Title: fzs 600 Insurance
Post by: CharlieDee on 01 September 2013, 09:13:56 am
Morning Foccers,

Just had a nice surprise with the insurance... went on the comparison websites as you do and the best quote I could get was around the £120 mark and this was without declaring all my modifications. After declaring the quote then went right up to £180+ which I think is a little harsh!! So I thought I would try MCE custom direct... with everything declared and limited recovery £110 all in!!

Just wondering what sort of price you guys pay for modified/custom insurance on your 600's?

My renewal from Bennetts came through the other day - I paid about £200~ last year, now they suddenly want £370!

MCE came up as £204~ on GoCompare so that's definitely a route I'm considering, I was with them on my first years of insurance as well :)

On both of these I have my brakes (braided lines) and exhaust system declared - not much else to declare

I declared my change of exhaust, as it's a noisy foccer and kind of noticeable, and i recently paid £94 for comprehensive insurance.
It was £61 3rd party fire & theft if i wanted it though, but thought i'd splash out instead  :lol

My quotes were on TPFT

It was £370 for Bennetts as I said so I figured I'd fiddle with the level of cover...

Changing to Third Party Only... £500!
Changing to Comprehensive... £1000+!

I couldn't quite believe my eyes. Needless to say, if they can't offer me a significant discount, I will not be renewing with them this year!

So it sounds like I got myself a bit of a bargain with MCE Direct!! Remember.... the comparison websites add their little bit on too!!

Comparison websites do charge commission, but a lot of companies sell their products cheaper on the comparison sites so that they are more competitive. I work in this industry so I'm quite familiar with it - hell, I've spent the last two days updating my programs for integration with the likes of Money Supermarket, GoCompare, Confused, Compare The Market etc etc but not for Vehicle insurance unfortunately...

So please explain to me, if you can, why the hell my insurance goes up having a non fault accident?

That much I can't explain :P

I don't deal with the pricing or why it is what it is. I build the systems for them to actually sell it :P

Swinton fully comp £63 but went with CIA with all the extras for £90 full comp. Living in the Highlands has it's advantages as well as great roads  ;)

£900

I can insure a GSXR1100, Bandit 1200, ZZR1100, GSXR750 etc, all for half that price.

I don't know why I am penalised for riding a fazer, but the second I put my details in and change the vehicle to an FZS600 (I don't provide them with reg) the quotes are ridiculous.
I won't be insuring it for another year.

That doesn't sound right at all?
