Heres a one for you and I bet I am not the only one who does it. Many years ago, and not sure how it came about, I started spinning the rear wheel in the wet. Started by simply over accelerating in a straightline, in no time at all you become a bit more confident and find yourself doing it coming out of slight bends. It looks good and I have being doing it, when in the mood, for years without incident.
But being serious my main point is when it matters and your tyres do let go you automatically react with the appropriate throttle responce, and panic a whole lot less if at all , this is as I believe down to messing about in the wet and you instinctivley react due to previous practice. have experianced this a few times and never even felt as though i was going to come off.

Well just thought I had better give an update to where I finished up with this one.
Two thing I did to the bike 1. rebalanced the carbs and 2. Fitted a werx end can and link pipe.
Took it for a 150 mile run and no problems at all surging completely gone.
Noticable differance with the jet kit,
Pulls like a train throughout the rev range and a definate increase in top end rush.
Good example my mate has a zrx1200 both opened them up at around 60ish slightly pulled away then woosh gone as the revs built up did have the advantage before but not as noticable as this.
Mileage, yes slightly less to the tank but not significantly so, this was a bit of a suprise, I am talking about 15ish miles less.
Oh another thing which is a bit addictive and will no doubt get me into trouble at some point, pull away in first open the throttle and as the revs rise it just simply lifts the front end, no blipping of throttle or use of clutch, didnt do this before.

Only down side erractic tick over which is more of an annoyance than anything. Tends to be a bit low when warm and choke off and a bit high when engine hot, but can live with this.

Overall if youve nothing else to do with your money, well worth it.

Next project suspension.

I know I will probably get slated for this, but have been riding know for 30 years plus on a large range of differant models and styles of bikes and there is an awful lot of crap talked about when it comes to tyres. Ive had the varying ranges of Bridgestones, Pirelis, Dunlops, etc, etc. Unless you ride every day as if its a track day most of the better known makes are a lot better than the rider. If you fit touring tyres they will do eveything you want and last that bit longer than sticky rubber and to be honest I have never noticed any differance between the two cornering, wet dry or otherwise.
The only exception to the rule is the lessor known cheaper makes which can be utter rubbish.
Originally had the BT,s fitted but know have the Mitchelin Pilot road 2 simply because they were on special offer, only differance ive noticed is they do seem to be lasting longer.
So basically any of the better known popular makes will serve you well.
Before anybody says it I am not an old fart who potters about, no chicken strips on this fellas tyres.

Thers an odd thing, when I started mine the first thing I noticed when letting it warm up was a rattle from around the exup valve area, not there all the time just when it feels like it.

Mad dog

Just had mine done and have only just tried it with std exhaust. Like yourself found what felt like a stronger top end rush, just got to get the end can fitted and see what its like on a good run out.
I have another thread running, ref this as I fitted the kit myself  but did notice a very slight surging at low revs whilst idling along through 30mph speed limits , have you experianced this.

Love the sock!

Sure all of the above are Ok this was carried out with 100% attention to detail.

Followed Mikes instructions to the letter and double checked everything before and during assembly.

Maybe its just normal, as I said it is very minor but was 100% not there before hand.

Yes it has the loping idle but as you say to be expected.

To be more specific, it only happens at low revs say 2500 to 4000 gear selected does not seem to matter it does it in all gears at these revs.
The throttle position is barely cracked open just pottering along. Again its is a very slight surging but its there, get a bit pace on and it not noticable at all.

Fitted the ivan,s kit and balanced the carbs, no problems at all.
But what i do have know is a very slight surging at low revs when just idling alone at say 30/40 mph. Every thing else spot on and as I say it is very slight but was not there before fitting the kit, is this the norm.
Any experts out there.

Ahh spoke to soon, went to fit the new pipe werx exhaust and it seems to be a problem with link pipe. When fitted in the correct position the end can ends up against the swining arm. :'(
Anyone else had a similar experiance.

Going to contact pipe werx Monday, hopefully they can shed some light on this.

Thanks Chitsu.

You have answered one of my concerns ref fuel usage.

I have already printed off the step by step guide which seems very comprehensive.

Yes the zx12 is a beast once opened up but a bit heavy in every day general use.

Hy there, new to the site have just registered today.

After a spell away from the fazer, (zx12r for just over a year), I coundnt stand it any longer, so bye bye zx and hello 2004 fazer 1000.
I previously had a fazer but just fancied a try of the power of the Kawasaki, eventually got sick of it drinking fuel like it was going out of fashion and aching arms and shoulders.
Picked up a bargan mint std bike, promised myself I would leave as is, as their pretty good in std form, but two weeks later couldnt resist I have ordered a road leagal Pipe Werx can which has arrived today and I am very impressed with (not yet fitted) but looks very good quality.
To go one step further because I will not settle until Ive tried it, I have ordered a Ivans slip on kit which I will be fitting myself.
I just hope its as good as they say because I have had numerious bikes in the past which have had dynojet kits and power comanders etc fitted and to be honest yes some did make a small differance but £for£ was it worth it probably not.

Anyway hello everyone its nice to be back on the fazer. :)
