On watching it again I am now thinking should I be daft enough to go there myself use the hard shoulder.

So this chap could have headed for the hard shoulder to increase braking space.

SMIDSY anyone?

FFS, if he can't see the arse-end of 2 bloody 8ft-wide by 12ft-high wagons until it's too late, what chance have other drivers got of seeing us on bikes?
Or was it a lack of any sort of planning on his part?

One of them wagons started moving, he were bloody lucky not to get pulled under the bugger.

From the angle of lane 2 you can't see if anything is parked on the hard shoulder next to the lorry, so shouldn't be assumed to be a safe exit plan, not only that but the speed he's travelling at if he was to attempt swinging to the hard shoulder that would turn the whole thing into a chicane around the truck and he'd be up the grass bank.

The bike had space to get through, its only because he panicked he swerves through the trucks instead of being straight!

As the one who originally posted the link and didn't comment on it -- I thought the guy had plenty of time to spot the humungous lorries, plenty of time to brake and think he's an utter twat for even contemplating filtering between two large lorries, whether or not they are moving. An even bigger twat for posting such a catastrophic video online. I hope he's identified and his insurance company get wind of it though I suspect he's such a twat that he's already claimed on his insurance. Twat.

Do you think he's a twat then? :lol
I don't think I can judge from a video whether or not it was a good idea to attempt to filter between those trucks, but I know I would have considered it quite a risk. If I could be happy that both truck drivers knew I was there I might have, but on balance probably not. Usually you don't have to wait too long for a better opportunity to get past - live to fight another day!

I never filter between lorries or coaches unless they have spread apart to let me through, that means I have more room and that the drivers have seen me and happy to help past.

@punkstig Agree, loads of room, used to filter through gaps like that all day long!

Don't think that's a hard shoulder, looks more like a footpath with a raised kerb.

I thought he was a bit of a twat before he even got to the Lorries, he starting swearing just before that which implies he couldn't stop?? what are his brakes made of? cheese??

Looked as though he was so focused on not hitting the trucks, that he forgot to brake hard? Didn't really see much evidence of him trying to stop - his left hand is up to his visor as he approaches the last car, ffs.

As others have said, twat.

Just watched it again. His poor parents, having spawned such a twat. Not just the accident but to then post it. At least it's on  the Darwin site, which epitomises natural selection

I've seen similar back in the late 60's at Scarborough where a young lad thought he could beat two buses pass each other.
we were all on our scooters at the time...anyway he didn't make it and unfortunately he died due to his injuries.
he cant of been much older than 16.

"No way I was goin to stop"

Bullshit

He could see the lorry was overtaking as he was weaving through the first set of cars and well before he overtook the car with it's hazards on.

I think he meant, "no way I wanted to stop"
