Title: FZS 1000 2004 ENGINE COVERS
Post by: lee2475 on 10 August 2013, 06:05:07 pm
I bought me a fazer weekend fzs 1000 gen 1, Very tidy with low miles, Had the ex-up valve issue that I have sorted reading through the tips here  :) .

The only thing I would like is to tidy the engine cases up, there is some corrosion coming through on all 3 covers, I was wondering if I could get the R&G ones to fit for the R1? I cant see a set for the fzs anywhere.

It might stop them getting any worse if i can adapt something without looking botchy.

Any other sugestions would be good as well, Have toched in some of these but cannot get any paint to match atall so wiped it off.

Thanks for help

This is interesting as my engine covers are in the same condition. I'd be up for something like this?

I'd think best option would be powder coating.

Recently I've seen a few bikes with various powder coated parts and they had chipped and water had gotten underneath and it had lifted off, it looked a right mess. Although none were engine parts

How bad did you think your aim with the rattle can was going to be?

I didnt want overspray over anything, Rather spend some time masking off rather than spend days cleaning the overspray off.

nicely done mate, a pukka job. ida masked everything and sheeted up too, nuffin worse than overspray or paint dust settling on other bits of the bike :)

Looks like a good colour match and the masking is.... out of this world, but why didn't you just take the covers off to spray?

The colour match looks good, but can I ask why you didn't just remove the covers..? as it would have saved all the masking off etc.
