The Haynes manual says something like - pop the top off and use a flat head screwdriver to check that the piston (which is threaded) moves back and forth smoothly. Replace the sealing washer when finished checking. The task is marked as 'four spanners' which means it is challenging.

It seems to me like it relies on a spring to automagically take care of things.
In reality, if it failed or got stuck, it could be curtains for the engine. devilsyam's adjuster would need to be checked periodically, but removes the possibility of the engine automagically lunching itself.

Ticking sound eh... sounds familiar :-(
Better check my tensioner this evening...

I'll put my name down for one of these please - any ideas on cost / when the first batch will be created?

Kieth's 'get the throttle cracked' advice seems to work wonders on this machine - great book!

I'm also on Pilot Road 3's and think they're great tyres but...
The profile of the front is _much_ more relaxed than a sports tyre, and I'm a little too aggressive for it when turning in.
For example the Pilot Power front has an almost triangular profile (riding on a knife edge) in comparison.

Anyway, easiest is to start at the back and work forwards.
A bit of squat is required for a successful 'on line' corner exit, but too much is going to make it run wide - Does an extra click or two of low speed compression damping make any difference?

Coxylaad - Relax and enjoy the ride at your pace  :)

Resist the temptation to follow the guy in front (he may be heading for the dirt!).

Have fun!

36 / 38 - rear heats up quickly on 15/47 gearing  :) , so is probably running closer to 40 once warm.

Awesome tyres these - have especially enjoyed them with the rainy summer we're having here!

Front page / Re: Motorcyclists matter petition
« on: 13 June 2012, 09:05:52 pm »
I took a car theory test this morning and had 2 questions about motorcyclists:

1. Why would a motorcyclist be seen to swerve around manhole covers in wet conditions?
2. A motorcyclist is laying in the road after an accident - why should you not remove her helmet?

There could have been more motorcycle awareness questions and the wording could have been better - the other candidates in the room now think that all motorcyclists do is swerve around and fall off!!

Very tempting!

Before I email Christian... Does this device retain the standard trip behaviour?

i.e. 'Select' switches between trip and odo and 'Reset' resets the trip?

Cheers,
