautiful engine. The full lowers hide it and that just isn't on in my humble opinion.

Anyway, this rare and special pair of fairings are packed up in bubble wrap and cardboard and brown paper and ready to mail first class (£10). They cost around £100 delivered I remember. I'd like £55 for them plus the £10 postage. Go on, make your bike look unlike the next one!

Happy Fazering
John

I have a pair of fairing lowers to fit a Fazer 1000 Gen 1. In primer as unused though carefully fitted to my Fazer (now sold) and then removed for painting which I never got round to. I think they make the bike look much more integrated without hiding that beautiful engine - see the yellow bike - and complement the belly pan.  They cost me £110 so if anyone would like them an offer of £55 plus postage will be accepted. I attach a pic of a yellow Fazer (not mine) that inspired me to source them and two pix of the fairings themselves.  Happy Biking in 2014.

Hello Foccers...if there's someone with the lighter silver coloured Gen 1 who would like a good condition Baglux tank cover in silver/grey and monogrammed 'Fazer' and 'Athena' Tank bag to fit (black and 30litres I'm told) I have both available and will despatch for £55 paypal plus p & p. Bearing in mind that the covers and bags are each over £100 new (making in excess of £200) I hope you'll agree that's a fair price. Only damage to the kit is that the waterproof cover for the tank bag has a split along one seam but it doesn't seem to matter on the few occasions I've needed it and I suppose one could use some sort of tape to repair it.
The Bag is very versatile having two side pockets for your change and so on and a clear top map pocket. It's expandable by virtue of the zip arrangement and has a carrying handle and a long shoulder strap as well. I've found it very useful as it'll hold an oversuit easily and indeed will hold a full face helmet if necessary. There are no faults with the bag and it has no excessive wear marks.

By all means contact me through the forum or on 07831 879444. John

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Lowering kit for FZ8 - help please anyone?
« on: 13 August 2012, 10:03:25 am »
I have an advanced riding trainee (female) who needs to lower her new FZ8. Has anyone gone this route or got any advice for her please? It's been suggested that I post in this forum as the linkage may well be the same. All help will be very much appreciated.
Many thanks
John

I have a very tidy Baglux tank cover with no tears or faults for sale at £25. I also have a Bagster Athena tank bag (not illustrated but will if anyone is interested) that I thought I'd keep for my new bike but it doesn't suit the new one. I think £25 for the bag which is in good condition is a very fair price. £50 the pair. The bag suits the Fazer a treat and it's a roomy expandable bag with clear top pocket and two zipped side pockets.  Call on 07831 879444. Both prices are with post and packing additional.

For Sale & Wanted / MAXTON Rear Shock for Gen 1 Fazer 1000 for sale
« on: 08 August 2012, 10:53:48 am »
I have a Maxton fully adjustable rear shock for sale in immaculate condition which I fitted NEW in August 2010 and has done about 4000 miles from brand new. I had it built for my weight of 80kilos and I went for the more expensive remote reservoir version. I have the Maxton shorter dog bones too, but in some ways they aren't necessary as the shock has an adjustment at the base to alter height and thus castor angle to sharpen steering. I removed these as I had to trade in my much loved Fazer with the dealer.  I have pasted the description from the Maxton info that they supply on the Fazer 1000 2001 - 2005.

You'll see I'm referring to the piggy back unit which by the time I bought it had gone up in price to over nearly £700 with the VAT!!. Likewise..the dog bones cost another c.£80 inc the VAT. (The footpegs in the pix are not available for sale)

Anyway, what I can tell you is it TRANSFORMED   the handling, improved steering and ride comfort. So steady in the corners and on bumps and didn't run wide any more at all. Totally brilliant! What more  can I say...other than if you want to improve the handling, it's unlikely you'd do any better than fit one of these.  It's clean and ready to fit which is simple as you probably know.  I'm looking for £350 plus p&P for the shock, complete with owners manual and adjusting tool and £35 plus p&p for the dog bones/ tie bars. Of course you can fit the tie bars with your existing shock and it'll sharpen the steering and cornering no end and there's no downside that I could ascertain. And the turn-in was vastly improved.  You can call me on 07831 879444.John

REAR
The standard unit on the Fazer 1000 is a fairly cheap unit. The damping
inside the unit is not too bad it has the correct amount of compression
and rebound damping, for the average rider weight. The spring however
is too soft, this would cause the bike to sit down under acceleration, this
would cause instability at high speeds. We can respring the unit and fit a
harder spring to suit the riders weight, this costs £80.00 plus V.A.T. The unit
is a sealed unit so the damping cannot be improved, but for what the
bike is being used for the damping is O.K. We also supply a replacement
Maxton unit is a fully adjustable, alloy bodied, high pressure gas unit that
adjusts via shim stack system. The unit has a spring to suit your rider weight
and to suit what type of riding you do. The unit is suited to high
temperatures because it adjusts via the shim stack not via a needle in a
hole system like Ohlins or W.P unit. The unit costs £405.00 plus V.A.T but we
also make a piggy back remote reservoir unit that has a second
compression adjuster and ride height adjustment which costs £550.00 plus
V.A.T.
We also supply tie bars to raise the rear ride height, this makes the bike
turn a lot quicker and hold a better line out of corners. The tie bars cost
£60.00 plus V.A.T a pair. The tie bars are anodised and engraved with the

Maxton logo.

Hi Fellow Foccers... I'm still mucking the dealer(s) about in the search for my adventure style bike, so my excellent Fazer is still available. Now in MCN at £3250 without the extra goodies (see below). I can't see how the price is too high as all my research shows that private sale prices are no lower for the year and mileage.

So while I'm still haggling with dealers (trade-in offer of £3000) for my bike without some of the 'extras' I've fitted, I thought I'd let you know this lovely bike is still available.
So..for £3000 cash no messing the bike is available as follows:

  • Tax to end Feb 2013 MoT to 28 April 2013
  • Very good condition overall. Dealer said "Doesn't look like a 20k bike, it's so tidy!"
  • Good Avons front and Back - front only done 1000 miles from new
  • Heated Grips (new this year)
  • Belly Pan and Hugger paint matched
  • Full Service History
  • Books, Keys all present
  • Meta Alarm with fob
  • Chain and sprockets good - I lube after every ride
  • LICS gelled seat rider area only.
Engine runs as sweet as a nut and there are no Exup error codes.

OR if someone wants the bike as I'm currently riding it, it's available at £3500 with the following highly desirable parts fitted. If it goes to the dealer these parts will be removed and I'll make them available on the Forum at individual prices.
  • Maxton 'top spec' rear shock and lower links (bones) done 5k miles from new - cost over £700 new all in
  • Fabbri dark smoke tinted double bubble screen
  • M&P Lowered 'touring' footpegs (have rubber inserts) which move pegs back and down about 25mm
  • Baglux tank cover colour matched silver/grey with Fazer logo
  • Baglux tank bag to fit.
So that's it Guys and Gals...a totally genuine bike but if you want it, it's cash only.
My location is Worcestershire and can be contacted on 07831 879444

I've added some pix.
All the best, it's been a fantastic bike and one of the best I've ever had in 48 years of riding without a break. Says it all.

Hi Foccers... I need help please. Farjo suggested I post this in the Fazer 1000 corner.  I want to lower and move forward the rider's footpegs and controls but am having difficulty finding suitable parts. Rearsets to move pegs back and down are no problem (e.g. Rizoma), but that's not going to resolve my knee aggro (from too many years of squash). If anyone has done such a mod, I'd be very grateful to hear about it. M&P Direct do lower footrest kits but when I phoned Friday last to enquire about the brake and gear controls to go with a moved peg(s) the chap said "that's up to you, we don't offer anthing on that."  Ideally I'd move the pegs about 50mm forwards and 25mm down. That would require modifying both the controls. Any ideas very welcome.

Hi There...I'm pleased to join like-minded owners. Had my 2005 Fazer Thou Gen 1 from new and it's a great bike as you all know, and I've had a few over 48 years of riding. And yes! I need help. Rearsets to move pegs back and down are no problem (e.g. Rizoma), but that's not going to resolve my knee aggro (from too many years of squash). If anyone has done such a mod, I'd be very grateful to hear about it. I'm in Malvern and it's freeeeeeezing!
