Post by: hightower on 04 August 2013, 03:34:35 pm
Anyone know where to get a couple of bolts that's used on the clutch casing?

Thanks - struggling to see what I need on that diagram.... can you offer a little insight?

P.S. here's a photo of the area to help you help me lol.

As you can see, there's a couple empty holes - the top is in place and the bottom (just out of shot I think) is also in place (although came loose yesterday)

It's not the clearest drawing admittedly?  :rolleyes

At first glance i would suggest trying the bolt you have already fitted, into the other holes, and if it fits then you are looking at #9 bolt.

Those two empty holes take a longer bolt than the other 3 that hold that cover on which makes it #10 in that diagram

I changed my bolts to stainless a month or 2 ago and I've still got the old ones, I can send you the 2 you need if you like?

Sent you PM with address, that would be very gratefully accepted :D

Also learnt it's a good idea to have a set of hex keys on the bike.

..I'll get them out eventually  :o .  The trouble with having a bike in London is that it lives 10 mins up the road.

Well, when it was loose the whole unit moved when clutch was used - so sounds like clutch to me. I went for new tyres today, and mechanic even said that.

Buzz - if you haven't done it, don't worry - mechanic stuck a couple in whilst I was there.

Thanks :)

The case would move because the push rod that operates the clutch is in this cover but the clutch is on the other side.

Come on now, not everyone who rides a bike knows all about how they work, or what's where!
And yes, I am of the school that says it's advisable to learn what you can, that's why many of us use this forum (as well as a chance to take the piss of course!  :lol )
