A few years ago my mate used wind deflectors on his FJR, not sure which bike they were meant for but the fitted his fine. He never used to have a problem in the winter, where i used to get cold thumbs and little finger with hotgrips.

With a standard fairing they don't fit, otherwise i'd have had hand guards years ago.  :\

Just stick them on for winter, and take them back off for summer? You'll just need to be careful when making tight turns that you don't smack your fairing, but it's not that hard!  ;)

Ahhhh, but i can be particularly stupid at times and would forget within a day.

Thanks, never had the fan on so i thought i'd make sure it worked the other day (had the engine running post fin painting), the rad got hot at about the time i would have expected, but the fan took ages to come on, had my eyes glued to the light!! Nearly gave up but it kicked in the end.

anti scale, anti freeze, anti corrosion, better heat transfer and higher boiling point, i think at a 50/50 mix you're looking at about 110 c, and at 100% its closer to 200 c. Apparently though its best anti freeze mix is 60-70% if you're looking at frost prevention. Min 25% for anti scale/anti corrosion.

What temp does the thermostat open/fan come on and light come on with fazers?

I'd be careful running with just water tbh, depending on how hard your water is it could start to scale up very quickly, i remember killing a montego doing that a few years ago(did me a favour actually).
For the cost i'd add at least 'some' antifreeze.

Do you have a way to disable the immobileser if it has one?

If you charged it then still had to jump start it i'd look towards the battery, if you could borrow one to 'fault diagnose' if not go at it with a multimeter both static and with the bike running.

They look great and i would ask where you bought yours from but i'd worry if they came undone i'd get the laces in the chain.

Cheers gassitt, i took a 10mm spanner out with me for a small ride and kinda winged it, feels ok, but will look in the morning to get it right.  :)

A mate had 021's on his FJR, after a 1000 miles he seemed happy so i bought a pair, soon after his front started to wear in a very strange way, i put it down to the weight of the bike and his riding style, ie not slow down for corners, but mine went exactly the same way on the thundercat, the rear i'm sure was ok for more miles but i lost faith in it.

In the end with the miles i used to do and the cost when they first came out i used to get maxxis supermaxx touring tyres, and fit them myself. From what i've seen though the price has gone up and will be due a new rear soon on the fazer so need to start looking into what boots to put on.

Did the Bt023 lovers have the 020's and/or 021's at all, and what did you think of them, compaired?

Nice clutch lever!!
Do love the claim of a new chain as well.

Feels better 1-2, although to be fair it never felt that bad. Now i've got the selector too high, is there an 'official' way of refitting, or just a trial and error job?

unless you've a charging issue then as you say shouldnt be battery, unless its a bad connection to battery, or like you said in 1st post an earth problem.

Get a voltmeter over battery and see what its doing when you hit the pass button? (oh thats another thought, put dipped on and then use the mainbeam switch, see what happens then)

It would also help if you removed the sprocket cover and cleaned the chain lube/road gunk out of the clutch push mechanism. I use brake cleaner for this and then once clean relube with a good quality spray grease.... This will make a big difference to the clutch.

As i doubt the previous owner gave it much tlc i thought i'd do this today, oh my!!!!, i wish i'd taken a piccie, it was FULL of old chain oil/grit etc, so currently cleaning/relubeing now.
One question in all the gunk i found a 1 1/2" cylindrical white nylon bush, i'm guessing this is mean to go onto the gear selector rod? (pretty sure it was just floating in the gunk)

EDIT, Found some pictures and it does.

Next door is a childminder so will have to wait untillthe school run to see if its any different now (i'm sure the power/weight ratio will have improved!!)

Did you notice what the rev counter does?
I say this as the bike i've recently bought had a flat battery, on tickover or lower revs with the lights on it lost display and rev counter, once revv'ed it'd start working again. Now the battery is fully charged its fine. I'm guessing as the 'mainbeam' draws more current than the 'dipped beam' you may be dropping below the threshold for the display working.
So maybe a charging issue, a battery issue or a bad connection to the display that with slightly lower voltage that mainbeam on and low rpm is causing a problem with getting enough current flow.

I'd respray it myself. Set up a paint booth in your garage, get some cheap plastic dust sheets and tape them to ceiling/floor, and set up a 'spray booth'.
Lots and lots of fine layers is key, as well as plenty of time on prep, also remember the panels are away from each other so a slight change in colour (sun fading from your older panels) wont be as noticeable than say on your car if you were respraying a wing.
Worst case and you make a mess, let it dry properly and sand your mistakes away!!
Oh and yes i agree with simonm, the silver doesnt work with the rest of the bike.

Does it need to be sanded first ? (I'm guessing sand blasting would destroy it  :lol )

You'd do prime, base coat, top coat then lacquer ?

Where would you get the paint from ? (Aerosol ?)

I'm curious now..

Never had to respray a bike so not 100%, but sand, yes to create a 'key' for the paint to stick to, primer/base coat guess not as its an already pained surface, but depending on colours/what it says on the can maybe. Then topcoat/lacquer as the can/google tells you to. Paint again not painted a bike but would guess from a yam dealer/ebay or a lot of paint specialists can make an Aerosol up for you from the paint code.

From previous threads i'm guessing your thinking about you own bike simonm? Not sure as to what damage and what repairs you have done, but filler absorbs paint so will need primer, and have never painted over plastic welds but again i'm sure they will need some level of primer to get them ready for top coat.

The instructions do say not for plastic, but i thought £30 for a replacement if it all goes wrong, i'd run the risk. What did it do to your visors??
On the topic of  visors mine isnt pinlock compatable and i didnt have the guts to drill it, so opted for fogcity inserts, for antifog, and at about £15 lasting 1-2 winters i have to say they work really well on my caberg(alledged anto fog visor).

Have always used rainx, cheap, easy to use and easy to get, ok it doesnt last for months but at the cost /ease of use i've been happy with it. Also for me its a way to get sunshine, apply rainx and it doesnt rain, simplez.

I cant remember which circuit i used for the relay 'switch' feed, but seem to remember it was something that if my 'added relay' fried it wasnt 'push the bike home time', i did notice the other day halfrauds are selling relays with build in fuse's, keeps things a lot more tidy i guess.

The last ones i had ( think a little older) were oxford ones had a analogue 'volume' control, and a push on/off switch, the guy who fitted then wired them straight (well through a fuse) to the battery so i had to add a relay to stop me leaving them on!!!, the later ones i helped a mate fit had an 'auto off', which didnt seem too keen to switch off (cant remember the make but think oxford) so again another relay. I did find even on summer days i had them on there lowest setting, if i didnt on longer rides my hands used to get stiff.
So far as oxford products go i had a clock/temp gauge from them, not too expensive maybe £20, which failed within a month, when i called them, i was told 'well its a cheap item what do you expect', well actually i expect something i buy to work!!! Would have returned it but as my parents bought it for me i didnt want to run the risk of offending them by asking for the recipt ( they are older).
So convinced myself, job for this week, buy/fit hotgrips and need to get round to fitting usb charger as well.

Aha, i'll get my coat, and then start looking into getting some heated grips fitted.

Dont forget when playing with brake fluid, it eats through paint, so if you do spill any on paintwork then clean it off really well.
When bleeding the brakes on a fazer do you need to unbolt the caliper and rotate it to get all the air out?
