Whats your favourite easy to knock up meal out of the fridge when the need arises?
I just found the last venison sausage and made a bute of a hotdog.
-
Apart from £1 pizza from Asda? :lol :lol :lol
Probably pork fillet, baked in a soy sauce, ginger, honey and lemon juice sauce. Then served with rice / green veg. :)
Piss-easy, very tasty and great for a lazy night in.
-
Couple of boned chicken thighs - mix olive oil, ground cumin, coriander, garlic, finely chopped red chillies (to taste), juice of half a lemon, all mixed. Coat chicken pieces in this, grill on a ridged grill pan (about 15-20mins, turn once), serve with simple salad, slices of lime, salt and crusty bread to mop up the juices. Great on a summer evening!

Chicken and Indian sauce (bottle).
Or
Chicken and Thai green curry sauce (bottle)
Or
Chicken and white wine (bottle of wine) ;-)

Ooh! Must try! :)

It's great - use a sharp knife to check that chicken is cooked through - juices (if any - won't be much from a couple of thighs) should run clear, no pinkness in meat. (Just don't want you blaming me for food poisoning!) The trick is not to burn the spices...

You do realise you're talking to a keen cook who was brought up in France? :lol
-
Can't take any chances tho!
Better if you can leave the chicken to marinate for an hour or two before grilling.
-
jacket spud for me ;) ....nuked for 10mins in microwave, cheese, ham, tomato and anything else i can find in the fridge and back in the micro for 30sec ...easy...all done in 15mins........feeling a bit peckish now :lol
-
i always make sure there is a can of pea soup in the cupboard, warm it up then add a tin of lidl mackerel. viola! fish soup! well, i like it anyway.
-
Baked beans or tuna and tomato sauce from the can if I can be arsed. Recently it's been some kind of cracker with cottage cheese on.
-
I am eternally lazy when it comes to food preparation - so quick is preferably, but simple is necessary ;)
This means things like; Baked Beans on Toast (classic), Jacket Potato (nuked as red98 put it :lol), anything that can just be shoved in the oven for 20 mins - which mostly includes some sort of breaded / battered, meat / fish :D
-
I can do a great fried rice and meat in half an hour, feeds 4

If you're eating for 4, how come a XXXL t-shirt will "flap about in the wind" on you? :lol
-
Chicken + chips or pizza :D I hate cooking, which is a pity because I love eating. My rule of thumb is if it takes longer to prepare than it does to eat then I can't be arsed :D

hahaha......great rule LAWRENCE ;)

Hahaha! Love it! If you don't mind, I will certainly be adopting that phrase ^^
-
paletta pizza :D
-
I have recently rediscovered flatbread wraps.
If you can master the art of sealing the bottom (fnaaarrr) when you roll it the fillings are endless.
I like..........................
A small tin of pilchards mashed with balsamic vinegar and or worcestershire sauce + salad?
Potato salad/coleslaw with ham and/or cheese
Tuna and sweetcorn salad filler (readymade, lovely) with avocado.
Pack of cooked chicken tikka with mayo and salad.
etc etc

^^^THIS! beans on toast with cheese (AKA Cheesy beanos) FTW :D

Eggy mess(as we call it) omelette really , but anything you have in fridge goes it , whatever herbs / spicies you have . Cook in big frying pan , then last 5/10 mins put under grill to fluff up , can even mix couple egg whites and pour in just before you put under grill for extra fluff . Easy and feeds 4 , bit of salad on side if can be arsed .
-
Rivita , strong cheese and Jam.
Used to be a bucket of KFC chicken but after my gastric bypass I don't eat meat ( or much of anything :eek )

Cold beer out the fridge and curry from the curry house. Failing that egg fried bread with mixed herbs, bacon and beans.

I do beans on toast sometimes but since I don't have a microwave it's borderline on the preparation:eating time scale.
-
Chopped streaky bacon, tin of chopped tomatoes, half a small chopped onion, freshly ground black pepper, pinch of oregano, fried in olive oil, serve with pasta.
-
Can't get quicker than an omelette!
Add bacon and cheese for the "posh" touch
-
I have a weird one. Toasted and buttered slices of German black loaf with Roquefort cheese melted into it, a generous layer of peanut butter, creamy cole slaw on top of that and finished with a liberal dusting of black pepper, serve with a slice of Black Bomber cheddar and a bottle of Tanglefoot.
Dammit, I'm off to the kitchen to make some now....
-
Mushroom and leeks pasta with double cream - If I'm really hungry it's done in 15 - 20 minutes.
Another idea of mine for a quick pizza - recently they started selling square tortillas - they are quite thick - so perfect for the oven. on the pizza I put double cream (instead of tomato sauce), pepper and basically whatever I have lying around in the fridge.

Scrambled eggs in the microwave ;)
-
Crumpets, thick with butter, beans, cheese and marmite.
-
spag bol every time for me!
usually make a load of the "bol" at some point and bung it in the freezer.
when i'm in a rush (or lazy) a quick trip to the freezer and a few mins cooking the pasta and a good filling meal that's really easy.
piece of cake to do from scratch too, but i'm lazy ! ;)
-
3x Farleys Rusks :)
-
Made pork stroganoff last night, yum!
-
For a quick one
2 slices of toast into toaster
cut cheese into chunks, put in bowl, bang in microwave,
when it goes gloopy grind in some pepper, and give stir
when toaster pops put mic back on for 20 secs
butter toast, pour on cheese, couple of drops of tobasco over the top
waiting for toaster, I normally manage to pour a rum 'n' coke
Sorted :b ( cheddar, brie, camembert - don't care )
-
Corned beef hash for the boy tonight with brown sauce.

Worcestershire sauce is nice in that. :)
-
Any sort of pasta with a tin or Campbells mushroom soup poured on :)
-
Stick some bacon on the grill for a few minutes, while it's grilling slice some cheese,
when you turn the bacon over stick a couple of slices of bread in too,
once the toast is browned, turn it over and spread a bit of peanut butter on,
stick the bacon on top, add the slice of cheese on top of that,
grill until the cheese is brown.
Takes 5 minutes and is gorgeous. ;)

Hairy bikers, eat your hearts out!! :lol :lol

Lately I've been exploring the wonders of my casserole dish :D :D
-
I use the BBC Good Food website - an excellent resource!
-
Linguine, chicken, coriander pesto and parmesan cheese
Ta dah :thumbup
-
Broccoli and pesto pasta, easy peasy
-
And not forgetting the good ol' stir fry....pork or chicken strips, a combination of veg, eg, spring onions, tinned water chestnuts &/or bamboo shoots (cheap!), chopped peppers, small broccoli florets, beansprouts, sliced mushrooms - whatever you fancy or have knocking around. Fry up the meat in a very hot wok (very little oil needed), stirring all the time, then add veg, continue stir frying for a couple of minutes. Add a good dash of Soy Sauce, a good grind of fresh black pepper. Then I just use a bottled sauce - Oyster is a favourite of mine - to finish. Boil up some dried egg noodles et voila! Very quick, v. little washing up, infinite variety with your choice of veg. :)
-
Nice Thai curry can also be made in a wok with some Thai curry paste, coconut milk and a selection of veg/meat
