Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Pillion pegs
« on: 29 December 2014, 05:06:09 pm »
Hi all

Does anyone know of pillion peg extention "effort" or if any one offers a lowering option.

My lovely lady has an iffy knee and is struggling to last a full day on the bike which limits our future touring plans.

I do'nt want to have to chop the offending leg off, she looks lovely with both.

Any one have any ideas on lowering the pillion peg position?

Thanks

Timbo

Ps Shiney side up is best!! :D

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Head Bearing Adjustment
« on: 15 April 2013, 02:53:03 pm »
Hi All

Has anyone here had experience of head bearing adjustment on a Gen1 Fazer. It's low mileage 12000

I have stripped and cleaned mine (and have done the swinging arm bearings as well) and purchased the Yamaha adjustment tool.

My question is that having followed the setting procedure I feel that the steering is much looser than it was before. I have just had the bike MOT'd and ask specifically for their opinion on whether they were loose. The bike shop said the bearings were fine.

I am satisfied that they are not so loose that there is any play in the bearing but they do not feel the same as they were before. I have ridden it since and I don't feel that I could apply the same amount of counter steering input as I did before without getting a surprise reaction from the bike.

Is it the case that the head bearings were over tight from the factory? Has anyone else used the Yamaha C spanner for adjustment? The Haynes manual states that the torque wrench is used at 90° to the tool, the Yam manual states the same thing but illustrates the torque wrench in a normal position i.e 90° to the axis of the bearing. Do I just tweak them up a bit until they "feel right"?

Comments please

Thanks

Tim

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Ivanising
« on: 08 April 2012, 09:07:35 am »
 :lol

My Gen 1 was Ivanised yesterday! So a big thank you to Ivan for manufacturing the kit and to Mike for fitting it......

....and I can't stop grinning :D :rollin

As soon as I opened the throttle it was immediately obvious that the difference with the Full Monty is huge. The throttle responds as soon as you open it and the motor now just pulls all the way. Stonking!! I will have to watch out for the rozzers now tho as I feel the  :evil  on my shoulder.

So if you are in any doubt DO IT!!

Out of interest I have a Quill T3 end can fitted and a K&N air filter.

Perhaps we should nickname Mike "Tunes" after the well known lozenge that allows your engine to breathe more easily!!! :lol

Shiney side up is best!

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Handlebars
« on: 20 December 2011, 10:30:04 am »
Hi All

Has anyone changed their handle bars from the standard ones? I would like to get my weight forward over the front a little more.

Doh! I am on a Gen1!

Any suggestions? Or known issues in doing the change.

Thanks

Timbo :)
