love it, once made an undertray out of an old hvg mudguard for a fighter i had, looked the dogs almost factory!
-
Bodgetastic!
-
Not bad!
Just out of curiosity, why don't you like huggers?
-
Can i ask where did you buy the rubber?
I have been looking for some.
-
Huggers look like shit.
When I ordered my K-Tech shock I spoke to one of the technicians on the phone and asked him if I should fit a hugger to protect my shock. He said they do foc all to protect a shock and just get in the way of getting the wheel out and back in.
Not sure if Devilsyam's shock protector will do anything, but it's a darn sight less offensive than a hugger.
-
good solution DEVILSYAM........that deserves a great big HUGGER from CHRISTO :rollin :rollin :rollin

Grahound eBay is you friend search 4mm rubber sheet 200x200mm
-
I think that's great too! ;)

Coolio... I used to use a mouse mat a few years ago... ;) Worked a treat... :D
-
I used an old number plate, pealed off the number, cut to size and used a blow torch to warm it up and bend into shape.

I personally like huggers, especially color coordinated..and sorry but K tech in this instance are wrong...they do protect shocks ( upper part at least ) and they dont make getting the wheel out any harder. I must have made 20 raer wheel changes in the 80 k of my fazer miles ...correct fitting hugger smake no difference at all.
But if tatty bits of rubber are your thing ... :lol

Beats a tatty BMW lol ps out the gargage workshop yet!!
Just yanking ya chain lol

OE shock was fine (ish) without one. Or rather it wasn't the lack of an ugly hugger that killed it.
Had the K-Tech shock since 2008, still fine, still no ugly hugger fitted.

wot the fook - not fit for purpose
Its going to the bmw crusher, no shit, the rear subframe is out of tolerance they can't get panniers to fit without cutting the shit out the panniers and the little Chinese bloke that welded the frame together put the steering stop in the wrong position, so lock to lock is different, left lock handlebar touches tank, right lock bar is 3.5" away from tank and the steering lock has never been in the correct hole when locked.
How do I know all this well the steering caused me to have an accident ! The pictures above are the good side, I've had the bike inspected by 3rd party engineer with a full report to take action against bmw, the bike has gone back to BMW.

fook me Dave !....let me know full story by PM pls m8. Knew you wouldnt keep it somehow ... :\
My issue btw has been resolved by bmw head office...but took revised throttle body settings and cam timings to reduce the vibration to acceptable levels. To put my " issue" into perspective, while on the Isle of Man this last weekend I had chance to try a buell ulysses...now that has vibration ! :eek
maybe we both need a multistrada eh ??
-
Going back to the mod issue, I also should point out that my K tech shock failed from a piece of grit , but that was from debris at the BASE of the shock. Hence perchance fazer owners should note that neither this mod nor a hugger will guarentee a shocks life, Fit whatever suits yer style and budget.
The grit incidentally I believe came when on tour in switzerland in 2011 the tarmac road ran out and became shale, wet and not at all level, over a distance of 500 to 600 yds. To go back meant a 100 mile detour, so we went on, but the bike was plastered in grey shaley muck , and twas from such liberal plastering I think the damage was done...not maybe comparable to " normal" road conditions...
