How about a game of pass the parcel? Just an idea that may gain some momentum if anyone is interested....how about we make a mascot and pass it round the country? Rule would be you collect from one foccer and pass to another foccer, that way we meet a few fellow foccers....no timescale necessary so we can deliver on good days to avoid the rain!
Maybe some clever foccer can track it on a map?
Anyone interested on developing the idea.....we could even ad some pics as the mascot travels around?
D
-
Like that idea , be good to meet other foccers :D
-
What kind of a mascot?
-
could be anything. anyone got a Garfield they want to see travel?....or a 'stress relief' tit perhaps?
-
Count me in!! :smokin
-
A tee shirt? Easy to carry and could be signed by those that have passed it on with the date and place on it???? Could have a wall of fame on here with pics of people wearing it?????
-
how about a stuttering fazer....you can all have a go at fixing it :lol
-
I im sound like a good idea and a good way to meet a few new fellow focers
-
Sounds like fun :thumbup
-
On a shooting forum i posted a member map,on page with all the current members on, so you could see where the route could be.
-

I reckon it should be something that would be prominent on your bike, so if any other Foccers spot you, they know you're on an important mission :lol

A dead cat!!!!!!! :)

http://www.mentalgear.com/helmet-covers.html (http://www.mentalgear.com/helmet-covers.html) few ideas
-
so whens it starting
-
I'm in! And as I'm going to the US in September, I could take it across the Atlantic to give to our American counterparts! :lol
-
quite happy to start it when we know what we're doing!...could include a small notebook that we could all sign?
maybe let the thread run another day or two to gather interest
-
I like the T-shirt idea could side it as it goes along and would stand out to other foocers involved
-
sorry ment sign it as it gets passed round
-
How about getting OMF to run up a one-off Fazer T-shirt, sending it round all the Foccers along with a notebook to get people to sign/add their names? Then when it finishes its round, auction it off on the forum, proceeds going to running costs / charity of choice?
-
could do...and donate any monies to air ambulance????????
-
could also start a topic on here photograph its were about and movements
-
'foccin about for charity' shirt required!...XXXL

At least XXXL, cos you'll be wearing it over a jacket too.
-
think the air ambulance is a good idea
-
'foccin about for charity' shirt required!...XXXL
Lol! I like it :)
-
I will test the water in Whitby tomorrow regarding the shirt...report back tomorrow night.
-
some good ideas there...iam in one this one...if we`re doing it for charity how about something that appeals to a wider market and not just us foccers, would raise more money ;)
-
xxxl will flap about in the wind on me !! :)
-
Count me in for this, especially for a charity.
'Foccing for charity'
' collecting for '
' ---------------- '
On the T- shirt and maybe people will donate to the wearer on its journey, especially if it visits popular bike meets :)
If one of our Irish colleagues can arrange a person to collect it at Stranraer I will take it there.
-
count me in :)
-
Sounds good to me, im in
-
How about a right dirty slutty tart....if so I'm in (pun intended) :)
-
Sounds great. I'm in. Glasgow and the West (up or down) covered :D
-
Many years ago there was something similar we did on here. It involved a teddy bear from memory and Barnardos shops.
-
Good idea! - I'd be in :D
-
I'd be up for it :)
-
How about 50/50 air ambulance / blood bikers?
Great Idea, I'm definately up for it. :D
-
ok, I can get a xxxl tshirt done same day or a 5xl high vis orange vest which may be easier to put on over bike gear. Need to finalise wording asap. A vest would be limited on the front due to it's opening.
I will send a small notebook round with it that can be signed/dated/comments etc.
not sure the mechanics of fund raising...do we need a facebook page with a link to donate?..count me out of that, I know nowt about facebook. No-one will stop a bike on the road so unless we meet at popular spots fund raising seems limited. We then have to rely on people collecting and banking funds.
I think we should keep to uk this time...maybe repeat next year to go further afield with whatever lessons learned?
I need to check with Air Ambulance because i think they are regional so allocating any money to the big picture may be a challenge.

Last time Dick Turpin went for a ride and collected money it didnt go down too well!!!!! :lol :lol

For the vest / T-shirt wording, how about:
"FAZER OWNERS CLUB(S)
CHARITY RUN 2013
BLOODBIKERS & AIR AMBULANCE"
With maybe a pic of Frankenfazer between the lines of text? I say "clubs" as we could also do the US (I go at the end of September), asking Devilsyam to mobilise the forces there.
For fundraising, maybe we could ask Farjo to set one up using the forum e-mail at the Justgiving site, or similar? An open Google map allowing people who want to join in on the wearing (olympic torch style, LOL!) to pin themselves to the map - but they must then get the shirt / notebook signed by at least one other Foccer or take it to a meet before passing it on (forces keyboard warriors out of the house!! :lol ). Then a route can be worked out.
Thoughts?
-
I'm not too bothered about the route or how long it takes but it would be good to go far and wide as possible.
What bothers me at the moment is the 'mechanics' of collecting any contributions and getting them to the relevant bodies.
Perhaps we should set the journey in motion (although the vest wording would be a problem then) and develop a plan for collection as it goes?
Anyone with experience on this side of things?

Just looked at the Justgiving site - looks like a good interface too! Alternatively, we do the run, the shirt & notebook are given to a pre-chosen Foccer for safe keeping (you, for instance, as the instigator!). That Foccer then starts the auction (on a forum thread, perhaps?), and the winner pays the chosen one (LOL) by Paypal. That sum then gets divvied up to the charities.
The Justgiving site looks easy to use too. How about we collect for blood bikers along the road (via a justgiving page), then the auction proceeds go to the winning Foccer's local Air Ambulance branch?
-
I appreciate the reply....I too have just been looking at the justgiving website!
Bloodbikers also seems to be regional and I wonder how many southern foccers would give to a northern based air ambulance...or vice versa?
-
I still think a t shirt would be better if we are going to be signing it ( forum names ), might even need a spare !
Collection would not be a problem, put it into counties, shires, regions and ask the odd volunteer to collect then a final collection can be sorted via just giving with the person holding the money donating the amount he / she has ( witnessed by someone if they want).
-
or it could be done on trust....if you carry the shirt you put a minimum £5 say into your chosen charity.
I am quite happy to set two tshirts on their way and also happy to auction whatever returns here in due course. I could identify the charity that the end auction paid or let the winning bidder choose?
That appears simpler.
-
I want to try and get things moving so tomorrow I will get a couple of shirts (white) printed based on the 'foccin about for charity' '2013 tour' text (or similar). We can then add our site names as they progress on the journey. I will include a notebook for comments etc on the way. I will leave to trust your contributions to your favoured charity and I will auction it whenever it returns.
If some really clever foccer can track it on a map that would be great.
Assuming all goes to plan I will set it off on Sunday (if it's not pissing down) after getting a picture or two for the thread....anybody interested in taking it within an hour or so of Whitby?
Pictures of interest/landmarks it passes would add to the interest.
Please comment tonight if anyone thinks I've missed a trick.
ps...I accept no blame for any unforeseen events along the way! :eek
If all goes well we can try again next year.
-

Ups the ante for the Suvvenahs to out bid the Nurrvenners - and vice versa!! :lol :lol

Sorry again but my tuppence worth :- Slow down a bit if you want this to work. 1, Set up a just giving account. 2, Get a list of all participants. 3, sort out a rough route and people will know where it will be and when. 4, Get said T-shirts and away we go.
To start tomorrow and finish on Sunday is not giving it a great deal time to circulate far and wide and raise as much cash as possible. Anyone who collect money can put that sum of money into just giving in exchange for the cash they hold, all done in trust.
-
Loony tune ...I do appreciate your comments...I want this to work as much as anyone.
I didn't want to suggest it finished Sunday, I wanted to suggest it starts on Sunday and takes as many weeks/months as the foccers want it to take.
I thought if we tried to stick to a schedule it was more likely to fail (weather/breakdowns etc). I expected it to go in whatever direction foccers were available to accept it and each recipient could use this thread to find their next meet/handover.
Sorry if that wasn't clear.
I do want to hear what foccers views are.

And seeing as Mr Red98 is going on LoFos, hopefully, I can then grab it and take it to the Hampshire / Southern Foccers too!
-
Sounds like a plan to me.
:thumbup
We did something similar a good few years back raising funds for Barnardos shops, doing a relay with a wee GPS based gubbins.
Made for some interesting ride outs and some slightly dubious photos.
:D
Was also a good way to get folks to meet up, talk pish and put faces to names.
Although knowing some of you Foccers the faces thing may not be so good.
:pokefun

Well count me in.
Just tell me what to do and when and how etc.
In wiltshire if that helps.

I'm not far from you Skippernick (Oxfordshire). Do you know any good biker stops in your area (cafes, regular meets) ? Could also come out to give moral support on mascot handover, or you could pass the flame on to me if you don't get the chance for a longer exchange run.
-
OK Shirts done...pictures to follow....have to admit to being quite pleased with them....don't change your minds now guys!
-
Ok, here's a few suggestions:
1) Set up a Google Map or similar (like the "where are you" map for these forums) so people can stick a pin in to wherever they are in the country hopefully with a contact e-mail or number.
2) Set up a Just Giving account for charitable donations.
3) Send the shirt out with a sharpie so people can sign it and lots of eg A6 size flyers with the Just Giving address to hand to any bikers you meet on the way.
4) Take the shirt for a ride. getting photos of the hand-over and favourite landmarks, biker stops, great roads etc.
5) Use the Create Route software on Google Maps to show where you took the shirt.
6) Contact the next Rider on the list and hand the shirt over to them.
7) Repeat from step 4 until everyone who wants to has worn the shirt.
8 ) Auction the shirt, whoever wins decides which charity gets the dosh.
How does that sound?
-
Thanks Graham...some good points on there.
Not sure about the google maps thing. Given that it looks as though it will be leaving Whitby and heading North on Monday can somebody do that?
Quite happy to run off a few fliers if people want to go down that route? I do expect that recipients of the shirts will donate something to their chosen charity along the way.
I'll start a new thread when I have some pics to add.
I will send some fabric markers (to sign the shirt) out with it to pass on as it goes between riders and a notebook for signing and adding any comments along the way. Please add pictures to the thread.
As Graham said I will auction whatever comes back...whenever that is!

That is an awesome T-shirt!
Anyone set up a Google map yet? If not, I'll get on it. :)
-
Thanks ChristoT...I did think of adding the text..'Meet the Foccers!'
Maybe next year!
-
Looks like there's something written on the back of the t-shirt?
-
2 pictures Nick...look back in the thread.
-
Doh! :rolleyes
-
There will be a fabric pen with the shirts that is designed for this purpose. I gather the ink needs sealing down with an iron at sometime. A little red notebook will be included for any messages along the way.
-
Id def like to be involved , im in southampton if anyone is near. So i could collect and pass on .
