Post by: Fizzy Pies on 25 July 2013, 01:46:44 pm
Mine are really pitted and look untidy, what have you guys done about yours? Show n tell please haha.

Not the chrome tubes, the lower legs.

Erm, the middle of the letter `M` is short, as are the points of the tuning fork..... those stickers are from the Yamaha music division!!!    ;)

Mine were awful when I got the bike. I just wire brushed them and silver smoothrited then. I'm happy with the finish. It ain't showroom but good enough for a 99 bike.

No need to split forks neither, just remove wheel and mudguard and paint in with.

Ive polished mine , not perfect but slowly getting there . Just got cheap polishing wheels with compound off ebay . At same time i polished the rest of the shiny bits . Even stripped down one of the rocker covers and has come up very shiny , now 3 more to go  :b . This was done few weeks back and still looking good . Next time ill remove wheel etc to do a proper job .

Mine were quite rotten when i got it. I gave them a quick rub down and sprayed them with some silver paint I had in the garage.
I was meant to do it properly later on but never got round to it as they look ok.

I put fablon sticky back plastic on my first Fazer's forks. That bugger did about 45k. I took the plastic off after all these miles, and the forks looked like new. Well worth doing. ;D

I bought a polishing kit off eBay, chocked under the engine, took off the front wheel and mudguard, stripped the legs and polished them in place then lacquered them so I didn't have to keep polishing them.

I will be sorting out the front suspension soon (new seals and heavier oil) and plan to sand back the legs and spray them black to tidy them up :) First time using spray paint so could be laugh... or not...
