For Sale & Wanted / Re: For Sale: '02 Fazer 1000

Thanks Steve,
In case anyone else asks the same question, I want to wait and see what any prospective buyers of the bike want to do about the exhaust before deciding whether to sell it seperately or not.

For Sale & Wanted / For Sale: '02 Fazer 1000
« on: 15 August 2013, 06:29:49 am »
Bike Make : Yamaha

Bike Model : FZS1000

Year : 2002

Price : £ 2400 ono

MOT/ TAX DETAILS : MOT due this week so I will get that done. Tax due October.

Mileage : 24200

Colour : Black

Extras : Heated Grips, Datatag, Double Bubble Screen (have the original as well if preferred).

Overall Bike Condition : Excellent. One small mark on the engine casing but otherwise very, very clean. The previous owner must have spent hours looking after it and it's done limited (almost entirely dry) miles since I've had it.

Tyre/Chain/Sprocket Condition : Front tyre virtually new. Back tyre will need changing soon. Chain and Sprocket both good condition.

Service History/Receipts/Recent Service work : Full Service History and MOT record. Some receipts for Service work, current front tyre and my purchase of the bike. HPI Check report from my purchase of the bike as well.

Bike Location : Cardiff

Any Other Relevant Info : Really nice bike, you won't find a cleaner example of an '02 Fazer 1000 for sale. Runs and rides really well. Redundancy is only reason for sale. It has an Akrapovic Exhaust on it at the moment-I am planning on putting it back to standard and selling the Akra exhaust seperately but am open to negotiations. Here's a photo. I can e-mail or upload more, just let me know.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Akrapovic Ti exhaust on eBay
« on: 24 October 2012, 08:09:32 am »
Hi,

I am selling a Titanium Akrapovic end can and link pipe on eBay. It has one fair size scratch on the band nearest the link pipe end (if you replaced the band, you would hardly notice) and a couple of other small marks but it works perfectly and sounds great! It includes the three springs, carbon strap and baffle (which easily comes out if you like it a bit louder).

Feel free to ask any questions. Click the link if you're interested:

I thought I had checked all the obvious things :-(

Hi guys,

I just uncovered the bike ready to ride in to the office and it won't start. The lights come on, the petrol gauge goes up and so on but it doesn't even prime the fuel pump and the starter button doesn't do a thing.

It was working fine last time I rode it (a week or two ago). I washed it when I came back from my last ride so I'm wondering if water could have got in somewhere it shouldn't and be causing a problem?

Any ideas anyone?

Went to Celtic motorcycles in Aberdare yesterday and they let me watch and plied me with tea while they took my bike apart, replaced oil, oil filter and plugs and checked the battery and air filter. Really good service from a really nice, helpful bunch of guys-thanks to "The Male Whale" and the other guys.

I haven't tried to start it from cold yet but it ran like a dream on the way home. Highly recommended shop if you live nearby (not bad riding around there either so no hardship to get to).

Also in Cardiff Bracechenko. We should meet up for a spin when the weather improves?

Thanks for the help guys. Sounds like I might have to bite the bullet and go for a service and a new battery-might try the new battery first just in case it cures it.

One more question: How often does everybody change their oil? Last Oil and Filter change was a year/3000miles ago.

FazerJon and CharlieDee; before the bidding war carries on, it's definitely not for sale  :)

This may well be a silly question but what's AIS?

I had thought of a new battery but the Optimate says it's in good condition when it runs the test programme. Might still be worth a try though.

Thanks for the quick replies.

I've only had the bike for 4 or 5 months so I don't know if they are the original plugs. Think I might just change them/get them changed anyway.

Thanks for the offer sadlonelygit but I think I'll persevere for a bit ;-)

Hi,

I've been having a few issues with the bike starting recently and was hoping that somebody on here can suggest any possible solutions.

Haven't been riding it a lot recently because of the lovely Welsh weather and the salt on the roads and it wouldn't start a couple of weeks ago when I tried it. Put the battery on charge and a couple of days later when I tried it it started straight away with no problems.

Went out on it again on Monday and it struggled to start a bit in the morning but wasn't too bad. Left it all sitting outside work for about 4hours and then it really struggled to start again when I came to go home. Also, all the way home it seemed like it wasn't running quite right-almost felt like it was going to stall when I stopped at lights or junctions (this might have seemed worse than normal because I had it in my head that it had only just started).

Any suggestions how to sort it out or is this just normal? A colleague with more experience of bikes suggested it might need new plugs and a mechanic at a local dealer agreed that it might. I've just read the thread about the Full Monty kit and it seems like that might solve some of the problems.

It's an '02 1000 with 18k on the clock. The last service stamp is from 14k but it had an oil and filter change at 15k.

Thanks in advance,
Scott

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: What Screen ?
« on: 08 December 2011, 06:38:13 pm »
Another vote for a Zero Gravity Double Bubble Screen. Not perfect but better than the standard version. I'm 6'3" by the way. Not too bothered about the noise (earplugs sort that out) but definitely better for wind blast at higher speeds.

Thanks for the help everyone.

In case anybody is interested, after a lot of looking around, I went for a Double Bubble screen from Zero Gravity. I've fitted it, it looks good and it definitely improves the wind buffeting-there is still some buffeting but it's acceptable now.

Thanks Guys,

I am 6'3" (meant to put that in the original post, sorry) so I guess it's always going to be a bit windy unless I fit a really big screen which I don't really want to do. Maybe the shape of the double bubble screen makes more difference than the actual height?

Everything on the bike is standard by the way.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Best Screen?
« on: 04 October 2011, 03:42:40 pm »
Hi Guys,

I've just bought an FZS1000-It's great but I would like to get a bigger screen as it's a bit windy at high speeds. Has anybody got any suggestions for a good screen?

I've seen a double bubble version but it's only 3cm higher than standard. Is that going to make much of a difference?

Thanks in advance,
Scott
