Title: Trapped air
Post by: Fraser on 06 September 2013, 05:01:25 pm
Just finished repainting my fork legs ( black ) and renewed the fork oil ( 15w ) and fork seals, all went together no problem and rides great, but a question for the more experienced FZS' ers. After close examination when all stripped bare on the bench, it appeared to me that there will always be some trapped air immediately under the fork seals, and the only time they will get " wet " is by the fork oil slashing up on a bouncy road or when they actually start leaking. Have I missed someing obvious ??

Is it an issue? there is air at the top of the forks and fork oil eventually cavitates, as long as the bushes get some oil round them things should be ok. Or occasionally invert your bike  ;) .
