For Sale & Wanted / Re: Wanted: FZ1S OEM Mirrors
« on: 09 May 2021, 08:36:38 pm »
Was holding it in my hand a moment ago and can verify that they definitely do not rotate.

Perhaps the design has changed, but I’m not so old that my eyes can’t recognise what my hands are doing.

Had a 5PW R1 which I believe used the same mirrors as the original Fazer, though I don’t recall what the fixings were like.

They’re no good, don’t rotate.

Can’t believe I’m going to end up selling this fucking bike as the I can’t replace the mirrors.

As per the title. Does anyone have any that they’d be willing to part with? Must be OEM for an FZ1S.

Thanks

I’m in two minds now.

Hired a new R6 for Brands GP today.

Fucking phenomenal bike.

Nitron rear shock and k tech fork valves. Gets spendy but gives the bike loads more control.
You could also get jack up plates for the rear rather than dropping the forks through yokes. Gives you the same geometry but adds a little ground clearance.

190/55 fits on fine and you’ve already adjusted gearing to compensate.

Ta. Good point re. tyre size/gearing there, had not considered that at all.

What about some tassles in the ends of the bars,a whip back aerial and some go faster striping on the tank? I'm just modifying my cissy bar, making it more aerodynamic to match my wind tunnel tested flying jacket. ;)

Might give more power, but I can do without the additional weight.

I found the foot pegs too low and ground out everywhere. I tried hard to sell a set of rearsets on here for ages, no takers. Mine was quick enough in inters but I had an r1 shock in there from America with special adaptor top mount.

That’s a good point that I forgot to mention. Fitted a pair of rearsets a while back. Still catching them and my toes now and again, so I’ve got to get used to hanging off more, but they made a good difference.

You wanna speak to the Member 'Slimwilly' he did some extensive mods and racing on his gen2.

Here's a link to his thread, you may find some stuff of interest on there

Thanks. Some interesting ideas there.

Has anyone on here done more than the occasional track-day on their FZ1?

I’m looking for suggestions on possible mods.

I’ve gone +2 on the rear and my yokes are 10mm lower, but I’m thinking about a better rear shock, quickshifter and 55 section rear tyre (currently a 50 PR4, so something a little more track-orientated too).

Might look at disabling the ABS, but only for the track.

Will also remove the centre-stand & Scott-oiler. Pillion pegs will have to stay for the kid.

I’m sure I met a guy at Brands back in April who had done a fair bit to his. Was on a red FZ1 in Inters.

Had two amusing offers so far.

I wouldn't accept any lower for that fella, just sold my 2011 now for similar and I reckon yours is actually a little on the cheap side.

I've seen 2010 models in dealers for close to £5k.  Private is obviously cheaper but that would be a great buy for someone at that price.

Cheers. I've seen some a lot higher, but a handful with lower mileages, albeit non-ABS and older, for less.

Did hope for a quick hassle free sale (don't we all..?), but the market seems to be saying otherwise!

Oh well, such is life.

That should fly out the door at that price. I sold an 08 that had done 25k miles for £3.5k. I put it on autotrader as they seem to make a bit more money on there compared to ebay, gumtree, etc.

Looks like I'll be hanging on to it for the time being.

For Sale & Wanted / SOLD (sort of) 2013 FZ1-S ABS for sale
« on: 09 August 2017, 01:35:27 pm »
Hi folks

Need to sell my FZ1-S ABS.

Owned it for two years, had intended to keep it forever, but sadly I have to sell it.

After about £3,950 for it. Would consider an old Fazer 600 + cash (to me).

17,200 miles

New MOT (well, a few weeks old).

The bike is white - will get some pics up ASAP, hopefully tonight.

Has all three keys, usual paperwork, history, etc.

Nearly new battery, rear tyre, front pads, oil/filter & plugs. Probably no more than about 250 miles on them all. Plenty of wear left on front tyre. PR4s front and rear.

R&G crash bungs, fork sliders/protection, bar end sliders & swing arm sliders/protection, heated grips, bar risers, Fuel exhaust. Will also chuck in a spare (part worn, repaired) rear tyre & a tail tidy (if I can find it).

Few other bits and bobs recently done.

Has some fairly minor parking blemishes etc from scooter riding wankers (& one Harley) who can't park properly.

Bike is located in Herts.

PM me if interested.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: POS FZ1 spark plug access
« on: 19 February 2017, 10:36:53 am »
Would presume the AIS (no idea what it is, some sort of emissions thing?) is still in place as removed the rad bolts but that only gave me another 1/2" or so of space.

Dismantled most of the front of the bike but thought I'd try and get the two outer most plugs done first.

Anyway, it's all academic now as I managed to break one of the plug cap/leads so the fucking piece of shit is going to get towed to a garage.

Cannot be arsed with the cunt now.

Only ever had to remove plugs on my DT and WR before. Never anticipated these ones being so fucking awful.

My shitty bike has a misfire so I want to change the plugs & see if that helps.

But, how the fuck do I access them without using an angle grinder?

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: FZ1 Low Rev Running Issue??
« on: 08 October 2016, 06:31:35 pm »
Sounds like a blocked air filter.

Thanks. That's the kind of fault I'm hoping for, but is it likely to have come about so suddenly - fine in the morning, problem going home?

Would a bit of crap down the exhaust cause similar symptoms?

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / FZ1 Low Rev Running Issue??
« on: 08 October 2016, 05:11:57 pm »
Hopped on the bike the other day to ride home and noticed an issue with the revs dropping a little at low revs, bit of a pain and had to slip the clutch a fair bit fighting my way out of London.

When idling it fluctuates between 1000-1200 or so, was nice and steady before, and up to about 3000 or thereabouts it stutters before taking off as usual at higher revs.

Any ideas? My assumption would be either an intake/exhaust problem or some sort of fuel line blockage, but TBH I haven't a fucking clue.

I won't have a chance to do a thing to it for at least a week, but thankfully picked up my other road bike again yesterday so I'm not completely shagged.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: HELP!! FZ1 S Rearsets and Ground Clearance
« on: 23 September 2016, 07:31:18 am »
Thanks again chaps.

Once I've sorted the pegs I'll probably just concentrate on my skills rather than fettling the suspension - if I swap the shock and find the centre stand subsequently isn't so effective then I might as well remove it, which is a compromise too far for this bike.

When I'm at a point that a better shock will be making a noticeable difference to my riding then I might as welove just be using the other bike.

Thanks guys.

I'll be back on track 3/10, so wouldn't have time (let alone the aptitude) to mod the suspension before then, possible longer term consideration though.

If I bin it I'll post pics here first!

Have a 5PW R1, but need to sort out some sort of fueling issue, so want to have a bit of fun with the FZ1 in the meantime. Will probably just take off the feeler thingies for now and see what touches down first. Could be interesting.
