Title: Celebs.
Post by: Simon.Pieman on 19 July 2013, 08:04:38 pm
Just an idle question out of interest. Does anyone have any celebs or TV people living in their town that they see regularly? Have you met them? What are they like?
As some of you already know my lady companion is a presenter on the Beeb and we live next to a village where she is completely unrecognised by the entire populace, which is nice. But, if we go into Penzance or even Newquay we get a few gawpers and occaisionally old women of the type who want a picture of madam patting their dog etc. Most people are nice and say lovely things, heckling kids can be awful however.
I don't know any celebs near me at the present time but I lived for a short while in Hadleigh Essex and regularly saw Phil Cornwell jogging, Phil Jupitas (not ever jogging, lol) and Alison Moyet once (at a time when she could probably be seen from space tho) I think she lived in nearby Basildon.
 Who lives near you?

I live near Gravesend and I've yet to see Gemma Arterton. Or Pocahontas. Actually when I lived in Stockwell a few years back I used to see Joanna Lumley a lot - she used to shop in the Sainsburys nearby (no kidding).

Joanna Lumley has a house 4 miles from me. I landscaped her garden for her, lovely person. Her husband is a composer, he's nice too. Yes, she goes to the local spar with trainers, jeans etc and no makeup.

There have been a few come and go in my area, all of whom I've met once or twice, or grew up with.

Desmond Dekker
Maxi Priest
Duncan Goodhew
Dave Bowie
Marc Bowlan
Maranda Richardson (used to live across the road from me in Forest Hill)
Ian Wright used to live in the next block of flats from me when he played for Crystal Palace. Had a few kick abouts with him.
Dave Courtney (Celebrity Ganster) Went to the same school.
Kevin Lueshing. Ex Boxer. Now manager of Nigel Benn and Frank Bruno.
Nigel Benn

Bumped into Lloyd Honeyghan once in the old McDonalds in Forest Hill... He looked well mashed. He was just passing through the manor.

There have been other celebs in and around the Forest Hill Sydenham area but I'm blowed if I know their names.

Oh and as a footnote, I sold a lawn mower today to the man who cuts Jeremy Clarkson's grass  :lol

Joey Blower lives across the road from me, he's a comedian apparently, and keeps himself to himself. Gives my neighbour with a H/D a bit of a hard time when he leaves it ticking over out on the street. ::)

My mate was insistent that Ian Wright sorted him out with the best quality weed he'd ever seen.

I partook, and if he did indeed sort him out, it was fucking amazing shit.

I did once help load Colin Hendry into the boot of his wife's Range Rover out the back of a club in Stirling.

Allegedly

I live near Gravesend and I've yet to see Gemma Arterton.

You should have joined me hanging around Hall Road School at 3.30 every afternoon :lol

Unfortunately only Joe Pascale lives in my village (at least he used to but haven't seen him for a while) and that bird from Eastenders who snorted her nose off lived in the same road as Joe for a while!

Oh and a friend of mine is a radio DJ. :)

Tan Tastic Tommy Sheridan lives along the road from me. Sometimes he is a normal bloke, others he is like a mental patient who has managed to slip out the gates without the guards noticing.  :lol

Sorry, I can't reveal her identity. I'd love to as I'm very proud of her but a couple of years ago I name dropped her on another forum and the thread got a little weird and very out of hand. I will bring her along to a Fazer meet one day however, she wants to do that and is holding me to it!

Jazz999, you must be refering to Woolipt. I also live there, and along with bungle the bear and ian lavender (who has the same model washing machine as me), woolpit also boasts two of my mates that once appeared as extras in a crowd scene in an episode of lovejoy no less!!!! (the episose set in a fairground, concerning the silver candlesticks). Bill wyman lives just up the road, in gedding, claudia schiffer has a place a few miles away, jonny depp has a place in the next village, eric bristow once got layed out in the local supermarket carpark for being a twat, bill treacher that played arthur fowler in eastenders lived in the next village (2 of pauline fowlers husbands living within shouting distance), cradle of filth recorded their last album in the recording studio here, the levellers have friends in the area and often play small unadvertised village hall gigs here and I once saw trevor macdonald snorting coke in the local pub toilets (although I was a bit mashed, so I could possibly be mistaken about that last one).

I work at the Beeb, in Broadcasting House.  I am a celebrity!

Actually I'm not a celebrity, but I'm pretty crap at recognising people off the tele even though there are loads about.  They are just people after all.  A couple of years ago I didn't know who that welsh presenter of the one show was, just though an office girl had gone OTT with the make up.....

Plane journey home from Berlin this weekend and the one and only madness that is Boris Johnson was on it.

I politely grabbed him whilst on his own, now as I approached him I forgot what it would probably look like to him- a guy with a 4" Mohawk no sleeves and tattoos saying, 'Boris, can I have a word?'

Anyway, he listened to me- I asked him about the possibilities of the bike boxes at traffic lights to be split allowing motorbikes to legally filter to the front like a couple of cities in England

At first he thought I was talking about his 'Borisbikes' and they're charging stations, wtf?
Anyway, when I explained he just said 'no, we haven't thought about that at all'

To which I let him skip off in his jolly floppy haired way!

Went to Uni with Ian Lavender's son, Dan. Year or two above me, but assisted and taught in some of our classes. Decent chap.

Recently seen Gok Wan a few times near Bermondsey St, where I work. In fact, nearly took him out filtering as he stepped out from stationary traffic on Tower Bridge Rd!

Phil from eastenders lives  about 3 miles from me (although I've not  seen him out dogging yet). Shane (Shakey) Byrne comes from my town and is a personal friend.
